  1. Whould you mind posting the stateroom number? I can't find any virtual balcony staterooms on Rhapsody on the deck plan.

We are in a Superior Interior cabin # 8027. We booked the cruise while on the Explorer last year and were told by the cruise planner that it had a virtual balcony, I didn't think she was right but oh well, that wasn't the reason we booked the cruise, it has a fantastic itinerary. :)

  2. On my cruise planner, it shows that all the times available for dinner are around 9:00 PM. A Royal Caribbean consultant told me that it would be ok not to make reservations as it would be easy to find a table when onboard. This doesn't seem like the case as only late times are available. Should I just book the 9:00 times, so that it is guaranteed that we get a table or should we wait till we are on the ship and try an earlier time?

We found the same thing last year on Anthem. As the date of the cruise drew nearer I looked again and there were a lot of earlier times that had opened. But once on board, we found we didn't even need a reservation most of the time or else we would book it the day of. Enjoy your cruise.

  3. We've been on both ships, in our opinion, the IOS is much better than Anthem, especially if it sails out of Ft. Lauderdale. We didn't care for the dining options on the Anthem, we would rather have the MDR which gives a variety of menus every night. We also had a long wait at the port in

Cape Liberty. Enjoy your cruise no matter which one you choose. :)

  4. We had a forward facing balcony on the Pacific Princess, and although the views were great, there was a lot of movement up front and if you're prone to sea sickness you might want to take lots of medicine with you. If you're not prone to motion sickness, you would probably be okay, on the Pacific Princess our balcony doors were never locked. Enjoy your cruise !!! I forgot to say our cruise was also in the Mediterrean in the fall.

  5. The way it has been explained to me is that when you visit another country you can usually stay 6 months without a Visa. If your passport would happen to expire before the 6 months is out you might be stuck in the other country while trying to get your passport renewed so you can return home. This isn't an official statement, but only what I've been told.

  6. I was just wondering why you can choose your cabin on Princess or you can let Princess choose the cabin for you, options, are the same price?

We almost always let Princess pick out our cabin. We've had upgrades on every cruise except one time and that was a sold out cruise that we booked at the last minute. We've gone from insides to OV's and OV's to balconys, our best upgrade was from a guaranteed balcony to the aft balcony on the Star Princess, the normal price for that balcony was 800.00 more per person than we paid. Try it sometime and if you don't like the location, you can always ask to be put back in the guarantee pool.

  7. We received an upsell offer from Princess from an inside cabin to a balcony for 79.00 PP on our 7 day Alaska cruise last year. It was a great surprise and a great cabin !!!

  8. I'm really enjoying your post, thanks for taking the time. We're going on the Explorer in October from Barcelona to Dubai, was wondering if they still offer the bag of laundry for 25.00? And do you know how much for a pair of slacks or a shirt? After Dubai we'll be in London for 4 days then transatlantic from Southampton to New Jersey on the Anthem so laundry is a concern for us since we'll be gone for 4 weeks.

  9. We took a round trip Seattle cruise to Alaska this year May 10th, and the weather was wonderful. We didn't have any rain and we even had some days in the high 60's. We went all the way up to the Yukon on a bus and saw lots of waterfalls and beautiful scenery. We also saw a lot of Orca whales from our balcony.
