  1. I wasn't comparing. I was merely speaking about our experience. Service was impeccable. In other words, all of our needs and wants were met very very quickly--no waiting, no mistakes, great cheerfulness. I don't need to compare to recognize great service.

One time we waited 45 minutes at the Patio Grill for a steak and than it was the wrong one. On the other day we waited 20 minuten if a waiter came and asked! Our room steward ask just one time on a 7 day cruise if everything is ok!

  2. I have not sailed on the Odyssey yet, but sailed on the Encore last September. Many of the posts I read here were negative about the Encore. I was a bit concerned, to say the least. All that melted away once we got onboard. It was a wonderful cruise on a great ship. Don't put much stock in negative comments, or if you must, zero in on what exactly the complaint was. Often, your circumstances will not be the same and you will see things differently. Have a wonderful time on your cruise. I know it is going to be great.

We cruised on the Encore in June 2017 and the Encore was not up to Seabourn Standards (3*food and service).

    • We just disembarked from the cruise after yours, beginning on July 23. We had a great cruise with smooth seas and good weather. We were in a humble outside obstructed cabin and I did notice some chips in the bathroom floor and that the couch looked a bit shabby, but our bed was clean and fresh and the cabin was very clean with no bad odors at all.

Maybe you were lucky or you have an other "unterstanding" about cleanness! Have you tried one of the public restrooms?

  4. I made 15 cruises on different cruise lines (MSC, Costa, RCL, Seabourn, Oceania, etc), but I have never seen a ship in such an awful condition. Disembarked two days ago in Seattle from the cruise on the HAL Oosterdam (Alaska - 16th to 23th of july 2017). Here are the pros and cons:

    Pro:

    - First time in Alaska was wonderfull

    - Good food (sometimes in the Lido Market is was not very warm)

    - friendly and fast service in the Bars and the Cafe

    - Neptune Suite with a large veranda

    - non-alcoholic-drinks not too expensive

    - nice piano-players and a good band in the B.B.King-Venue

    Cons:

    - extrem worn out ship (take a look at the pictures)

    - Lido Market extremly crowded - you have to stay in line nearly at every station

    - 25 minutes waiting time for a burger is a joke (then it was cold)

    - dirty cabin at embarkation (hairs everywhere, letter from the past cruiser in the safe, in the bathroom it smelt like urine, veranda was dirty too, we found cigarette ends on the veranda, and so on)

    - even as a suite guest, you have to pay for every specialty restaurant visit

    - AC in the cabin was a joke (either it blows warm oder cold and directly on the bed)

Here are a few photos of the condition of the ship

I was really happy at disembarkation to leave the ship. I would not go back on the ship (even it is free) and would not recommend such a dump place. Maybe in Western Europe there is an other "unterstanding" about "cleaning" and "condition of a ship".

And best of all, we had a few people getting the Noro Virus! Maybe it is because of the missing cleanness!

    best wishes

  5. We've stayed directly above. If I looked over the railing, I'd see someone within 2-3 feet of the railing. I did notice that a machine, which I think washes the outside of the glass below the railing, was often parked on the corner outside the rail of your suite. If available, try to get deck 5 as you'll get twice the veranda.

That is not possible - our cruise leaves Seattle in 13 days! Yepp!

  6. This isn't good to hear. I'm considering booking my first Seabourn cruise on Encore in July next year because of the great itinerary but I keep reading about how the food isn't good and tasteless. Even on the reviews page this sentiment is repeated. I'm not going to spend $20K for bad food. I've always been happy with Oceania's food but wanted to branch out and try Seabourn. Food is important to me, as much as the ports.

I agree with Colgal 100%! Book either an other Seabourn ship or switch to Oceania and book a Penthouse! The cabins are nice and the food is really great (we had two cruises on the riviera)!
