  1. Greetings! As some of you may have seen from my excited posting from when I originally booked I am headed for solo vacation on the Escape in just over two weeks.

Today I finally booked my post cruise hotel plans and got a great deal on the Intercontinental Miami through Priceline express deals. I was going to do a hostel in South Beach but after what I predict will be six days of mostly constant drinking I will probably want a break and just relax. I am staying there for two nights and then headed to another Miami hotel for the next two so I can watch my SF Giants play the Marlins!!!! This will help with post cruise sadness I am sure.I just got my tickets this week and dropped a nice shiny penny for Diamond Club seats for my birthday! I will have had some practice with the all inclusive by then!

As far as being on the Escape I haven't planned any excursions. We will be stopping in Roatan Honduras, Belize City Belize, and Cozumel (I have been here before and did Mr. Sanchos with my family- Hilarious story that ended up with a few people in bad shape/cut off on the cruise). I really don't have a lot of time to plan much as I am studying for the bar and quickly realizing I know as much as Jon Snow (people who don't watch Game of Thrones that means "nothing"). I am getting a Vibe Pass so I might be tempted just to stay on the boat.

Anyways other than that everyone should just send me good vibes for the next two weeks!

I had been trying to get people to come with me until i started reading Lara_lox posts. She made me realize how much I need some quality "me" time to be selfish and do whatever I want. I am looking forward to it! It's one of the things keeping me going during this insane study time!

  2. Hi Lara!

It's great to be reading one of your reviews again.....u are the main reason I plucked up the courage to do my first solo cruise a year ago on the epic, after reading your awesome reviews & it was the best thing I ever did! :) so thank u so much for that. I am heading off on a reunion cruise next week on the escape with the solo's I met last year.....and I just have a question.....I noticed u wore shorts to Moderno? Is this allowed now? Last year we had to go to Taste rather than Manhattan as a couple of people had shorts on, so I assumed u couldn't wear them in the speciality restaurants either. It looks like u got away with it tho, if I could wear a pair of dressy shorts a couple of the nights I would be so happy! Altho I have bought a ridiculous amount of skirts now ;) I am also in 2 minds whether to take my wedges now after seeing you in yours! :)) can't wait for the rest of your review & congratulations on meeting your soul mate & getting married!! X

Hey sorry to thread hijack but I don't understand how to message people on here. Are you still doing the 14 day cruise (I saw you had posted something about Vibe) if so, I am on the 6 day leg and would love to meet other solos!

  3. Thanks for the congratulations and for reading :)

Good luck with your first solo cruise, remember it is your vacation, do what you want and don't worry about what anyone else thinks. If you like socialising, be friendly and just pluck up the courage to chat to people, you will be surprised how receptive they can be. I'm sure you will have a great time :D

Love you multi colored dress from Cozumel port!

I read through two of your reviews last night at a 3:30 am made myself stop at the beginning of your first Epic trip (i had to a doctors appointment at 8 this morning!). It has been SO reassuring to me. I will be 27 turning 28 right after my cruise. I had been bugging a few friends about booking last minute with me but after reading your reviews I am actually feeling relieved they haven't. Like you mention it's your time to be selfish. I tend to be a bit of a people pleaser and would feel the need to make sure the friend was having the best time since they are sort of tagging along with me.

Instead I will just focus on planning my outfits and will bring some books :D

  4. So timely that you are doing a new review. I am new to NCL so I have not seen any of your prior reviews. I am 27 and will be going on my first solo trip (the others have been with large family groups). I am bit nervous but I started reading your first review last night and it already has gotten me really pumped. I feel like we would be great friends, I am obsessed with clothes and have been using my study breaks to online shop for cruise outfits. Congratulations to you are your wife. You two are both gorgeous and I will enjoy learning more about you two from your other reviews. Who knows? Maybe I will find Mr. or Mrs. right on my cruise :D

  5. T-minus two weeks until the bar exam!!! Knowing that I will be drunk on the Escape in three weeks is just about all that has kept me going! I'm currently panicking and will be feeling like I surely failed on the cruise so everyone will need to take shots with me! In fact I have the perfect shirt for it!

No excursions planned and I am still trying to convince a friend to come with me. I am sure I will be okay but I just want to party with someone. I plan on bringing some books but I will hopefully be too busy to read. Lots of naps and drinks and I WANT TO WIN THE DISTRICT CHALLENGE THAT WEEK! Has a woman ever won? If not I will take home the belt for women everywhere!

If I got alone prepare for an insane live thread, I will have to share my snapchat name with y'all too!

  6. As someone who has been studying Tort law all day I sincerely hope you are suing that girl! Glad to see that you are doing great. I love you attitude. My Nana was like that as well. She had the best attitude when she was battling cancer. Unfortunately she lost and even though she was my best friend I was somehow able to make it through my last year of law school. She is the person who took me on all my cruises so naturally my "bar trip" will be on a cruise. I'll be spreading some of her ashes on my trip. Someday I want to take a cruise that dips into Antarctica so I can scatter some of her ashes so she can have been to every continent.

Sorry for getting a bit emo, I am drinking vodka in spirit of this review.

P.S. I have been sending quotes from this as a way to induce my friend to come with me on my trip so thanks for that. I bet if I told her you were coming she would definitely go, so you guys should just change you date to July 31!

  7. Here's a link to Seat Geek, which has comparisons from different brokers around the country. For the Monday 8/8 game, there is a single in row A of section 15 right behind the plate for 67.00. https://seatgeek.com/giants-at-marlins-tickets/8-8-2016-miami-florida-marlins-park/mlb/2930762

Thanks! I am looking for something a lot closer though! i am working on getting myself a reputation for stalking the manager Bruce Bochy. I did get him to sign the custom Bochy jersey I had made a few weeks ago in STL. I am think of doing the section in front of that one that has the all you can drink/eat seats. If not that I will probably do the section right behind the dugout. I am okay with waiting until the day of. I was able to score a seat second row from the center of the dugout at Wrigley when the Giants were in town for only 100$ back in 2014!

I am going to go to the club in the outfield for the game on the 9th. I have a SF Giants bikini I bought just in case I decide to go into their pool!

  8. LOVING THIS! So bummed you won't be there on my cruise in early August! We would have the best time together. You YO WHO'S made me already miss my big obnoxious family that I will be cruising without. Luckily I have always been the most obnoxious so I am sure I will make some friends easily. If not I will need to time to decompress after the beast that is the CA bar! I look forward to the updates and will use them as study breaks over the next few weeks!

  9. just checking in to say hello! So studying for the CA bar is in fact a lot worse than I thought it could be. I am going to really need this dang vacation! Still waiting to see if a friend will be joining me on this. If not I am definitely going to do a live thread. The internet package doesn't look to bad. I am curious to see how the new wifi is working.

I haven't even been on here in a while so I am going to dig around to see what the latest NCL/Escape info is! Winding down with a cocktail and some Giants baseball after a solid 12 hours of studying. -_-

Not sure if i posted this earlier but I am so excited to watch the Giants in Miami, I think I will splurge on a really good ticket for the game on my birthday :D

  10. Just an FYI, just got off the phone with NCL and they said it would no issue changing me to a balcony and then adding my friend. The price was the same as my mock booking last night. We would also both be able to get two perks. Since the price difference isn't that much I think booking in solo's is the best idea, maybe when it gets closer to the date we can call the upsell department and see how much they are willing to throw at us to get two studios close to sailing (fwiw I called the upsell department first and they said it was way too early for them to do anything. On a side note NCL also said that if we both book solos we could combine the bookings into one room later on (contingent on the capacity of the boat).

    Back to studying :(

  11. Having a balcony is always a great way to escape the crowds, but living in a confined space with someone for 7 days can rear it's own challenges... I was in 12539, which is all the way down the hall, furthest from the lounge, and it was very quiet down there. You'll just have to weigh the luxury of the balcony with having your own personal space...

I'm I think almost as close to the lounge as you can get but I am a heavy sleeper ESPECIALLY when drunk which is likely to be most of the time. I think you'e right, having my own space will definitely be nice. Even with my sister who I ADORE as my cabin mate I have wished for my own place more than a few times.

  12. You will love the Escape! I've already booked again for next year in the exact same cabin...

Awesome! I am booked in a solo right now but I just had a friend FINALLY commit to coming with me. I had been passively urging her to take the trip with me for months so I am pretty excited about it. We will see though if she comes through. I am trying to decide though if it is possible should I move with her into a balcony (it would save me less than a hundred bucks), or have her book in the studio's with me (the room next to me is actually available).

Is there any "better" part of the studio section to be in?

  13. Hey y'all! So I may have a friend who has decided to book the same cruise as me. I see on the NCL website that the per person cost for us to book a balcony is actually cheaper than if we both book studios. I have already paid in full for my trip (it's in two months), but I was wondering if anyone had any clue if I could add her to my reservation and upgrade(?) to a balcony? We might just go ahead with the two studios because the one next to me is still open, but the balcony seems like it would be amazing. Also does anyone know how might this effect the perks? I have the UBP and I know it would be important that she at least has that although a NEW balcony booking would allow two perks.

    Thanks!!

P.S. Bar exam studying is awful, we will REALLY deserve this trip!
