  1. Our medallions don’t work exactly as suggested in regards to the cabin doors. We’ve each had them replaced and it’s even worse. We can always use them to get into the cabin. Sometimes we have to wave the Medallion in front of the screen and occasionally actually touch it. It’s designed to work smoothly with approaching the door and opening it.

  2. At check-in in the terminal, we were handed a gray lanyard that says Princess Cruises and Medallion Class, and attached to it was a plastic container for the cruise card and the plastic container for the medallion. I never wear a lanyard and usually keep the cruise card in my pocket. However, because we are requested to carry both of these things, my husband and I are wearing our lanyards. He also never wore a lanyard before on a cruise. We are paying only with the cruise card. I have not come across a place that asked me to pay with the Medallion. I did see a pay point for that in one of the shops but I wasn’t purchasing anything. Even in the casino, the cashier told me it’s easier to use my card on the machine. That may have been because I was setting up an account. Regal Princess.

  3. It's a computer screen. No paper or cabin steward time involved if it's the passenger clicking

option buttons in the Medallion app. It's a color screen, so it can even show your Captain's

Circle color, or your --what did they call it?-- tag-along avatar?

BTW, there was a promo last summer with someone official (might have even been Jan Swartz)

saying that while all the initial Medallions were going to be blue, they planned to issue them in

    your Captain's Circle color.

I was told at the service center for ***** that they will always be blue. Doesn’t mean that I believe it.

  4. I haven't been following this thread that closely but does the cabin screen display anything else but the cabin number?

I would think it could show the names of occupants, service requested, do not disturb, etc..

Just some decorations and instructions. I say that they can read anything. Names, ice requests, special instructions, etc. some of this can appear only when my or the steward’s Medallion is nearby. Anything can appear.

  5. Ah, thanks for the tip. Also purchased, for both August 18 and 25. I will ask about an adjustment for Elite once I board. I embark today but I received no offer for the August 11. I will let people know what I find out.

Is this for the Internet? Are you Platinum now? If so, it should be free once they start *****, maybe even sooner.

  6. Just got off Caribbean Princess today. Was told Medalion was starting for those embarking today.

Noticed sensors on my balcony, two in stateroom and one in the bathroom. The hot tubs even had 2 sensors IN the hot tub on the decks.

I’m in a regular inside on Regal Princess and I see one in main room and one in bathroom.

  7. The only thing that is not connected to ***** that is of great interest is the great high speed Internet at certain (or now is it all) latitudes

Sent from my iPad using Forums

I am on the Regal Princess right now sitting in the harbor for Tallin and our Internet is very nice.

  8. Number rooms, I have no idea. All indications are the Regal is being integrated with *****. The statement that gets me is work stopped on the Regal on ***** before going to the Baltic. You and others have stated this as fact many times and just does not appear to be true. Again on ***** and service center, read the posts. First hand posts and you claim different. Regal passengers have said they received their ***** before the cruise in the mail I presume. Could be FedEx, UPS, pick your poison and yet you still say you don't believe them. Yet we are supposed to take your posts as gospel. Please try and at least look at these other posts and not pooh pooh other first hand posters.

Ours were not mailed to us for this European cruise.

  9. No "doubts". I was merely pointing out to `megs1954` that any lack of observed progress aboard

Regal was not indicative of a lack of progress on ***** in general.

BTW, I also have no doubts about there being current Regal pax receiving Medallions in the mail

nor about there being an ***** service center aboard Regal. There are 110 staterooms in the *****

pilot aboard Regal still operating, right?

There is an ***** service center on Regal on deck 6. I did not receive my Medallion until I checked in to the ship. I was told on a call before the cruise that they are not mailed for European cruises.

  10. Did you take it in for service? After all the work put in findings the right range for the *****, I'm wondering if maybe a one size fits all model might be a reach. If you took it in, what did they do?

I’ve been busy, will take it in soon.

  11. Then it is possible that more staterooms have been added to the original 110 staterooms.

    Tom

My sister and I will run around the shipthis week and note all the cabins with the screens. We don’t see anymore that I have previously known.

  12. You are on the Regal, right?

Remember that no ***** work has been done on her since her trans-Atlantic last spring. All the

experimentation, range-tuning, and fixing has been happening on Caribbean since then.

I am sitting in the Symphony dining room right now on Regal Princess. We are in Germany.

  13. We have one of the current ***** cabins on the Regal, later this year.

It would be nice if ***** was actually fully up and running. Might be kind of cool.

Just have to figure out how to use all of it, the apps, etc. OMG!!!

Anyhow, this seems to be more chatter that indicates that they might have figured out one of the big 'glitches', and could get this thing running.

If we have WIFI, which I am hoping we will, due to our Captain's Circle, we should be able to text back home, directly, without having to use one of those messenger services, right. We don't use any of those services. So, that would be nice.

It depends on what kind of text messages you use. On my iPhone, if they are the green text messages, it cost me $.50 to send one of those from the ship while at sea. If they are the blue text messages, then it is no charge for me to use them since I have the Internet. You need to speak with your cell provider for your phone.

  14. If this is truly working completely on the Caribbean Princess at the end of August and on the Regal Princess at the end of November, I will be shocked and amazed. This is what I was told. Do not hold me to it. My medallion is iffy at times for opening our door and I sometimes have to use my card. I will be taking it in for service. I have not tried to use it in the casino and I have not tried to make a purchase with it except in the laundry where it worked perfectly for tokens.

  15. As I said earlier, M201 is not a medallion stateroom unless additional staterooms have been added to the original 110 Medallion rooms. I somehow deleted part of my original message, however and provided bad info on the rest of the Marina deck Medallion staterooms. The correct Marina deck Medallion staterooms are, or at least originally were M203, 206-212, 214-239, 241, & 243. 36 in total. There were another 36 on the Lido deck, 36 on the Baja deck and 2 on the Caribe deck for a total of 110.

    Tom

I understand that you’re saying that M201 on the Regal Princess is not a medallion cabin. I have a picture of the outside of the cabin showing a Meallion screen up and running. I cannot post it here because I do not have an account for Tapatalk.

  16. The person was asking about M201 not M210. Also, M210 is not a medallion stateroom. M209 and M211 are but M210 is not unless they have added additional staterooms after the 110 original ones.

    Tom

Thank you for noticing that. It is M201 that is in *****. I have a picture but I don’t have an account here so I cannot post it here.

  17. We will be on the Regal in Feb in cabin M201 and wondering if we will be in the ***** group. I knw from sailing on her this past feb that they had the ***** in some of the forward cabins and thought we just might have them form for next year. Would appreciate it if some one on there now or lately could answer.

    Thanks in advance

    Molme

M210 is an Ocean Medallion cabin. I just looked and took a photo.

  18. I just spoke to an employee at the Ocean Front location on Regal Princess. Ocean Front is where you go with any problems about Ocean Medallion or if you wish to purchase accessories. He told me that the Caribbean Princess will be running full steam on Ocean Medallion at the end of August. He also told me that the Regal Princess will be running full steam at the end of November. Don’t hold me to this.

  19. Is that Facebook Messenger or the Princess at Sea Messenger?

The one I am talking about here is the trial they had run previously using Facebook Messenger iMessage, WhatsApp and another one I can’t remember. The one that we’ve always used before with Princess called Messenger ID, where you put the Messenger ID number for each person in and send them a message, still works. The problem with the Messenger ID one is that it does not send notifications to people the way the other messenger apps buzz or ring. With the old method, there’s constant checking to see if a message had come in. With the actual apps, it buzzes or rings.

I have been told that the information about these new apps open to everybody on this ship is still on the website. I have not checked.

  20. Mistake, the free messaging does not work if you don’t have Internet. I checked with the Internet cafe and was told it was a trial feature. Very disappointing. Sorry for the wrong info above.

To be clearer, messaging works for those with Internet service. Not for those without.

  21. I am on board the Regal Princess and have been since Monday. The Internet works great. That is however, with minor exceptions. The Wi-Fi does drop off occasionally. When it works, it works great. It works 99% of the time. The messaging system for iMessages, Facebook Messenger and WhatsApp and one other works fine.
