  1. Thank you to everyone that gave suggestions for things to do in St. Kitts. I am torn between the Thenford Grey tour and just walking/relaxing near the pier. Decisions decisions decisions!

    n5749w,

Here is another suggestion for St. Kitts if you want to stay close to the ship and relax.

We went to a place called "Palm Court Garden" when we were in St. Kitts in April. It's an easy 10 minute walk from the pier and we paid a small fee ($12USD per person I think) which included a reserved padded lawn chair, umbrella, access to the facilities and free wifi. There is a restaurant and bar and a beautiful infinity pool/hot tub that overlooks the ocean where you can see your ship in the distance. There is no beach access there, but we enjoyed the pool and gardens very much.

    Harry,

I would like to say that I have been enjoying your trip report along with everyone else on this board. I primarily sail on Celebrity, but I will be doing the TA on Freedom of the Seas in April and I'm very much looking forward to it, especially after reading this report.

    Linda :)

  2. My sister is a guest entertainer on various cruise ships and she sells CD's and DVD's on board for $20 each.

As someone already mentioned, they usually have a table set up outside the main theatre where a crew member sells the CD's for her via their sea pass cards while she greets the passengers. She usually autographs them as well. I believe she has to pay the crew member to do that, but I have no idea how much. In addition, they sell the CD's in one of the shops on the ship. All the money collected from the sales is hers to keep.

If you are working around the ship and not in the main theatre, I'd assume that the only place you would sell your merchandise would be in the gift shop. As for the various items you want to sell, I'd say your agent should be able to find that out for you by contacting the cruise line.

    Good Luck.

    Linda

  3. There are "real" showers just steps away in the women's (and I assume men's) locker rooms. Why would you not shower there? With everyone walking by those showers right at the pool I would think some shampoo suds might make their way into the pool, and that can't be good.

I totally agree with warmwinds. The solarium showers are meant to rinse off only. There are showers in the Change Room in the Solarium and I believe they even supply shampoo and conditioner in those showers. Go there to shower and wash your hair.

    Enjoy your cruise :)

  4. The shows are normally timed to complement the two set dining times.

    I agree with shipgeeks.

Show times are usually at the discretion of the cruise director, but they definitely arrange things so that both dinner seating's can attend one of the shows. On most evenings, the early diners attend the late show and the late diners attend the early show.

    Enjoy your cruise,

    Linda

  5. With the Classic Package, you definitely pay for the entire drink if it's over the limit. With the Premium Package, you just pay the difference.

Both packages also offer discounts on bottles of wine, but I can't recall what they are. I'm sure that is listed on the Celebrity website.

When trying to figure things out, you have to also remember that both packages include bottled water, soft drinks, coffee/drinks from Café Al Bacio and freshly squeezed juice.

Do a search in cruise critic as some people have posted drink calculators.

    Enjoy your cruise,

    Linda

  6. Don't know if this helps, it was posted on a cruise page last week. It's not real clear though.832c38a5a2eac35e40028c4416938a88.jpg

Thanks for the list. I tried to find it but didn't have any luck.

I think what it means is that if you have the "Premium" package, anything on all three lists is included. If you have the "Classic" package, anything on the Classic and Standard package is included and if you have the "Standard" package, you are limited to what is on that list only.

    Happy Sails :)

  7. I'm new to cruising also do you get pool towels which you can also use on trips? Thanks

Yes, your room attendant will leave towels in your room the evening before your port call. Just leave the used towels in the room when you return and they will be replenished for the next port.

    Enjoy your cruise :)

    Hi Essiesmom.

Thanks for the pictures, they are really helpful. We will be in this cabin next year and we're looking forward to trying the front of the ship.

How was the noise and motion up there. Someone mentioned that the crew were partying below those cabins every night and the noise was unbearable. I'm a little confused, because I'm pretty certain that the theatre is below this cabin and I would think the noise would stop once the shows were done.

    Thanks again

    Linda

  9. Doing our first Celebrity cruise in February on Silhouette. We have a group of 8 and selected late dining but we're discussing the option of the more flexible Select dining. Our only concern is Show Times. On Royal, the early diners see the late shows and the late diners see the early shows. Are show times on Celebrity structured the same way? So being an odd dining time we could miss the shows?

    Hi RCCLxpurser,

Show times on Celebrity are generally at 7pm and 9pm although that might change on the first formal night for the Captains Welcome. Shows that night are generally a bit later.

So just as you have experienced on Royal, the early show will work for the late diners and the late show for the early diners.

I was just on a cruise with a group of 10 and we had no trouble getting a table together each evening with a minimal wait. We ate between 8 and 8:15 each evening which allowed us to go to the early show at 7pm and then we were done dinner by the time the evening festivities began at about 10:30.

    Enjoy your cruise,

    Linda

  10. I was on Summit in April and Infinity in October and visited the rooftop terrace on several occasions on both ships.

There are a few covered sunbeds along the back wall and they were always occupied during the day. I would guess you would have to grab one early. As for the rest of the seating, its more conducive to watching something on the big screen (sporting event or movie) or just relaxing over a cocktail. Other than the covered sunbeds I mentioned, the furniture consists of sofas and tables and its all directly in the sun. Also note that although there is bar service up there, the servers have to go down to the sunset bar to get the drinks so it's a bit slow. I'd suggest bringing your drink with you.

On occasion, they also had live entertainment up there. We really enjoy this space.

    Enjoy your cruise,

    Linda

  11. We had our first Princess cruise booked on Island Princess on April 28th 2018. We learned last night that it was cancelled. We booked this cruise with the "Sip and Sail" promo and are hopeful we can transfer that perk to a new cruise, otherwise we will likely just take our deposit and try another line.

I called this morning and they weren't able to give me a definitive answer about the promo, so I will wait a few days and call back.

  12. We went to Aruba for our Honeymoon last September and absolutely loved the beaches there.

Baby Beach is on the southeast side of the island and as someone already said, the best way to get there is by car.

Arashi Beach is on the northwest tip of the island and although it's beautiful, there isn't much there as far as rentals of snorkel equipment or even beach chairs. No bathroom facilities either.

Palm Beach and Eagle Beach are the best choices for spending a day on an absolutely gorgeous beach, but I don't think snorkeling is great here either. Lots of jet ski's and parasailing available though.

Palm Beach is our favourite area. There is a walkway that goes from one end of the beach to the other and there are lots of great bars and restaurants to enjoy. But as someone already posted, it's fairly expensive on Aruba and although the Balashi Beer is one of our favourites, it comes in very small bottles ;)

If you want a great excursion, try Trikes. Takes you to all the tourist spots on the island and is lots of fun too!!

    Enjoy your cruise :)

  13. I'm sailing on the Infinity on October 23rd with a group of ladies. We are planning on organizing a bar hop. Can anyone tell me what time the bars open. I'm particularly interested in the indoor bars such as the Rendezvous Lounge and the Martini Bar.

    Thanks

  14. The Aqua Spa is the spa area of the ship and I would imagine it is off limits to children. The Aqua Spa Café is an eatery that is located in the Solarium and it is open to everyone. The Solarium itself is considered "adult only" during most cruises, although they do sometimes make exceptions and allow children to use the pool.

    Hope that clarifies.

    Happy Sailing

    Linda

  15. It was also $10 per person on Summit. This event was held once during our cruise. The rest of the time, the rooftop terrace was available for relaxing, watching sporting events, movies and music concerts. They also had some live entertainment there during sailaways. A great addition to the ship!

  16. If you are travelling as 2 people in the same cabin, can only 1 of you choose the upgrade? (Other person does not drink alcohol)....

    Hi Brucory,

Fortunately there is no need to upgrade both if one of you doesn't drink.

    Happy Sailing,

    Linda

  17. Hi, I've also sailed on both Celebrity and Crystal and given a choice, I'd go with Crystal hands down.

The ship will be much smaller with approximately 1000 passengers but that gives you an opportunity to really connect with the crew and other passengers. I've stayed in a balcony on Celebrity and a Category E obstructed oceanview on Crystal and although the cabin was smaller on Crystal, it had everything I needed and was quite comfortable, even without the balcony.

The food on Celebrity is good to excellent, but it was amazing on Crystal. There wasn't as much choice of dining venues on Crystal, but the dining room is always top notch and the two specialty restaurants (Silk Road and Prego) are out of this world. Also note that Crystal allows you to eat in each restaurant once for free on each cruise. Additional visits are about $30 per person so in my opinion, this is a huge bonus!!

Although the drink package is included on both cruiselines, on Crystal everyone has the same 'package' so you don't need to use your seapass card when you want a drink and you can get more than one drink at one time if you want. Just much easier and no trying to figure out if it's included or not.

As for sports and entertainment, although it was a bit of an older demographic on Crystal, I found the entertainment to be excellent for all ages. They had a selection of production shows and excellent guest entertainers. They have an in-house magic show that is quite interesting and several musical acts around the ship throughout the day. They also have lots of guest speakers, gameshows (liars club etc), computer classes, art classes, golf lessons, dance lessons etc. Lots of activities to keep you as busy as you would like.

Buy what really sets Crystal apart however is the service. It is absolutely second to none and that was my favourite part of this line. The staff and crew are amazing and they made my experiences on Crystal very special.

    Happy Sailing,

    Linda

  18. With traditional dining, you can request in advance via Celebrity or your TA to be seated at a table with others or by yourselves. If you are travelling with others, you should have your dining reservations linked. Once done, this will be your table for the entire cruise. If for some reason, you are not happy with your table, you can ask to be moved and they do their best to accommodate. As someone already mentioned, there may be some evenings when your tablemates eat elsewhere so it may vary from night to night. Just as a FYI, it's always polite to tell your tablemates and your server if you know you will be missing a dinner, so they don't wait for you to arrive before starting service.

With Select dining, you also have the option to eat with others or by yourself although you won't necessarily eat with the same people every night. If you want to eat with the same people, it's a good idea to make a reservation. This is even more important if you want to sit with the same wait staff each evening.

On our last cruise, 4 of us travelled together and had Select Dining. We enjoyed our wait staff on the first evening so we made a reservation for the same section each evening. We did have to wait a few minutes on a couple of occasions, but we were seated where we wanted each evening and our dining experience was excellent. On two nights, they asked if we minded another couple joining us and we were fine with that as well.

    Happy Sailing :)

    Linda
