I have not sailed on the Odyssey yet, but sailed on the Encore last September. Many of the posts I read here were negative about the Encore. I was a bit concerned, to say the least. All that melted away once we got onboard. It was a wonderful cruise on a great ship. Don't put much stock in negative comments, or if you must, zero in on what exactly the complaint was. Often, your circumstances will not be the same and you will see things differently. Have a wonderful time on your cruise. I know it is going to be great.
We cruised on the Encore in June 2017 and the Encore was not up to Seabourn Standards (3*food and service).

I was seven times on different Seabourn ships in the last six years. But my last cruise with the Seabourn Encore was not up to Seabourn standards, so we booked a transatlantic on the Explorer in March 2018. Price was great! I like Oceania too!
-
The price is 5.200 $ per person for the F2 cabin for a 15 days transatlantic without flights.

Thank you for the quick reply!
Is it usual that there will be a cruise fare offered that you can´t find with any other TA? The difference is about $ 1.200,-- per person!

Hi!
I got a very good offer from a online cruise agency (I booked a few times there) for a Regent transatlantic crossing! They told me that as this is a special offer I have to pay the full amount at the time of booking! Is this usual for a Regent booking? The cruise departs on the 21th of march 2018!
Thanks
Stefan

Does anyone know if the Seabourn ships have a exhaust gas purification system?
The pollution of a cruiseship could be really a health problem - look at the article

Bon Voyage !
Thank you!

Congratulations! According to you Seabourn review thread you got a future credit after a complaint about your Seabourn Cruise
I am not complaining about Seabourn - it was the "Encore"! The other ships are 1st class!

A short update on my problems with the Oosterdam:
After a complaint of my travel agent, I got a substantially future cruise credit (not onboad) for my favorite cruise line (Seabourn) directly from HAL (I told them that I will not put any foot on a HAL ship again)!

- We just disembarked from the cruise after yours, beginning on July 23. We had a great cruise with smooth seas and good weather. We were in a humble outside obstructed cabin and I did notice some chips in the bathroom floor and that the couch looked a bit shabby, but our bed was clean and fresh and the cabin was very clean with no bad odors at all.
Maybe you were lucky or you have an other "unterstanding" about cleanness! Have you tried one of the public restrooms?

Currently on the Westerdam (see my review). Ship is beautiful but the cabin balconies and a lot of the decks are in bad shape. I'll bet some cargo ships have better looking decks. I'll post pics that should embarrass HAL.
that is intersting!

Sorry I forgot telling you. I spoke with the housekeeping manager on the third day and I got a full cleaning and a new cabin steward. But it was not 100% right.
On the last!! day of our cruise, the first room steward apologized and told me I should not give negative comments on the online survey because he has three kids at home and don't want to lose his job.

Last week with a norovirus in the Oosterdam!

the first three photos are from a public restroom (I think it was on deck 9 near Lido).

I made 15 cruises on different cruise lines (MSC, Costa, RCL, Seabourn, Oceania, etc), but I have never seen a ship in such an awful condition. Disembarked two days ago in Seattle from the cruise on the HAL Oosterdam (Alaska - 16th to 23th of july 2017). Here are the pros and cons:
Pro:
- First time in Alaska was wonderfull
- Good food (sometimes in the Lido Market is was not very warm)
- friendly and fast service in the Bars and the Cafe
- Neptune Suite with a large veranda
- non-alcoholic-drinks not too expensive
- nice piano-players and a good band in the B.B.King-Venue
Cons:
- extrem worn out ship (take a look at the pictures)
- Lido Market extremly crowded - you have to stay in line nearly at every station
- 25 minutes waiting time for a burger is a joke (then it was cold)
- dirty cabin at embarkation (hairs everywhere, letter from the past cruiser in the safe, in the bathroom it smelt like urine, veranda was dirty too, we found cigarette ends on the veranda, and so on)
- even as a suite guest, you have to pay for every specialty restaurant visit
- AC in the cabin was a joke (either it blows warm oder cold and directly on the bed)
Here are a few photos of the condition of the ship

I was really happy at disembarkation to leave the ship. I would not go back on the ship (even it is free) and would not recommend such a dump place. Maybe in Western Europe there is an other "unterstanding" about "cleaning" and "condition of a ship".
And best of all, we had a few people getting the Noro Virus! Maybe it is because of the missing cleanness!
best wishes

Because of the problems on this cruise, we got a onboard credit directly from Seabourn for the next seabourn cruise!

We've stayed directly above. If I looked over the railing, I'd see someone within 2-3 feet of the railing. I did notice that a machine, which I think washes the outside of the glass below the railing, was often parked on the corner outside the rail of your suite. If available, try to get deck 5 as you'll get twice the veranda.
That is not possible - our cruise leaves Seattle in 13 days! Yepp!

Hi!
Has anyone stayed in the cabin 4185 on the Oosteram? Could you see the veranda from the other cabins from the other decks above?
Best wishes
Stefan

I booked a SC GTY and got the 4185 (SB) on the Oosterdam for the sailing departing on the 16th of July! Nice deal!
-
There is no deck bbq on the new ships!

This isn't good to hear. I'm considering booking my first Seabourn cruise on Encore in July next year because of the great itinerary but I keep reading about how the food isn't good and tasteless. Even on the reviews page this sentiment is repeated. I'm not going to spend $20K for bad food. I've always been happy with Oceania's food but wanted to branch out and try Seabourn. Food is important to me, as much as the ports.
I agree with Colgal 100%! Book either an other Seabourn ship or switch to Oceania and book a Penthouse! The cabins are nice and the food is really great (we had two cruises on the riviera)!

One time we waited 45 minutes at the Patio Grill for a steak and than it was the wrong one. On the other day we waited 20 minuten if a waiter came and asked! Our room steward ask just one time on a 7 day cruise if everything is ok!
