Veendam 7 day Bermuda, June 16-23, 2018, round trip Boston....decided to go now since HAL is not going back there.
-
Thanks all for good wishes! I am enjoying the Regatta!
-
Thanks, Sheila! I am happy to hear that the food has improved. I hope that continues.

I am boarding the Regatta on 4/26/18. It looks like the ship will be empty in Miami for a couple of days before we board. This is my first Oceania cruise and I have been worried about it. I have cruised HAL, Carnival, Princess, RCL, Crystal and Azamara and have enjoyed each cruise I will have a good attitude and hope for the best.
How has the food been on this sailing? Hope things improve for you.

Thank, Jakers, for the detailed report about the sideways room. Glad to know you would book it again.

Thanks, Ruth!

Thanks, Ellieanne. I hope for no squealing noises!

I will report when I return! We are on the June 16 sailing to Bermuda. We decided to book it since Hal is dropping this itinerary in 2019.

Thanks so much! It is so great to have everyone's opinions, esp from Ruth, the inside stateroom expert. We will give the sideways one a try.

I have studied many posts about inside cabins on the Veendam and other ships in her class.
I see that 548 on Main Deck is a sideways cabin. It has great space but also some noise from the crew, esp in the mornings. The bathroom light shines into the cabin when turned on in the middle of the night. This would be solved by using a flashlight. The other minor issue is the fact that opening the door must be done when anyone near the door is appropriately dressed. Many people really like this cabin.
I am also looking at 364 located on the Lower Prom Deck aft of the atrium. It seems to be under the Hudson room. It is not as large as 548 but may be quieter.
Anyone have an opinion for me? Thanks some much.

You can get more info on the European port of call forum.
We love the K and K Hotel Picasso. It is a rather new hotel with no smoking, free wonderful breakfast and great service. The staff speaks perfect English.
It is located near the zoo which is a quieter area than the Las Ramblas area. It is also near the El Born with great restaurants.
Enjoy your trip!

We were on the Eurodam Feb.4-14 and were disappointed in the thermal suite. One heated tile lounger was totally cold. Several others had heat but some areas of these loungers were not warm. The water in the hydropool was not very warm and the water level was somewhat shallow. We paid $299 for 2 for the 10 days. We have experienced thermal suites/hydropools on other ships and have never encountered such problems. I know the Eurodam has a dry dock coming up in April so maybe loungers will be serviced.

Thanks, everyone! We are looking forward to it,

Thanks, I may call them.

I will be sailing on the Eurodam Super Bowl Sunday, Feb. 4, 2018. The ship leaves at 4 pm. A few years ago there was a big party
in the main showroom on the Noordam, but it was not on embarkation day.
I fear this will not happen since the staff will be busy delivering luggage, etc. Has anyone ever sailed on Super Bowl Sunday, and if so was there a big party in the showroom?
Thanks.

Thanks so much for the photos and information.

I am thinking about upsell to Pinnacle Suite on the Eurodam. I get two different answers on the phone to this question. On the website it states king bed, no mention of splitting it. Does anybody know from experience.. can the king be split? thanks.

Feb. 4-14, 2018, 10 day Southern Caribbean Seafarer on the Eurodam ... first voyage on this ship!
Also, April 26-May 6, 2018, 10 day Southern Caribbean Dreams on Oceania Regatta, first Oceania cruise!

I see there is a SC guarantee on the Eurodam sailing on Feb.4, 2018 for 200 dollars more pp than a signature suite.
I am always confused about different levels. I see open suites in SA, SB, SC and SY categories. Is SC the lowest category of these? I think the SB options that are corner aft would be the only ones that could be a problem as I do not do too well with motion.
So what is the worst case scenario? Thanks.

We cancelled a cruise with Viking on Sept. 26. They told us it would take 30 days which I think is ridiculous. The thirty day period ended today so I called them and told them I had not received it. They told me they would report it and it could be 21 more days.
I asked to speak to a supervisor and was not allowed to at first. The person who was helping me said she would talk to him. She came back and said my deposit would maybe come in 24 to 48 hours but at least not the 21 days.
Finally I demanded to talk to the supervisor who said he was working on my refund but accounting was not open yet. Has this happened to anyone before?
-
My TA has asked them and the reply was indefinite. Thanks.

This has been discussed briefly before but I wanted to post again. Scenic cruising around Milford Sound, Doubtful Sound, etc. is not included on the 2018-19 Aus/NZ itinerary on the Spirit. This is often offered by other cruise lines. Any idea why Viking is not including this bucket list area?

Thanks so much, Ruth! I assumed from looking at the deck plan itself that 1856 is a sideways cabin. Thanks so much for the info. I know you are the go to inside cabin expert!
-
Hello, Hal experts! I am thinking of booking Rotterdam 1856 for the Netherlands to Boston 2018 Voyage of the Vikings. It is one of the sideways cabins, I have researched here and cannot find any info. Anyone with an opinion or other info? Thanks so much.

We got off Regatta on May 6. Our stop in Nassau was shortened from 7 hours to 4. The captain said it was because of rough seas getting to Nassau. I have been on many other ships that made it to ports on time in the same sort of sailing conditions. We also missed St Kitts altogether because of a medical evacuation. I am not sure there was much effort to make up the time missed because of it and we got no refund of port charges.
