  1. We're getting ready to book a TA on the Regal for April , 2018 and were thinking of inside cabins mid forward on deck 15 or 16 so we can have close access to the outside decks. I do have a little problem with motion sickness but usually Dramamine takes care of it. Was hoping someone had some experience with being on those decks. I know it depends on the weather, but in normal seas has anyone experience very much motion on those decks? Thanks in advance for your response. :)

  2. Has anyone taken the Princess shuttle from the ship to the airport in Copenhagen recently and was it straight to the airport. A few years ago we took the shuttle and it didn't take us directly to the airport but instead took us to an outside area where we collected our luggage, then stood in line forever to check in for our flight. Then we had to board another bus to go to the airport. We're looking at an April TA that ends in Copenhagen and just wanted to ensure we could get to the airport in time for our flight. :)

  3. Thanks everyone, but..... looking for anyone who's actually eaten at these two venues for comments. :)

We ate at Steamers and Planks during our TA in April. My husband wanted to try Steamers and I wanted to try Planks for the barbecue so they let us order from both menus while we were seated in Steamers. The food and service were great, there was so much food we couldn't finish it all. It was 12.00 per person which in our opinion was well worth the price. Hope this helps. :)

  4. We used Smith's to go from Heathrow to Bournemouth and we were extremely happy with the service. The driver was courteous and professional and he was waiting at Heathrow with a sign with our name on it when we got there. We would definitely use them again. Sorry you had a bad experience with them.

  5. We were on the Caribbean Princess for the April TA and unfortunately, we thought the new Market Buffet was terrible. If this would have been our first Princess cruise, I'm not sure we would have booked another. We are Elite, so we've cruised on several different Princess ships but this was the first time we've had a complaint of any kind. We usually go with the flow, but the new buffet was hard to take. There are many other dining options so don't let the buffet spoil your cruise, and you may like it. :)

  6. We were on the same cruise and found the changes disappointing. The food choices were terrible and the food itself was never served hot. The new buffet choices were things like peanut butter sandwiches and breakfast for dinner which was the same thing every night. Most of the public restrooms weren't working for the entire ship. The most positive thing was the bedding in our cabin, it was the best mattress that we've had on any of our many cruises. We did enjoy the production shows, especially the last night which was a show call Bravo. Hope they'll go back to the Horizon Court and start serving the food the right temperature.

  7. We've been having problems with RCCL website and wondering if anyone else had this problem. We can pull up the website and look at everything on the site except when we try to find a cruise and check pricing, etc. the page is always blank. I also tried on some of the emails that they send to me almost daily and it's the same thing, when I click on "book" there's just a blank screen. This has just started withing the last week or so, I've never had a problem in the past. Thanks in advance for any help. :)

  8. Thanks.

Can you recommend a private car company?

Do taxicabs take credit card (from southampton train station to port)

We used Smith for Airports for transfer from Healthrow to Bournemouth last year, great service, very professional and right on time. We arranged by email before we went and called them with our credit card info. Our card wasn't charged until after our journey. We'll be using them again in April when we're in England. Enjoy your cruise. :)

  9. We're booked on the Caribbean Princess for a transatlantic cruise for April, 2017. I would like to book an inside cabin on Deck 5 so it would be close to international cafe, internet, etc, but I'm concerned about noise from the engine. Has anyone been in one of these cabins, could you hear or feel the engine noise? Thanks for your help. :)

  10. We use a Visa travel card. The card was free from our local AAA agency or you can get one at a bank for a little fee. When you get the card, the bank or agency will put the amount you want from your regular bank account. We then get cash from an ATM at whichever country we're in, that way the card isn't connected to our bank account at home. We've used them for years and never had a problem, you can use them at an ATM or as a chage card for a purchase.

  11. The best secret we found was on Deck 6 aft. If you go all the way to the end of deck 6 and go around the corner you'll find a set of double doors that aren't marked, open the doors and you'll be at the top level of 270 and the library, you can go through the library, computer stations, and down the stars to enter 270. It's well worth your time to check it out. Enjoy your cruise. :)

  12. Hi everyone, we are due to go on a cruise in the Fjords next year and wondering if anyone has useful tips regarding excursions? We will be visiting (hopefully) Eidfjord, Flam and Geiranger. And Bergen but 'm sure we can just walk about and explore there. On previous occasions we have found the organised excursions not only pricey but they waste a lot of time and when we've organised our own trips, we see a lot more. We are interested in walks (up to about 10k is our idea of a 'nice walk') and sightseeing in general. I understand there is a scenic railway at Flam, is this easy to book and reach for yourself from a cruise ship? Are there any do-able walks at either of the other locations? Or is there a 'must see' excursion that is worth the money and waiting for other people to fiddle about getting on and off the coach!? Any advice gratefully received, thanks.

We cruised to Norway a few years ago and took the ship's train excursion in Flam, it was one of the best excursions we've ever done. It went winding up the mountain to a chalet on the top, had lunch there and then a bus took us back down. You can walk to a wonderful harbor in Bergen, there's lots of things to see and do. Norway is one of our favorite places. Enjoy your cruise.

  13. When my mom was alive we booked an inside. She did not like it, I was fine with it. But my husband and I have booked OV, but more often balcony. Love all the comments.

When we book an inside on Princess we try to book Riviera aft so we're just a few steps from the back of the ship, the lovely adult only pool and fresh air. If we can't get one there we book on the Lido, that way you're just a few steps from open deck. Each ship's deck plan is different so you would want to check the deck plans first. Enjoy your cruise :)

  14. Here's the dilemma-

We currently have both cruises booked because we can't make up our minds.

They are both for April 2018. Same itinerary except different private islands so that's a wash. Anthem is out of Bayonne, Breakaway out NYC. We do find Bayonne is a bit easier. We have about the same category of balcony booked on each so that's a wash.

Here's the difference. The NCL has the ultimate drink package and gratuities included! If we add those both to the Anthem it will cost approx $400 more than the Breakaway.

Is it worth it? We do like RCL a bit better but $400 better? Not sure.

Please, I need an opinion!! We have never been on either ship.

    Thanks!

    Jill

We have been on both ships and in our opinion Anthem wins over Breakaway hands down. Sometimes it 's not about money, but about enjoying your cruise.

  15. In addition to the previously mentioned "coupons" loaded on your sea pass account, Diamond members receive three free drink "coupons" daily. These may be used during the Diamond Lounge cocktail hours and may be redeemed at most bars throughout the ship. If not used, they do not carry over to the next day.

We don't drink alcohol, can you get soft drinks in a can during those hours?

It would be nice to be able to take them to our cabin. Thanks

  16. We are on my time dining for our first cruise with our young son later this month. We plan to head down as soon as the restaurant opens - is it worth booking a time or does it tend to be easy to get a table that early?

We always use My Time dining and usually go as soon as the dining room is open because we like to have the rest of the evening for entertainment. We have hardly ever had to wait more than 5 minutes at the most.

    Enjoy your first cruise. :)
