  1. We have been on multiple different Carnival ships in the past year and this was an issue on all of them except one. I wish Carnival would add staff to the Pizza and Deli. On one ship I felt really bad for the lone crew member working the pizza station. He was completely overwhelmed, line was so long, he couldn't keep up with making the pizzas and taking the orders, pizzas were getting left in the oven too long and burning. That does not seem like a one-person job to me.
  2. We were in a cove balcony, on sister ship Dream, under the dining room and it was perfect (I came home and immediately booked another cove balcony in a similar location). I'm a really light sleeper so I have never tried one under the galley (I've heard that can be noisy at all hours). We would hear a bit of noise every night around the same time (I think maybe it was when they were closing/cleaning the dining room) but it was brief and not bad at all.
  3. I wish they would, but we gave up waiting/hoping. We prefer Carnival but finally decided to go with NCL for Italy because we liked the itenerary so much better.
  4. And I found the same statement on Carnival's site in regard to Cucina (also free on Jubilee):
  5. From the Carnival website: On Carnival Celebration and Mardi Gras, your first meal at Chibang! is on the house… and additional visits are just $8! Great news: on Carnival Jubilee, they’re all free! https://www.carnival.com/cruise-food/chibang#:~:text=Great news%3A on Carnival Celebration,%2C they're all free!
  6. Oh sorry, I copied that directly from this article posted on the Port of Galveston website - link below (but I am certainly not an expert - not even a Texas resident) just very excited for another great cruising option. 🙂 “This is the first brand-new ship to homeport in Galveston since we became a cruise home port 23 years ago,” said Rodger Rees, Galveston Wharves port director and CEO. “We hope to have a great turnout for this historic event so the Jubilee crew and Carnival staff see how happy we are to welcome this beautiful ship.” https://www.portofgalveston.com/CivicAlerts.aspx?AID=281
  7. Yes, and Jubilee is the first brand-new ship to homeport in Galveston. The port of Galveston has posted a great article about how happy they are for the new arrival. In short, to prepare for the new, larger ship, the port invested more than $50 million in improvements and renovations to Cruise Terminal 25 and is expanding its onsite parking by more than 500 spaces. Everybody involved seems really excited about it - A huge Texas star adorns the bow of the Jubilee to honor her new home.
  8. I love Miracle, but it really depends on your expectations. If decor is important to you, Miracle might traumatize you (just kidding but she is super gaudy and a bit outdated). I only care that a ship is clean and well maintained, so I can appreciate the character. It is a mid-sized ship, so doesn't have things like sky rides and roller coasters that are offered on newer/bigger Carnival ships. I like the layout on Miracle - it didn't feel near as crowded to me as some. It's more traditional and doesn't have all extra dining venues (at no cost) and entertainment that the Excel class ships do. For future cruises have you considered Jubilee out of Galveston? Although I like Miracle just fine, we prefer the Excel class, so that would probably be my first choice, but it's really just personal preference.
  9. Is anyone planning to go to the Welcome Party? I wish we could, but we are too far away. So excited to get on Jubilee December 30th though! Portofgalveston.com Posted on: December 6, 2023 Howdy, Carnival Jubilee! Event at Piers 20-21 Dec. 20 The public is invited to join the Galveston Wharves in giving the new Carnival Jubilee a Texas-sized welcome as she sails for the first time into Galveston Harbor on Dec. 20. The celebration will be 8-9 a.m. at Piers 20-21. Bring your welcome signs and don your cowboy hats to cheer the Jubilee and her crew as they arrive to dock at their new home at Cruise Terminal 25. An airplane flying overhead with a welcome banner and a tugboat shooting its water cannon will add to the festivities. Refreshments will be served.
  10. No, not right now, but they used to. Vancouver to Hawaii was one of my favorite itineraries (we did it twice on Carnival before the pandemic). Going under the Lions Gate Bridge and past Stanley Park was amazing. I so wish Carnival would start using the Port of Vancouver again. And another vote for San Francisco, my second favorite, but I haven't done New York yet - it's on the list for next summer.
  11. I was able attend TEAMS/ZOOM meetings while on Spirit (which did not have Starlink yet) with the premium wifi package, and had no issues at all (this was a 16-day Panama Canal itenerary and coverage was good the whole time).
  12. This is exactly what happened on Celebration a few weeks ago.
  13. Cove balconies are my favorite so I would be thrilled with that offer. They are so nice and shaded/comfortable/private. I love being so close to the water. We got to see dolphins and flying fish so close-up.
  14. We absolutely love cove balconies but it looks like 2387 might be under the galley. I've heard that can be noisy. We've been in a cove balcony under the dining room and it was perfect. We'd hear a bit of noise if we were in the room in the early evening (like they were moving things/cleaning, maybe vacuuming, the dining room at close) but after that, totally quiet.
  15. Thank you - what is the earliest I should book my flight coming home? Do you have a preferred airport? I see Carnival transports to EWR, JFK, and LGA (all for the same price). Do you recommend the Carnival bus to the port as well?
  16. Funny coincidence - we were on Celebration last week and had both of these conversations. We actually have a tough time finding trash cans on ANY Carnival ship. We were wondering why. And we also noticed that although our cabin was super quiet, the one time we could hear other people was in our bathroom. I caught a cold on the ship and I would try so hard not to cough when I was in the bathroom (afraid I'd disturb other people ... if I could hear them talking, they would certainly hear me coughing!). Oh and one other thing (not new, it's been mentioned here before especially in regard to Mardi Gras) my curling iron didn't work on the ship. It would power on but only got slightly warm, never hot enough to use. I knew that from before, but had forgotten.
  17. I agree - I would go with Celebration (we just got off on Sunday). Even though we had a very full ship at 6,233 passengers, it was a great trip. Unfortunately for us, Galveston is a closer port (but still a 4 hour flight) so we will probably switch to Jubilee from now on, but I hate the drive to port from the airport.
  18. We will be getting off Celebration in the morning when you get on - it has been an awesome week (perfect weather) hope it continues for you guys next week. Have a great cruise!
  19. We are currently on Celebration and during the platinum/diamond party our CD mentioned Cookie's retirement, and these 2 driving out the airport when they heard. It did sound abrupt/unexpected, but no details.
  20. In our experience the first visit was free, any additional visits were $8 per person.
  21. We are currently on celebration - 2 in our party were right on time, 2 were about an hour early, all of us were let in at the same time but I think it's because we are all platinum. They had a separate line for diamon/platinum/suites. But even so, the early/late arrival line was super short.
  22. I think it depends on your priorities. If ship decor is important to you, Miracle will make you gasp - it's one of the most gaudy ships Carnival owns. As long as a ship is clean and well maintained, I don't care how it's decorated, so I'm fine with Miracle. We have demanding careers/work long hours and when we on vacation we want to unplug, rest, and relax. We don't participate in many activities or hang out at the bars/clubs, but instead look for a quiet spot on deck. We've been on Miracle multiple times and could always find a quiet place to read/relax. In 30 cruises we've never witnessed overly rowdy behavior, though the teenagers running through the halls and stairwells does start to get on my nerves (but that can be avoided by not sailing during school breaks). I agree with you that January should be a good time of year. Miracle is a nice sized ship and not overly crowded, doesn't have long lines for everything. We thought the MDR food was very good. Carnival tends to be a younger/louder crowd in my opinion, but on the bright side, I typically have the track to myself in the morning before everyone wakes up! 😄 You should try it - what do you have to lose ... a day on a ship is way better than a day at work!
  23. I have not heard of any specific to Carnival but I keep hearing that Tuesday, Nov. 28th is going to be the "Black Friday" of travel deals so I have a list of cruises and flights I will be checking that day. Thanks you for the reminder, I need to watch for deals on excursions, internet, and dining too. Usually people are good about posting here if they find anything.
  24. Carnival considers a higher deck an upgrade (after 30 cruises, in general I don't agree with them). But in this case, where you are moving to a spa cabin, I agree it is a good deal if you will use the spa (since it does offer different amenities). Also, deck 8 midship on Valor would be way too noisy for me, so I would take it for that reason alone. I took a look at the deck plans and can't tell for sure on Valor, but I have read here that sometimes on that deck, you won't have any type of cover on your balcony making it extremely hot. But again, not sure about this ship in particular. There aren't many spa cabins so it's possible the upgrade has offer is already gone (taken by someone else). That has happened to us - the offer was gone by the time we logged in to accept it.
