  1. I indeed did use Seavis tours in Bayahibe for my groups day of fun, eat, drinks and beauty while in La Romana.

First let me say, this is MY opinion only.

My frustration trying to find info on this port was few and far between back 2 years ago. This was on the first cruise of a B2B for us back in late March 2011.

Because I had my group of 40+ persons on the first leg with us, I wanted to find a fun active tour for all of us.

That is what this group is used to doing. We are not the resort hotel types nor do we care to sit on the ship when in port.

We deposited this sailing a year in advance so I had lots of time to research. I think I spend a months time looking everywhere for advise about what to do in La Romana.

Now remember my experience was for a group, not just a couple.

I needed to find a company that could charter a tour for the entire group of us. This sometimes makes a difference.

I was lucky enough to find several great reviews about Seavis tours from individuals on the Trip Advisor boards.

I had one gal tell me that the port was inclusive to the AIDA cruise line (think thats it) and that the only taxis, buses etc. allowed into the port area where for ONLY that lines tours.

I knew right there that getting a private charter bus for the group would be troublesome so we opted to use the port taxis.

I can say that if you find something you want to do, ask the tour vendor to get you the current taxi rate. Then expect it to change a tad bit. There is a language barrier unless you speak Spanish.

Once you port, you walk up a small hill to a gate where the head of taxis awaits you (AKA the gate police by many posters). She asks how many and where to. In my case I needed 4 vans with 10 or 12 in each van and did not want anyone else in with us or any of my group thrown in with other persons going different destination. Again this is my experience so I can't speak about other individuals that may have been traveling by self. I imagine that no taxi leaves that area until its full or you pay the full van fare yourself.

The trip to Bayahibe is about 20-25 minutes. It is a small place but if using Seavis all their employees wear turquoise shirts. Apparently we could not get thru to our driver "Seavis tours" but we all did manage to make it there fine.

I suggest that you also ask you tour vendor if they contact the taxi to return and pick you up. I make it a point to get a business card from the taxi driver just in case!!!

I know there are other companies in and around Bayahibe that rent boats.

I am only comfortable with well know companies that have no issues faxing me their bonding and insurance info. Seavis was more than helpful with everything I asked of them.

If you have any questions just ask.

  3. I also have the Festivale pin. I know CCL had them, all be it late in the game, but do not think they had many. Therefore only a few ever show up on EB and they are expensive.

My concern with the ones showing up now is if one is a copy, they all will be. Maybe it makes no difference to some but the person listing them should include that they are copies or faux pins.

Here is the photos of the Festivale I have and also the "rare" centennial Jubilee/Statue of Liberty

  4.

Sure hope my good friends JR or JoeB can shed some light on these pins to verify if they are indeed a re-make of the originals or in fact a genuine original.

  5. Any luck getting those trade pins from the person that hadn't yet sent them?

AD5ZA sorry to hear that you also had issues. most likely the same person??

Guess I got lucky that I never did trade with that person.

  6. I would like to buy or trade for a few of the new Platinum pins given out on the Magic. They do not have the ship name just Carnival Platinum.

I know JR and JoeB would also appreciate one..

Thanks to anyone that can help us

  7. Hello Fellow Pin Collectors.

After all the years I have been putting :):):) on faces for no charge,

I have finally had some one take advantage of me. :( While trying

to make a trade to get a pin for another collector on this board,

I sent some one 4 pins to trade for this pin plus other pins. The

person did not comply with the trade and did not send me my pins.

Being the person I am, I will not mention their name. I am only warning

you to be careful with who you deal with if you make a trade.

I will not let this stop me from helping others out, since I LOVE to put

a :) on a face. I will just be more careful.

    JR

OH NO the best =) maker is =(((( I can't believe someone would not hold up their end of a deal with you. I sure hope that they will make it right or at least explain what is going on.

Not only have they dissappointed you JR but also the person that you were helping get a pin.

If there is no explaination from this offender, then they will look forward to KARMA for their deed.

Hang in there and hope for the best!!!!

  8. Anyone have a Legend or Fascination they want to trade? The Fascination can be dated 2001 as that is the year we sailed and we didnt get one since it was our 1st Carnival Cruise.

I Traded my daughters Legend pin last year to someone on CC and now she decides she wants to save them :(:(

Anyway I have pins from the Spirit, Valor, Conquest, Triumph, Pride or Liberty I can trade.

    Thanks,

  9. I booked through the ship. We did contact one private company. They said they didn't have enough time to go there on our cruise.

Yeah I heard that checking on several tours for my group.

I found a few that told me its a 30 minute taxi ride to about anywhere from the pier. So that means you have to plan an hour + just in travel time. I got a tour company to customize a tour time frame for Saona. I am sure with a group, it is easier to do than with a couple of persons. Each tour company has own section of beach over on the island. I have heard great things about the island, food and beach so it should be wonderful. Supposed to be nicer than Catalina Island

  10. We are going on the Conquest in September and I am going to book this week. We are going with another couple and thought about getting the joining room. Does anyone have any upsides or downsides to these rooms? Is the joining door worth it or should get just get regular rooms next door to each other.

I have booked the connecting rooms on the Miracle B2B with DD/SIL. I would also like to hear from anyone that has been in them. Pros Cons all info is appreciated.

Location is deck 7 aft portside balconies 7268/7272

  11. lol i just had a blonde moment, omg lol but any way did those ships have pins?

I heard they had pins just that they looked totally different than the funnel pins for all other ships. I am sure there are not many out there.

JR or Joe may have photos of those pins.
