  1. Since our first cruise, my family has always used lanyards. I spent several cruises searching for fun lanyards that match the pop culture tastes of each family member and now we all have several to choose from. It's fun gift giving before the cruise and they get to enjoy having fun lanyards. Here are just a few that I have found: Goonies Gilmore Girls - Luke's Diner Wonder Woman OU Football Aristocats The Office Minnie Mouse Grey's Anatomy My Hero Academia Beauty and the Beast Mary Poppins Star Wars
  2. I did the YouTube videos with my six year-old granddaughter, she loved them. There is a countdown on my phone, whenever she is with me she asks to look to see how many days we have left, she loves that simple thing. On a side note, when she was 5, I packed her a set of Barbie dolls that she didn't know about. I surprised her when we were unpacking on the ship. She spent most of the time that we spent in the cabin playing with those dolls. It was fun to see and listen to her play with them. I think we only turned on cartoons once the entire week.
  3. @mjkacmom If the child is assigned to the parents' room, I don't think that would be an issue. Since my grandchild was assigned to my stateroom, I believe I would have had to get off of the boat with her so she could go on an excursion that included her parents. If she and I got off together, her parents could have stayed on the boat with no issue.
  4. She will need to get off the ship with her parents, if she is assigned to their cabin. When I sail with my family, my granddaughter stays in my cabin with me (officially assigned there). I have to be the one to get off the boat with her, they need to scan my S&S Card as the authorized person along with her card even though her parents are also on the ship (and getting off the boat with us). We get back on together so I don't know if I have to be the one to be with her to get scanned back on but they were very insistent when we got off at ports.
  5. I booked last year for a cruise this month. I purchased my Carnival stock in July. I submitted the required documentation for the OBC and have received it on my booking.
  6. If all involved are ok with it, you can add their booking to your cruises through Manage another booking (on the right of the page) in your Booking & Order Details tab. This would list their booking along with yours and you would see all that they see such as what they have purchased, excursions booked, fare prices, etc. I have adult children that have authorized me to do this so that everything can be booked together. Their bookings then came up for Specialty Dining and other purchase options. An extra way we all benefitted was that I was able to check all of the cabins in at the same time so our boarding times were together. They logged in the day after check-in and added their own cc info for onboard spending, ID info, and anything else I skipped during check-in. The Skip option came in handy. The drawback is that I was unable to find a way to remove their booking from my list. This was not an issue for us but it may be for others.
  7. After I saw a recent thread on the mushrooms, I sent a text to my sister saying that we may need to cancel our trip! She was as horrified as I was. (know that we both love Carnival and we make each other laugh) While we will both most definitely miss the mushrooms, we will still sail with big smiles and enjoy our embarkation burgers!
  8. Are there typically comedy shows on embarkation day? I should remember this but I just don't. I am trying to plan for the steakhouse that first night but want the option to see the show if it is an option. Thank you for anyone that has a better memory than I do. 😉
  9. A missing leg would make the picture even better down the road! Instant family classic!
  10. I read another post recently where they were charged the non-refundable deposit for the no-show even though the fare is the same for single and double occupancy. I can understand the loop-hole on their end but I would be salty if I had to pay an extra amount over the fare I have already paid. I am with @tattoos, in the future, I will enter my second as TBD until the absolute last minute.
  11. Very interesting. I am not that interested in the singing in the MDR so scored those questions lower and I did not get the questions on pricing for a dinner show, just if I would be willing to pay more for a fine dining experience. This may have been a "smart" survey and adapted the questions based on previous answers. Unless I have steakhouse reservations, I eat in the MDR for the early seating.
  12. Interesting email from Carnival today. It was a survey on existing dining options and a large variety of other potential options. It looked like they were checking to see what kind of dining I'd be willing to pay an additional fee for. I am all for the steakhouse so it is that caliber of food, I may give other options a shot. But to be fair, I didn't do the Cucina when I had the opportunity on a past cruise so maybe not. 😉
