  1. I too still have many extras of the are old school whale tail pins plus some of the newer style plus a few of the unique limited edition pins to sell if of interest.  Too many to list

My email is in signature, just change to correct format.

  2. Which tour company customized a tour for you? We are a group of 6 and would like more time on Saona island than what the Cruise special offers through Seavis Tours. Did you go through Seavis or Pro Excursions?

We did this tour way back in 2006 I believe it was and used Seavis. I set it up online with the owner. At that time it was husband wife team and they were VERY good with communication and providing me proof of insurance along with anything else I asked for. They even helped set up with our taxi van drivers that took us there, a return time to be back to retrieve us. That was my biggest concern and it all worked out really well.

We really enjoyed our time at Saona and it included lunch and drinks. I do have to say we also stayed longer at the starfish sandbar and LOVED the island we went to last which is where parts of the movie Pirates of Caribbean was filmed. Beautiful water and sand with palm trees and not crowded at all.

Hope this helps and have a great time.

Try a limo company. When we looked for a shuttle to San Diego, only limo companies were willing. It was too expensive for just the two of us. We rented a car.

Could check out the Amtrak schedule.

Thank you for the ideas. I did check out one company that has a 11 pax van and its around $450 plus tip to take all. Need to read reviews before I consider that one. Limo is good idea even if we get 2 to compare to large shuttle van. Train not so sure with luggage if people are willing to go that route but will look into it as I hadn't even thought of it. Last resort is to rent a 12 person shuttle van and hope we all fit. At least we have 2 freight drivers with the type of license needed to drive those vans. Thanks again for your time to relpy.:D

  4. Planning my small group of family for Alaska in 2018. Have cruised AK twice but never did Denali. We like to be active and thinking the 3 day is good enough if we upgrade to the Tundra tour in Denali even if rushed a bit. For anyone that has done 3 or 4 days opinions please. We are looking at Aug. on Golden but the other smaller ships are in consideration so opinions of that as well are appreciated.

We are picky about our cabin preference being on deck 10 Caribe aft.

  5. I rented an ocean view cabana at the Royal Palms on April 26 for our family of 4. Our cabana was the first one to the right of the pool area and had canvas "drapes" that could be pulled close for privacy and sun protection.

Our server (unfortunately I don't recall her name) was very attentive and hardworking. We shared a jerk chicken pizza (delicious!) and 2 appetizers and had 5 beverages for a total of $119 US plus tip, plus the $100 US for the cabana. However, in our view it was worth the money for the proximity to the beach, service and privacy.

Yes the Beach cabanas are so much nicer for the same money. Those Ocean ones were not up to par with Beach ones.

  6. I'm curious also. It has been at least 20 years since I have been there. I was trying to find an excursion to take us there in June but haven't been successful in finding anything.

I found a ATV rental company that has great reviews and will do a custom ride for my group that will include a stop at Chico's. Its a pretty laid back type of off road with 70% more historic site seeing on roads then 30% off road to visit the sites off the beaten path and Chico's.

  7. I was honestly surprised at how casual the "formal" night was. I figured that I'd be on the low end of the "dress up" status in black pants and top with a lacy cover up. I was honestly at the more dressed up end of things in our section of the dining room.

Perfect that is about same as I dress so it's perfect info

  8. There will be two formal nights.

Even on formal nights, decent long pants and a nice shirt with a collar will be all right.

DH no longer takes his tuxedo. Now, only takes his navy sports coat which he sometimes wears with a white golf shirt rather than with a dress shirt & tie.

Formal evenings on Princess are way less formal than they once were.

Agree, I see most lines are getting much more casual than years ago when we started sailing. Hard when you make the change to a new line to know what to expect and good to get first hand info. Thank you

  9. Formal nights.

Yep 2, dress standard may differ by itinerary. In my experience maybe 75% Suits, 10% Tux, 10% shirt and tie, 5% less dressy still.

With AIBP why take anything on? You can definitely get bottled water with it and I thought you could get cans of soda, they're happy to give them to you unopened.

Thanks and good to know you can get unopened cans and water, that helps as I figured it would be opened and put in glasses. Thanks so much

  10. Yes' date=' you may bring on cans of soda and bottled water....but I can't imagine why you'd want to if you have the all inclusive beverage package. You can get an extra bottled water thru the package and take it back to your room. It's really easy to run to a bar or the International Cafe to get a soft drink. But then, I'm into traveling light.

On our December 7 night cruise, there were 2 "formal" nights which were more like "dress up a little" nights. Yes, the wardrobe you described is fine. And the dress up applies only to the main dining rooms. If you don't want to dress up, you can eat elsewhere.[/quote']

Thanks so much for the info. I know what you mean about traveling light but we are in San Diego so a 2 hour car trip to port with 12 waters is not too bad. I drink a lot of bottle water (NO ship tap stuff as it contains a bit of salt I can't do) and need at least 2 bottles each night. I hate to have to remember to stock up from the bars. Worth the effort for me.

I did see I can pre order online @ $6.90 for 12 so may go that way.

We love to eat in the MDR on our "other" cruise line and hope that on Princess it is just as good of food and fun. Don't mind dressing up like going out to a nice dinner every night when at home but never suits or sports coats. I will assume the formal nights are on At Sea days. Sounds great and again thanks for your info

  11. Hi, I am new to Princess and have a question I hope you can help with. I take my family and friends on cruises but on another line so I am not new to cruising just Princess. We will be doing the Ruby 7 day in Nov..

I would like to know if there are 2 formal nights on 7 day sailings and how formal for men. Suits or sport coat or is a dress shirt and tie with nice dress slack acceptable?

Are we allowed to take a 12 pack of soda and waters onboard.

We do have the all inclusive drink package so I know we will not need a lot of "take on" but enough just to have in our cabins.

    Thanks in advance

  12. Hello to all if i am in the worng forum feel free to move this to the right forum,

november 26 i will be taking a cruise on the ruby princess but i have a question about the selfserve laundry on the dolphin deck witch is also deck 9 mini suit d501 i would like to know what the washer dryer brand on the dolphin deck are are they coin op or token operated maytag or speed queen?

Thank you in advance for any answers

http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?t=2232829 On same sailing with you in Nov. There is a roll call page link above if you already haven't found it.

  13. Just off a 10-day cruise on Ruby Princess. We were lucky to have two whales, possibly a whale with her calf, swim around the ship while we were anchored at Cabo.

The whale watching boats were trailing them, but didn't interfere with their progress. Everybody on board was joking that they could cancel their whale watching excursions because they had seen two up close from the Lido deck!

On the way back from PV, along the Baja coast, we came very close to another whale that surfaced just off the starboard bow. We were very lucky! But this one was definitely heading north ...and we were out of sight of land, so I'm sure it had started its seasonal commute.

We are doing a family/friends sailing on the Ruby (1st Princess) in Nov. Very excited to try Princess and would appreciate any hints for the ship (we have balconies aloha deck) Been to the Mexican ports several times now and have our private tours set in PV and Maz but looking for possible day sail option in Cabo. Any comments are welcome

  14. Tough choice between cabana/no cabana or just renting chairs for our family. I like the convenience of the service for food and drinks, but not sure if it is worth the money. We will be the only ship in GC that day.

Frequent Floater - Looking at your schematic, I would assume cabana 4 and 9 are closer to the beach area. We have little ones so want to be closer to the water, but like the breeze you mentioned for the Beach cabana.

IMO it is definitely worth the rental fee for cabana. You have shade all day but most important space to relax. The chairs and umbrellas for the masses can get quite busy with not much room to do anything but stay put in place. With the added roped off cabana space, you room to let the kids play without having to worry about keeping eyes on as they are right there. Ocean cabanas 1 - 3 are right on the water with a bit of sand around and might be great for kids. Beach cabanas 4 - 9 are set back more so if kids are in water, you have a hard time seeing down that way past the masses in chairs.

I am not able to upload photos that could offer a better idea for you but you are welcome to email and I can send some of actual day we were there and the space we had

  15. We are debating about renting a cabana at royal palms.. we will be the second cruise ship to arrive in port that day (I believe Carnival and RCC will be the only ones the day we are there). Carnival will arrive at 8 and we arrive at 10:30- I guess my question is.... will it be super crowded by the time we get there around 11:30/noon-ish? And thus need a cabana? We have two young kids who most likely will want to be in the water the entire time- so ideally would like a spot closer to the water- but don't want to miss out on a chair due to crowds.. we are going in mid May. Thanks!

There were 5 ships in GC the day we were there thus the crowds. You should be fine to rent chairs and umbrellas if that is what you prefer. The entry fee, chair and umbrella rental will cost you close to half of what the cabana rental depending on how many of each you rent. I thought the $100 was good rate for cabana to have the table and chairs to eat at plus a bit more free space to self.
