  1. Show up ON TIME for muster....it's rude to make everyone wait on you.

This is so true. People are sitting and waiting for everyone to show up to get this over with. It can be a bit long and boring waiting for the stragglers. Everyone is anxious to get their vacation started, especially when you are standing on the sunny side of the ship and it is hot and crowded. Be considerate.

  2. THis coming winer will will be taking our second carnival cruise so therefore will be red. There will be 6 of us, 2 adults 4 kids sharing 2 connecting rooms. Being red we get the 1.5L bottle of water. My question is will we get one bottle per cabin, or 1 bottle per person?

One bottle pp. Just make sure it is the bottle that is gifted to you. It will be a little shorter than the other bottles. The taller bottles that are in the room already will be tagged and you will be charged if you open them.

  3. i just did my online check in for for the conquest October 21st. The first available time was 11:30-12:30. I purchased faster to the fun. So I was kind of surprised at the time. I called carnival and they told me this was the first available.

When I cruise royal Caribbean we are at the port at 10am through security and onboard by 10:45.

Can anybody who has used this in port everglades tell me if this is the earliest time, what time they let you in the terminal?

I want to make sure that I am getting what I paid for.

    Thank you!

With FTTF, you can arrive at the terminal at whatever time you want regardless of what time you select when you did your online checkin.

I am going to be on the Conquest Oct 27, the day that you get back, and will be going to Bermuda. I also have FTTF. Wouldn't be without it. No worry about checkin time. They just need you to make a selection so they can have an idea of how many people will be at the terminal at a given time.

  4. STT is on Atlantic Standard time, so will be one hour ahead of EST. If you were still on daylight time, there would be no change. EM

Florida Governor recently signed a bill making Daylight Savings Time permanent in the state of Florida. Will be interested to know how that is going to affect times aboard ships sailing out of Florida. I understand that they are waiting for final Congessional approval so not exactly sure if it goes into effect this Fall or not. I am a Florida resident. Waiting to hear myself. IMHO this will surly be a bit complicated as it relates to cruising out of Florida.

  5. Has anyone ever dined solo in the steakhouse? I am worried I would be awkward being alone in this dining area. Any experience with this?

This is my opinion and my opinion only. I have dined alone in many restaurants on and off ships for the past 25+ yrs since my wife passed away. Have never had a problem and I am used to that. Having said that, there is nothing wrong with eating alone in the steakhouse. My only thing is that, because of the surcharge, I would just as soon eat in the MDR or even the buffet as I feel that the steakhouse experience would be more enjoyable when sharing the time with someone as it does seem kind of special. Please don't jump all over me as this is only my thoughts. Everyone is entitled to their opinion.

  6. Just thought I'd share this video posted by Carnival Cruise News on YouTube today. They have the video as unlisted for some reason so you won't be able to find it without the link. What an incredible story.

This made the news today. Unbelievable rescue. The guy they rescued had been treading water for 22 hrs. He better find a church to go to on Sunday. Thanks go to the Carnival Glory crew.

  7. So, first impressions are that Carnival staffs for lines. And then as a customer you wait or not, your choice. Eat or not, also your choice. Have a drink or not- again, your choice, depends on your threshold for waiting in line. Mine happens to be limited.

No MDR on embarkation day. So, everyone has to eat on 9 at the buffet, Guys, Pizza or the Mexican cantina. Why not have those open???

    Line at Guys

Deli is open with a line as far as you can see

    Half the buffet is closed

And half the buffet is open with a line as far as you can see...a244a499b98e695079e66a7f48085066.jpg

Wait for it, the longest line yet, pizza! a724ba57328bcaf4c8be99b01c16ac39.jpg

Just wow. Your customers deserve more Carnival... no one vacations to wait in line!! My humble opinion. Charge little more and staff you facilities maybe???

MDR is never open on embarkation day until dinner time.

  8. Your last sentence kinda, sorta, maybe makes sense.

Carnival is the one who has early/late Check-in line and as long as they have that it's on them not the pax.

We were 45 minutes early and there was Nobody in any line. Breezed right through without a word said.

Had they told us to wait YES we would have.

OP that was Miami for the Vista in May.

That is/was exactly my thought. If some get there early in spite of supposedly having a later checkin time, and there are very few in line or in the terminal, then, at their discretion, they would allow some early arrivers to start checking in. Makes sense to me. It would then be to everyone's advantage. Of course, then, these are the people who will come on here and say that they were allowed to enter the terminal early.

  9. Thanks for your great review and all the pics. That cruise just seemed to fly by didn't it? Next time you need a longer one, like a 7-day cruise, and make sure Abbey gets to visit Atlantis next time LOL.

I will be on the Conquest sailing on Oct 27. If Mark is still playing, I will say "hi" to him and tell him how much I enjoyed your review and the fantastic pics. After reading all of your comments, I feel like I know y'all.

  10. I have read where people mention making monthly payments on a cruise. How does one do this? Do you have to book through Carnival, and set it up with them? Or can you set up payments with anyone? This seems like a pretty easy way to pay for a cruise up front.

I have had a Carnival MasterCard for a number of years now. I always pay monthly using that card as it gives me 2 points for every dollar that I spend on Carnival. Then I just pay the credit bill back monthly. Love it that way.

  11. Did Carnival just recently change their online check in process? We are booked for a May 2019 cruise and we had already started our online check in. Now when I went back to do more of it, it says it can't be done until 90 days prior to sailing.

They just recently changed when you can check in online to 90 days prior to cruise date.

  12. Hello - I thought there was a site or maybe it was on here, where you could plug in your cruise date - and the cost you paid and it would notify you if there was price drop. Any help??

There used to be a site here called "Fareviewer" but has been taken down. No one knows why. Even my PVP can't understand why it is no longer available. The only way to check for lowered prices is to periodically do a "mock" booking and see what the price is currently. Then you can contact Carnival and apply for the price reduction.

  13. Just like Carnival make it as hard as possible. Used to be easy on boats to book a cruise. Just go to your TV and book it. I thought maybe they were selling drinks at the excursion desk so they wanted lines there. If you are going to push booking before you get on boaard, why would you not sell all excursions ahead of time. Oh i forgot they are selling drinks at the excursion booth

Why the sarcasm? It is a feature with a very limited number of people. This particular event (not an excursion) has been offered on ships for a long time. But, because of the nature of it, it is first come first served and not offered online so as to give everyone a chance to take advantage of it.

  14. They do offer 4 night cruises from New York, but 3 nights will not be enough time. You need at least one whole sea day each way in order to arrive, and typically a little late arrival or a little late departure. Your best bet may be to drive up to Baltimore and book a 5 night on the Grandeur of the Seas on Royal Caribbean, which will overnight in King's Wharf, giving you about 26 or so hours in port if I'm correct. The ship is smaller and manageable, and will give a good taste of what cruising is like.

But, if you don't want to try Royal and the Norfolk region is your preferred departure, you could take a short cruise from there, or drive south to Charleston or Jacksonville and board a different Carnival ship for a 5 night Bahamian cruise. All good introduction options.

I believe that the Carnival Pride in Baltimore makes periodic cruises to Bermuda as well. I know they did at one time unless itinerary has changed.

  15. The taxi tour rate is set by the government at $40.00/hour for 1 to 4 passengers, minimum 3 hours (not sure on that).

    SBtS

I understand that the hourly tour is $40.00/hr. Not a problem, but what is the appropriate tip that one would give the driver? I am usually a good tipper, especially if the service is exceptional.
