thanks for the replies. i think i'll bring a plastic tray and plastic clamp so the security scanners don't see metal parts.

i'm going with my elderly father and our balcony guarantee was just assigned a BF on deck 8. the balcony table looks incredibly small, like it wouldn't even hold a plate and drink and i think he is going to spend much of his time in the cabin and balcony. any ideas or tips on getting a bigger table? i was thinking of bringing a cafeteria or serving tray and a "c" type clamp and attaching those to the table. any idea how big a clamp i would need? or are the tables much bigger then they look? i'd like to be able for both of us to eat out on the balcony.

i did a back to back recently on the divina and got moved around the mdr several times. that is another story but i did sit with someone for a few nights who had a electric wheelchair and handicapped cabin and the couple loved the cruise and there was plenty of room for the wheelchair by our table. one thing they said is their bathroom shower floor didn't have a drain plug. yes, it does sound weird. they said they lined towels on the bathroom floor to stop the shower water from leaving the bathroom and soak it up. i gotta believe the drain was hidden behind the toilet or something and was hard to see and didn't work well. i spent little time in the theater but lots of scooters and people sitting on them were in the back row and the sound and view was fine.

carnival and the other lines have had some better deals lately like the 35 hour sale.

on my solo b2b in oct i was upgraded from inside gty to outside midship and mid deck. i was happy. a inside gty couple b2b had a inside the first week and a balcony the second week.

i did a back to back on oct 11-18th and a switch to smaller cups happened on the 18th. i asked several crew members about it and got cock and bull stories. 16oz cups when the cruise was ending on the morning on the 18th and 8 or 10oz cups when i got back on the ship later in the morning after i got back on from clearing customs.

there are also some promotion times during the cruise when they lower tables to $3 in the afternoon.

You are wrong its 138 SQ FT.
i'd exchange my 102 sq foot cabin on the ncl norway with 3 people in it for this one.

had it happen the first day of a cruise when a passenger was ill and the ship turned around to race back toward port. reversed ports and the week was sunny one day and rainy the next. the new schedule gave us rain every port day. oh well. stuff happens.

with the vouchers i'm assuming they have a serial number, your cabin card is scanned or some other security measure is in place when you use them. they can't be lost or stolen and then used can they?

1st msc and i booked a back to back in oct. college and nfl football along with the mlb playoffs i'd hate to miss. will they have the networks [fox, abc, cbs, nbc] to get weekend football games and maybe a european sports station for the monday and thursday nfl? fox carried a few of the mlb playoff games last year but i doubt a european sport channel is going to show mlb.
going solo. please only one 'why go on a cruise to watch tv?' comment per customer.

One hitch with them, I don't think they have the trolley system, which has a line to the cruise port.

RR in suitcases, bad. However runners on your person, ok. Last I checked you go through a metal detector, not an xray machine.. I always buy 2 or 3 bottles of rum in ports, but always plastic bottles so I can stick them in baggy pockets.
just my opinion but--that would be having open alcoholic beverages in the terminal. i tried once to google if that was allowed and didn't find anything after i came back from a cruise with a alcoholic in our group who insisted on drinking from a sport water bottle filled with vodka in the terminal while waiting to board.

another msc divina 1st timer
booked oct 11th and 18th. awesome price.

yup. portholes are great for cheap solo'ers like me. i'm a thunderstorm lover type person and enjoy the sound of waves in choppy water hitting the ship. they aren't for the quiet cabin lovers. that's in the lowest deck cabins of course.

not on rccl but an italian line
what's the world's best selling record? huge argument. is 'record' a single song or entire album? host didn't understand any of the arguments and opinions of the players. no fists were thrown but tables were pushed over on purpose.
carnival
the world series question. the baseball hall of fame's official answer is the mlb world series is not named after the new york newpaper called the world
a vague question about the oldest still occupied settlement in america

the cruise director or asst was a young gal from oregon iirc. 90% of the questions every contest were about her home state and the school she went to. it was amusing the first time.
We're taking the plunge on to Divina, Good idea?

be warned if you are a fan of american sports and tv in general. the feeds were very heavy on euro soccer when i did my back to back in oct. very few nfl and college football games. some mlb playoff games weren't broadcast even those playing on a weekday afternoon, very little nhl and nba iirc because i don't follow it. if you are going during something like college basketball march madness i doubt you will be in luck. maybe someone else knows more. none of the national network stations but 2 cable kids channels.
