1. Just a warning about The Porch. We had our embarkation lunch there last February while docked in Miami. It was a very hot day and it was unbearable in there. It's surrounding by glass so no breeze and the sun was beating down and there wasn't any AC that we could feel. I'm sure its fine when the ship is sailing, but I wouldn't do it again while it's docked.

We will probably have lunch in Bistro on Five for our upcoming cruise.

    Happy Sailing

  2. Yes, three people say they have done it...But they didn't say if the rate they got from the TA was a GROUP RATE. Maybe they don't know. The OP needs to ask this question to the TA...is the rate quoted a group rate, and if so, will be be able to keep the perks. EM

    Hi All,

I was able to do this. I booked a cruise while onboard Reflection last year and received the cabin upgrade, reduced deposit, OBC and the drink package via the PYP promo. I then transferred the reservation to my TA who was doing the same cruise with a group. She was able to maintain the perks I received from Celebrity, add an additional OBC and give me the reduced group rate. The only thing I lost was the reduced deposit. I think it's also important to note that the reservation number remained the same.

Hope it works for you too :D

  3. Thanks kenevenpar! I can't snorkel because I can't get water in my ear. I was planning on schlepping to Trunk Bay but then I read a thread about people missing their ship coming back too late and I got a little panicky. Big I Love Lucy fan and I always remember her missing her ship and having to get on by helicopter...lol I know they don't do that!

Thanks for all your great info Cruisestitch!

Since there is no party for us first timers I'll have to just sneak into the Cruise Critic roll call party then.

Too bad there are no fitness packages. That cycling class is going to ruin me.

Too bad about the Rosetta Stone as I was hoping to do that.

I can't wait to do the art tour.

I an also wondering after the first day do the bartenders know that I am on the Classic Package or do I have to mention it every time to make sure I get something that is not over? Or I have to make sure I order something that is on the package? I saw the list of beer, wine, and liquor included but cocktails have to be less than $8.

I also saw that you cannot order a beer for your room from room service. This is going to kill my sister.

    Hi Bellalisa,

I've been to both Magen's Bay and Trunk Bay and enjoyed both. Magen's Bay is definitely easier to get to and much closer. I was worried about going to Trunk Bay for the same reason as you, so on our last Reflection cruise in February, we did the Celebrity Excursion and it was excellent. I think the cost was between $30 and $40 each. We boarded a tour boat right at the pier which took us to St. John. Once there, we got on a bus which took us to the beach. We returned to the bus at the designated time and were back on the cruise ship with plenty of time to spare. They even served rum punch on the tour boat

As for the drink packages, the information is already loaded on your seapass, so the bartenders will know you have the package when they swipe your card. When they bring you your drink, you will simply get your card back...nothing to sign for!! You are right, the drink package cannot be used for items in your mini-bar, room service or the wine machines in Cellar Masters. No worries though, there are plenty of bars on the ship. Simply pick something up on the way back to your room. If you want to get a drink for each of you, just bring both cards to the bar.

    Enjoy your cruise :D

  4. To those that have sailed on a Big Red Boat, how many nights where there standard cruise? I salled three times on the SS Oceanic and can't be exactly sure if it was three or four nights. Trying to add up my days at sea count and want to be accurate. Thanks!

The Big Red Boat was my first cruise. I was travelling with my sister who was a guest performer with the line and we did a 3 night cruise on the Oceanic and a 4 night cruise on their second ship, the name escapes me now. We had a great time on that cruise

  5. Interested in knowing if the inside cabins are configured like the stock photos. The pics show the bed and sofa against the long wall of the cabin, (slime a balcony configuration) as opposed to the bed on the short wall at the end of the cabin, with the sofa close to the door. We will be on the Infinity cabin 7051.tried to do searches, haven't found anything, wondered if anyone has experienced the reality! :) thank!

    Hi Sandygal,

My in-laws stayed in an inside cabin on Summit and it had the bed on the short wall at the end of the cabin. If memory serves, they were on deck 7. I'm assuming that both configurations are available. You might want to check the sticky at the top of the board for information on particular cabins.

    Happy Sailing :D

  6. Am looking for guidance as to whether deck 3 on the Solstice class ships has a lot of engine noice in the front section of the ship. There are some ocean view accessible cabins in that area and we are looking for feedback re that location. Many thanks. Trish

It was a few years ago, but I stayed in a forward cabin on deck 3 of the Solstice and I don't recall any engine noise.

    Enjoy your cruise :D

  7.
Hi. We are going on Celebrity Silhouette's 12 day Adriatic cruise. This is our first cruise. Since we are in port 11 out of the 12 days, does it make sense to get the beverage package? Also, can you purchase these packages on the ship, or do you need to do it on line before you go? Thanks
The 123Go promotion starts again on June 2nd. You might want to call Celebrity or your TA to see if you are eligible for it. If not and you want to purchase it, you can do it before you leave or while you are onboard. I believe you can do it at any bar or at guest services.

    Enjoy your cruise :D
  8. I'm afraid I can't help you choose, but I loved the southern itinerary on Celebrity. What I'd like to point out is that Celebrity's 123GO promo begins again on June 2nd. This promo offers the choice of a free classic alcohol drink package for two or free gratuities or OBC based on the length of the cruise. There are also additional perks for other passengers that share your cabin. There is a thread here with the details. Sorry, I don't know how to attach the link.

    Good Luck with your decision

  9. Am I the only one who doesn't have a clue what this is? I've been on 6 or 7 Celebrity cruises and seemed to have missed any mention of this. Since my last name is White if I saw this I might think it was a party they were having for me. Kind of like the lady named Dorthy that showed up at the party for friends of hers.

    LOL...

White Party is simply a deck party where everyone wears something white and there is lots of dancing and fun :D

  10. I wonder if anyone can tell me if X still has their "white parties".

Haven't sailed on X in a couple of years.

I've tried searching this site but I've only come up with relatively older posts.

We'll be on the Silhouette med cruise in the summer.

They had a White Party on both the Summit and Reflection on my sailings, but different themed deck parties on Solstice and Eclipse. All of them were a lot of fun. I really think that the Cruise Director makes the decision on what type of deck party to have on each sailing and I doubt there is a way to find out in advance. You might suggest it to your cruise director when you board.

    Enjoy your cruise :D

  11. Does anyone know if The Porch on Silhouette will be open for lunch when we embark in June? We usually do Bistro to avoid the buffet chaos but like the idea of The Porch being outdoors.

    Thanks, Cathy

    Hi Cathy,

We went to The Porch on embarkation on our Reflection cruise in February. The food and service was great and it wasn't crowded, but we found it to be VERY hot in there. The sun was beating down on us and there was no relief from it. We couldn't wait to get out of there and hit the Sunset Bar ;)

    Linda

  12. As THEBUTLERDIDIT stated, when we sailed in February and booked another cruise while onboard, we received the drink package via the 123Go Promotion, a $150 OBC for a 2A Balcony cabin, a reduced deposit of $100 per person and an 1 category upgrade (paid for a 2B but got a 2A cabin). I then transferred my booked to my travel agent for additional OBC. We are very happy with the perks we have received :o

  13. Is the Porch on the Silhouette typically open on embarkation day?

On our Reflection cruise in February, we were able to have lunch at The Porch on embarkation day. We enjoyed the food and service, but it was very hot that day in Miami and it was quite uncomfortable. I think we would have enjoyed it more if we were sailing and there was a slight breeze.

  14. I know when I booked my upcoming cruise that Corona was one of the beers listed in the classic package on the Celebrity website. Now I see since they raised the beverage packages, it is only included in the premium package. Do you think this could be an error?

    Hi,

Was on the February 1st sailing of Reflection and we drank Corona and Corona Light all week on the classic package.

    Enjoy your cruise :o

  15. I have heard that you can get a discount at the specialty restaurants on the first night of the cruise. Is this always the case, how do you go about this?

On my recent Reflection sailing, I asked the Maitre'D about getting a discount for Tuscan Grill on San Juan day as it was a late arrival/departure that day and I thought that many people would be eating dinner on shore. He was kind enough to give us a 20% discount which was greatly appreciated. I'd suggest that all you can do is ask.

  16. Hi,

I just got off the February 1st sailing of the Reflection. It was a bit rocky from Miami to San Juan and then smooth sailing for the remainder of the cruise. I was on the Eclipse in 2011 and had the same issue and actually quite a bit worse.

My sister works on ships and she tells me that Miami to San Juan is almost always a bit rocky, but once you are in the Caribbean, it calms down.

Take some meds and enjoy your cruise :)

  17. I stayed in 7266 on Reflection a couple of weeks ago. We loved the location of this cabin! Right outside the entrance to the hideaway where you can actually get a decent cup of coffee. The elevators and stairs were steps away so we were handy to almost everything on the ship.

We have booked this cabin again for our next cruise!

  18. We did this cruise last year -- Sept 21-Oct 5. Great weather and calm seas. I took a heavy, rain repellent jacket and only used it once, in Halifax. Some fall foliage, but not as much if we would have gone in October. We chose this time frame because it was the only itinerary with a Boston stop, but if we did the cruise again we would go at the same time. Shirley

    Hi Shirley,

Like you, I did this cruise on Crystal on Oct 3rd thru 13th. Other than one day in northern Quebec, we had beautiful sunny days and very calm seas. We were able to enjoy lunch or a beverage on a patio at 7 of our 8 ports of call and I even spent time on the pool deck each afternoon until sailaway. Absolutely loved this itinerary.

  19. This was our first dinner ever in this restaurant and we have a lovely server named Anna. Out of all the restaurants on Reflection, I think I like the ambiance of the Tuscan Grill the most. We had a seat by the window, and although it was dark, it was still nice.

I started with the Carpaccio di Manzo and DH had the Steak Tartare. Next was the Caesar Salad and the Minestrone Soup. We enjoyed all these dishes and I forgot to take any pictures :).

For Dinner I ordered the Rib Eye with Gorgonzola Butter and Art ordered the Filet Mignon with Wild Mushroom Marsala sauce. We ordered the Spaghetti Bolognese and Sauteed Spinach as side dishes. Everything was great. So far we've had no complaints about the quality of the food. In fact, it has exceeded our expectations.

For dessert we split the Pistachio Creme Brûlée. Art topped off the night with a Lemoncello.

Our usual night cap at the Ensemble Lounge and another day comes to an end.

I am really enjoying your review. I was also on this cruise and your review is bringing back some wonderful memories. We too had lunch at The Patio upon boarding at noon and had dinner at Tuscan Grill on San Juan night. We went up to the wine and cheese event, but it was raining a bit and wasn't busy so we left. Now I'm sorry we didn't stay. We didn't spend any time in Michaels, but ended most of our evenings in the Ensemble Lounge for a nightcap. An absolutely great cruise!

Loved the location of this cabin so much, we booked it again for our next cruise. It is right outside the automatic doors to The Hideaway. Decent coffee is just steps away. It is also close to the elevators and an easy ride to the pool, the buffet and many other venues on the ship.
  21. Sorry another newbie question might as well add it to this thread rather than create my own.

I have the classic package as part of the 123 offer too. Can anyone provide me with a list of drinks I can get for that. Baileys is my number one choice as I love my baileys. A list would be great for both alcoholic and non alcoholic drinks with prices. Thanks

    Hi Yellowfubaby,

I don't have a list of drinks you can get, but I do happen to know firsthand that Baileys is definitely available on the classic package.

    Enjoy your cruise :)
