  1. Thanks! I am having the best time, and am really looking forward to Auckland :)

Hi Safarigal, loving your blogs. Keep them coming😄

It is so nice to sail along with you. Bringing back happy world cruising days for me.

    Have a great time.

  2. I. Have booked QE for June 2018 as she is making four maiden port calls. She is calling in Lithuania, Latvia, Poland, plus other ports including overnight in St Petersburgh. It is the only cruise that calls at theses ports.

We also book the follow on cruise to extend the trip.

Booked it whilst on board and got the low deposit and extra OBS.

  3. I had sound and visual problems on FLL, PE, and Tampa webcams today! Even so, I did get to see most of the dam sail-aways and heard the toots. Not going to wait for the other Celebrity. See you all for Eurodam tomorrow.

    Thanks Peter, Lou, and Dave!

Hello Kathy, just done a month on QE. Missed you. It was excellent.

We are going to be on this Rotterdam cruise next

April are you joining us? Sending you holiday wishes and Seasons Grettings. Good health. Maggie & JT,MBE.

  4. We are on board too, currently rocking and rolling in the Bay of Biscay.

We had a meet and greet in the Commodore Club at 2pm yesterday, which was attended by more Facebook Cunard Critic people than Cruise Critic, but still good to meet everyone.

Can't wait to get to walmer climes.

    Hi Lynne

Hope you are having a good time.

Yes, the FB group is very lively and there are many members onboard for this cruise and the next three cruises on QE.

Good to see you still attend the meetings. Have fun, Regards Maggie

  5. Luckily I have pretty good sea legs and never suffer from sea sickness (even when tottering around in four inch heels).1069 is pretty much midships and a low deck, I believe this to be advantageous . One other important point I love the pillows and found the bed to be comfortable . One negative, the TV was not mounted on the wall but sat on the desk/dressing table taking up valuable space...Have a wonderful time .....:)

Hi Poshtotty, off topic but not seen you online for a while. Hope you are well. I am back on QE this month if you are onboard let me know. Regards Maggie. X

  6. Hi trippers

Look forward to your posts - while your out and about on the ship if you can get any info on the pool in the spa - is it big enough to swim in? How much does it cost? Is it a place to relax in instead of being on deck ?

Love the pics cabin looks fab so glad we have booked that one

    Ellie

There is no swimming pool in the spa. It is a thermal hydrotherapy pool. The pools are out on deck as stated by Bell Boy. There are nice relaxing lounges in the spa where you can relax and chill out. Take a tour of the spa when you get onboard. You need a member of the spa to take you in as it is not accessable unless you have made appointment. The sauna is next to the gym on QV and QE and I'd free to use.

The cost of Spa useage may be found in your personal voyager where you can pre book treatments. By the way the beds on Cunard are very comfortable. Enjoy your cruise.

  7. Following with interest if you get chance to upload pics of the cabin that would be really good

As well as dance classes do they do Zumba ?

Hi, I can answer your question re Zumba classes. They have never had them on a Cunard ship that I am aware of and I am a regular Cunard traveler. There are fitness classes such as Pilates and yoda stretch classes and fab abs.

Tango queen thanks for your reports. I am doing the same cruise on QE. I join the ship on the 22nd for two cruises.

Hope you had a good day in Maderia.

  8. Have a wonderful cruise Hattie. I nearly booked this but it was a few days too early for me as I finish work next week afer 54 years. Prices were so cheap on this cruise, so next year will look out for it again. Last year QE repsositioned for very low prices.

Enjoy and I look forward to your reports. I am going on QE for month later this month. Have fun. :)

  9. Quite an easy walk . Not too far. Last year on QE we took a Cunard tour which was fantastic. To see the colourful houses and terrific scenery, a photographers delight. Well worth the trip. Have a good time.

  10. I know this is a weird question, but, are there rolling wardrobe carts available on the QE? Like what a valet uses when transporting clothes and luggage from room to room.

We will be on this ship for one hundred days, and the storage space is terrible. A friend of ours on a Celebrity cruise was able to,have his steward bring one of these racks to his room for his entire voyage. They hung all of their clothing on these racks because of limited closet space.

Does anyone know if these carts are available on this ship?

Hi, we have done four world cruises of over 100 days each and like to dress up. I have taken as many as 120 different outfits for evening alone. not to mention 40 pairs of shoes. Plus my husband has his collection of clothes etc to fit in the cabin. I take my own slim line hangers. Remove all Cunard ones as they are lovely but take up too much space. There are two large drawers under the bed. Plus as Scrapnana said you can switch clothes around. We keep all winter clothes in a suit case under the bed. Out door heavier coats etc can hang on the hooks on the wall. Unless you are in a suite there is no room for an extra rail. I take a folding box type thing from Ikea that you would normally use for under storage bedding. I put things in there under the bed.

I also Ikea folding shoe boxes for shoes. Suit cases, I get the steward to remove them, as often have 19 pieces of luggage on a long voyage. I often say the best thing to do is get the sofa removed if possible as it always ends up as a dumping ground for things you buy as the cruise progresses plus, you can get extra drawers like Scrapnana posted either buy them in Ikea or ask as I know they have them on QE.

Have a great cruise and do not worry about having too many things 100 days is a long time to be without your favourite things around you and have fun.

  11. Hi Maggiemou, we have a similar plan. My DH has a big '0' birthday during the holiday we're looking at! Hopefully there will still be some options left to book in November. I can't believe how much is already booked. Which cruise are you on in November? We're on the QE 12 nights in the Canaries.

Sent from my iPad using Forums

Hi Allie I am on the Nov 22 QE cruise for 12 days and staying onboard for the following cruise which is 4 Dec.

May see you onboard. I often hold a meet & greet but not looked into this time. I must check the roll calls.

    :)

  12. I have a good idea which we will be booking as it is my big birthday with an "O" on the end, so like to have a party onboard. However, I shall wait till we are onboard in November and leave a future cruise deposit and check out the best rates. If not we will have a FCC in place if prices come down. Some of them are pretty high at the moment.

  13. Which brand of ear plugs do you recommend? I've never used them before.

    Thank you.

I always have to sleep in earplugs as I can not sleep if there is any noise from A/C etc. we book a quiet part of the ship and I also can't sleep if light comes in around the Windows.

Boots ( if you are in the UK ) sell good industrial strength earring plugs.

  14. Having done a few world cruises on Cunard,we always book the cabin we want. We choose the location very carefully and we know where we want to be and we book it. Never been disappointed on a full world with chosen cabin. However, do not expect an upgrade. Full world cruisers are not known to ever receive an upgrade as it is too long a voyage. Segments get upgraded but not full voyages as far as I have ever known.

  15. We had a huge problem on deck four earlier this year on a world cruise segment We were near the cabin you mention and we had horrific noise 24/7 from one life boats that had an alarm going off continually.

We did complain numerous time to no avail as the front desk ( pursers desk ) were not helpful. It got so back I reported it to the Captain after she asked how I was. Action was taken asap to turn off the offending alarm. It was turned off during sleeping hours and still went off through out the day. Drove many people crazy.

We had stayed on deck four previous and did a full world crusie on that deck without any noise.

I did receive an apology from the Captain and also a huge bunch of flowers and I hope the problem was fixed after we disembarked.

  16. We are diamond members twice over if you count the days sailed onboard, we have never ever been offered an upgrade. I tend to find it is newer cruisers who get upgraded as we old sea dogs are known to be hooked into Cundards. 😄

  17. Just to add to my previous post. I prefer Cunard.

I have sailed on P& O many times in the past when P& O was a good brand . In the 1980's I was a top sailor a "POSH" club Member. Princess, I used to sail on a lot and I am an Elite member. I liked their ships when they were new and before they introduced movies

under the stars with pop corn on hand.

However , after sailing Cunard for many years, they are the most consistent, they have kept themselves head and shoulders above the two fore mentioned cruise lines.

I do not do short cruises so have spent hundreds of days on the both P&O and Cunard. 99 days on P&O Arcadia in 2013 was the cruise from hell. 120 days on QE in 2014 was just amazing! Oh! BTW I hate kettles in my cabin. :)

Plus I prefer a mix of Nationalities as I do not live in the Uk and not used to hearing British people moaning daily. I also prefer the stricter dress code on Cunard and the fact I can dine in a wonderful restaurant each night at the same time with wonderful companions and the Maitre D escorts me to my table;) Each to their own so enjoy whatever you do.

  18. Poor and Ordinary is what I call P& O ( Humour)

If you are Britiish and like sailing with a ship full of Brits you will like P&O.

If you want more International passengers try Princcess, or more so Cunard.

Cunard is classier in every way. Food on a P & O is like school dinners compared to Cunard . I could write a book about the comparsion of both P&O and Cunard as there is a vast difference. In fact I did write a book about the two different lines to compare about two world cruises.

Whatever line you go for have a good time.

  19. I have an Amercian friend who is a regular world cruise passenger. We have sat together on a couple of full world voyages so I know what I am going to tell you is true. He is vegan. Has the special menu delivered daily. Nothing unusual there.

This year whilst we were on QE world cruise my friend had brought with him his own recipes for vegan meals. He wanted a change as he put it.

He handed them to the Chef in Britannia Resturant and he got his meals made up just for him.

Now sometimes they were good, sometimes not as maybe his instructions were not clear. What I am getting at here is, it doesn't matter where you dine, Cunard will always try to fit in your demands and needs.

  20.

I also sailed with Maggie on the QE in 2014. She really is a lot of fun and organized a great meeting. Her meeting time at noon worked out well. Hi Maggiemou and greetings to Mr. MM!!

I am not a member of Facebook and until I read this thread, I was unaware that Facebook gatherings were being organized. However, I see no problem with this. I will continue to participate in the Cruise Critic M&Gs and look forward to meeting more delightful Cunard passengers at each one.

Hello Beth, how nice to hear from you. There you see we do make good friends and relationships at our meeting.😄

We had such fun on the 2014 cruise and it was a pleasure to meet you. I hope you are still enjoying your cruises.

Mr MM is fine thank you. Suffering the heat here at present but it is a tough life being retired I guess.

I shall pass on your comments and we both wish you well. Regards Maggie and happy cruising. X
