  1. Hi Guys,

I am sailing her in a few months and have been scouring the boards for reviews but they have been few and far between. I love to sail ships vicariously before I actually board them and reviews(especially picture reviews:)) always help me do that.

Can anyone point me to some.

    Thanks in advance.:D

I'm surprised that they ship is still in rotation! That was the very first one I cruised on. So much fun!!!

  2. I'm just curious what would be done to a guest who jumps off the ship...not while it's moving, but in port?

We saw a person jump off the ship in port on a recent cruise, then swim to shore. It wasn't a long swim and the person jumped from deck 3.

We figured Carnival would know when the person tried to get back on the ship since they didn't "bong" out the gangplank.

    Thoughts?

Glad you clarified that it was in port. My first thought to the question posted in the subject line was ..... die.

  3. I'm sure this had been answered before but I still can't search.

We just upgraded to a balcony cabin on the Pride with my 2 children, 2 and 4 now I'm worried do all the balcony doors have child locks?

Friendly suggestion.... bring a bunje (sp?) cord with you to keep the door open. That's what we did (when the weather was nice) and it kept the kiddo from going in and out. The doors are kind of heavy so I was always worried about him getting his fingers slammed.

  4. I was reading several threads about the free cruise offer a number of Carnival Cruisers, but not all, received. To be honest, I really didn't have much of an opinion (Good for Them!, Not Fair, Why not me? etc.) UNTIL I got an email from a good friend today. She got one of the offers and is now booked to go in June as soon as school lets out (She's a teacher). The funny thing is I was the one that introduced her to cruising in 2011. Her first cruise, my first time on Carnival. Since that date she has sailed twice with Carnival with her husband, and I have sailed 3 times with mine. Neither one of us spends any money in the casino, and I know my on-board bill is always much higher than hers.

Anyway, happy for her, but now that someone I know got the offer and I didn't I have to admit that I am just a little bit annoyed with Carnival. Doesn't mean I will never sail with them again-Guess I'm just not feeling the love.

I'm one of the "lucky ones". Its funny how things work - not much of a gambler either. Have taken over 10 cruises through Carnival, and didnt take one last year. This year we were trying to figure out what we were going to do (times are really tight), and we got this wonderful gift. All 3 of us are going on a 4 day trip in a premium balcony for 500.00 (tax included). Sometimes you get lucky - sometimes you don't. We just got lucky this time.

One thing to keep in mind... they couldn't offer everyone a free cruise at the same time. Maybe, just maybe, you're time is coming soon and we were just the first round. I'll keep my fingers crossed for you!

  5. We booked deck 7 aft, were you able to see the deck below you? It's our first aft and I'm starting to regret it already ......we to are on breeze. I don't like the idea of the deck above us being able to look down on us.

It's really no different than the other balconies. People can lean over and see you even on a side balcony. As long as you're not out there naked and getting it on you should be good:D.

You'll love it. Don't overthink your decision.

  6. One small incident- There was a couple on our deck, the husband was in a wheelchair, and he refused a handicap room. They had major trouble getting his wheelchair and scooter into the room. The steward went to get help to left him. He was so drunk and talking crazy the stewards left him on the floor in the doorway. As we were walking by I noticed the wheelchair in the doorway and it appeared he had fallen out of it. We asked if we could help, so boyfriend picked him up and put him back in the wheelchair. The entire time he proceeded to tell us how his wife was no good and worthless etc. On one night he was so drunk running into folks with his scooter could not find his room, so we took him back to the room, when wife opened the door she stated.. I was hoping he went overboard.

Now we know why they left him in the hall. I would've left him too!

Glad to hear you had such a good time! Going in march and really looking forward to it!

  7. No questions, no comments, nothing in particular to say. Just wanted to share my excitement with people who will understand.

My husband and I are boarding the Carnival Miracle TODAY for a two week cruise to Hawaii. After almost a year of waiting, it's finally down to just a couple of hours.

    Have a wonderful time! I don't even know you and I'm jealous!!!:D

  8. From what I know, if you book through carnival and not one of the other sites, they will guarantee you the lowest rate.

So, if you book it for $1000 now, and you see it go down to $750 two months from now, all you have to do is call Carnival and let them know and they'll give you a refund or an onboard credit.

    Hope this helps!

  9. We have been on the Triumph twice, last time in 7419 right below one of your mentioned cabins. That 185 ft has to be incorrect, but the balcony is the same as the L shapes like 7419,an 8B category. 8422 is considered a premium balcony 9B category. On fare viewer on a March sailing it is $500 higher for two passengers because of the larger size, I assume. Those would indeed be excellent cabins IMO.

Wow! Thank you for the info! Since the price we paid was the same for a regular balcony - I guess we got a deal (loooveee to get a deal on a cruise! :D). Thank you again for the info and have a great New Years!

  10. Go to cruiselinerooms dot com, and check out both Victory & Triumph. For each, people have posted pics for room 8422. Victory has more pics, including of the balcony. Those rooms are listed as 185 sq.ft. indoors, as are almost all Carnival rooms, even if they're less or more than that in actuality. But this room is clearly quite a bit larger than a typical 185 sq.ft. balcony room. Much wider, plus a longer balcony-about twice as long. They are category 9B premium balconies. I would suggest that if there are any still available (probably not this close to sailing), to go for one of the aft wrap balconies, category 9C. Right next door to the 9Bs, and in the same spots on decks 7 & 6.

As long as it is a closed-loop cruise, starting & ending in the same U.S. port, you can cruise with birth certificate & photo ID. Just don't get left behind in one of the ports.

Thank you for all the great information! I did check and the wraparound balconies are taken, but I'm still thrilled that we were able to get the larger room/balcony at the same price as a standard balcony. Appreciate all the advice and info!

  11. Hi all! We're in the process of booking another cruise and I noticed that the Triumph had a couple of rooms that looked bigger on paper (8422 and 8427) Has anyone ever been in one of these rooms? Are they bigger?

Also, I need to see what the rules are for travel to Mexico. Can we still travel without passports, as long as we have birth certificates? Taking the cruise in March.

    Thanks!!
