  1. No. We are only there on Thursday, March 13th. Pearl Harbor is our first stop.

I wanted to see how pineapples grow, and taste a fresh one.

That night (the only evening we are in Hawaii,) we wanted a luau or wonderful food and Hawaiian music. Luaus are out because of the time and distance form the port. (We sail at 11:00 PM.) So we are going to dinner at Azure or House Without A Key. We wanted something in between.

  2. We are cruising on the Star Princess on March 5th, and will be in Honolulu for one day only. We are taking a Pearl Harbor tour in the morning, finishing at 1:30PM. We would like to visit the Dole plantation that afternoon. Questions are:

    - How far is it from the cruise ship port?

    - What is the best way to get there? We had NOT planned to rent a car. Is it a reasonable taxi ride? If a taxi ride is reasonable, are there taxis available at Dole?

    - What would you suggest we see there? Train ride? Gardens? How long would we need?

    Thanks for your advice.

  3. We are honeymooners in our 40/50's who will be in Honolulu just one night on the Star Princess, having to reboard the ship that evening by 11:00 on Thursday, March 13.

We wanted a full Hawaiian dinner experience, and ruled out luaus that were too far away from the ship's port, or don't have shows the night we are there or we're not military.

So, we are searching for that perfect dinner at sunset with a view of the water or Diamondhead or something spectacular, with Hawaiian music and perhaps a show. We don't care about the price. It's our one night on land in Hawaii.

We would love to hear your ideas. Thank you, and we wish you as much happiness in your life as we have right now.

  4. How far is Paradise Cove and Germaine's luaus from the cruise ship terminal where the Star Princess sails into in Honolulu?

We want to do a luau on that Thursday night when the ship does not leave until 11:00 PM, but we are nervous about getting back in time.

Paradise Cove said they have transportation back to Waikiki hotels, but not the cruise ship terminal. How far would a cab ride be?

Can any local help us out here with advice?

    Thanks!

  5. We are honeymooners (middle aged) who are cruising to Hawaii for the first time. Star Princess is only in port ONE EVENING... on Honolulu on Thursday, March 13th. We would like do a luau that evening. Which one should we choose?

We need to get back to the ship well before our 11PM sail away. One that offers reliable transportation would help.

    Please share your experience.

  6. Princess Cruises offers an excursion called Ka'anapali Beach Blast where they bus you from the port to the Sheraton... and you can go to their beach, get a free chair at the beach and a drink, enjoy a day at the beach, and transportation back. Water toys and snorkeling gear are extra.

Can ANYONE go to the Sheraton? Does the Sheraton allow you to pay a just fee to visit and use its facility if not a guest? Do we have to pay $59 for this excursion?

Anyone have experience here? We have 1 day in Maui, and want a relaxing beach day for our honeymoon.

    Thanks.

  7. Hello, cruisers. We are planning a honeymoon cruise in March and would love to try the 15 Day Hawaii trip from Los Angeles on the Star Princess. Anyone been on that ship and itinerary who is seasick prone?

My fiance' has cruised before many years ago, but it was on a very short itinrary -- not near 10 days at sea like this one.

    Your honest feedback is appreciated.

    Thanks!

  8. Hello. As several other posters have said, this is an amazing thread, but not being from the area, I too am overwhelmed with the volume of info. So I'll post my specific wish list:

    - Pre-cruise hotel for 8/26 (we are sailing on the Miracle on 8/27)

    - We like NICE 4* hotels, but if the value is there (a great deal), we will go Hampton Inn type

    - We have 4 people -- 2 adults, 2 kids -- 12 & 16

    - They like having a nice pool (as we are from the Northeast, and pools are premium!)

    - We might visit a local college, as we are starting to do that, since he will be a junior next year -- perhaps Univ of So. FL -- if that's the case, we may rent a car, depending on where the college is.

    - If not, we will need an airport shuttle

    - We will need a shuttle or taxi to the pier -- if one is included, that is a bonus

OK, experts -- what do you recommend????

    Thanks!
