1. We have bought decks of cards from the casino on HAL and on Princess. They are cards that have been used on the ship to play the card games ie blackjack. They use them for so many games, then retire them and sell them. They are cheap, maybe $1 OR $2.

  2. We were on the Royal Princess in April, and I noticed that each morning in the Horizon Court they had a station that was making "smoothies". It looked like you could pick from different fruits and things and have the crew member make it up for you in a blender. I think the sign said they were $5.00 each. I didn't pay close attention as it didn't interest me, but I did see people at that station.

  3. Last November we did this: asked for the latest disembarkation time off the Regal Princess. That was about 10:00 am. Took our time, walking slowly to pick up our luggage and go through customs and immigration. Once outside, we slowly walked to the taxi area and got a cab over to the pier where the Nieuw Amsterdam was. Got out, handed luggage over to the baggage handlers and walked into the cruise terminal. Was easy.

  4. Does anyone know if it will still be free to watch movies/TV? Or a charge for some content but some still free? And if they will still have the free DVDs? What does Princess do--charge or not?

It all sounds great and heaven knows HAL needed the upgrade but if it is going to cost by the movie or show, and no DVDs, that might be annoying. I have friend who just came back from a long Celebrity cruise and she said they charge for movies (maybe there are some free ones). She didn't use that service but loaded a bunch on movies oh her Ipad to watch!

Maybe it's too soon. I hope people will post as this gets rolled out so we know what to expect.

Princess does not charge for movies on your TV. They are free as are episodes of TV shows.

  5. We have sailed both Royal and Regal fairly recently and I'm pretty sure there was no noodle station on either. There was one section of the buffet on the Royal that seemed to have more ethnic type foods and the theme of that seemed to change nightly. I remember seeing different noodle based dishes on various nights, but not a dedicated noodle station.

  6. We have sailed on them both and they are almost identical. The Regal has a tiny aft pool that the Royal doesn't, but we really enjoyed sitting at the aft of the Royal in the covered area. Great place to watch the wake and be out of the sun. Preferred the promenade on the Regal as you can walk behind the life boats, whereas on the Royal you can't - to go front to aft you have to go inside the ship then go back outside again.

But those are minor things and we loved our cruises on both ships and we would not hesitate to go on either again.

  7. The dining for suite only guests is something that prevents us from booking a cruise on Celebrity. We dislike the idea of creating a class system. We feel that no matter what type of cabin we choose to sail in, we should be able to dine in any restaurant we choose. Our money is just as good as that of someone in a suite. HAL, don't start a class system, please.

  8. Daisyloo, did you buy your shoes at a MEC store? I would love to find a pair of supportive shoes to wear in the water. The problem is (other than having artifical knees) is that my one ankle is fused so that I need a specific height difference between the front and back of the shoe. Can't take either a negative heel or where the foot is perfectly flat. I did buy a pair of Croc sandals in Hawaii that are perfect for getting me into a pool and then can be kicked off once I'm in but the beach and wading in the surf remains only a dream.

    Sandy :)

Sorry it took me so long to respond. I just saw your question today. No, I bought my first Keens at a local shoe store in Hamilton, Millers. I bought my second pair online directly from Keen Canada website. They had a sale on certain colours. Then just yesterday I ordered another pair from the website. They are the Newport H2 sandal -totally waterproof, again I picked a colour that was on sale. Free shipping.

  9. We are wondering what is different in the Regal. We were on the Royal its first year and really liked it. So what's been changed or added on the Regal? Thanks

There is a small little pool at the back of the Regal. I can't think of any other difference.

  10. We did the B2B East/West Caribbean last November/December on the NA. We loved it. The ports each week are unique. On board certain things will repeat, like the bigger production show, but other things will be different. The menu will change enough that you will have plenty of new things to try.

We loved it so much we are doing it again this November/December, only this time it will be a B2B2B. Can't wait!

  11. I don't want to place my cruise ship luggage tags on my luggage until after I have already flown to the cruise port city. And, I don't want to take a stapler along just to attach the luggage tags. Neither do I want to have to ask the front desk at the hotel if I can borrow a stapler to fasten my cruise ship luggage tags to my luggage.

So, if you have any good tips for dealing with luggage tags for those of us who my must fly to our cruise port, please share.

Here is a starter suggestion or 2, but please add your ideas and tips...

    * Once you have printed your luggage tags cover them with clear packing tape to strengthen them to assure that the tags are not accidentally ripped off of your luggage during transport to your cabin;

    * How can I attach my luggage tags without using a stapler? How about a safety pin? Or, would you just take some clear Scotch tape along? What do you do?

Do you have other ideas or suggestions? Just as good or better? Please share. Thanks. :D

Your hotel will be more than happy to loan you their stapler, I'm sure. We stay at a Hampton Inn and in the morning they have several staplers sitting on their front desk specifically for cruisers to attach their luggage tags. If you are at a hotel used to dealing with cruisers you should have no problem.

Once we did a 7 day cruise on one ship then a 14 day on another line. that time we took along a roll of tape and used that to tape our luggage tags on. That worked well too.

  12.
I'd rather just not see Princess "carnivalized." Let's just have each line's strengths and not try to emulate another. If anyone prefers Carnival, by all means, stay with Carnival... There are many choices out there...

I'm also willing to bet that most Princess passengers don't want or need a Guy Fieri hamburger. If you want one, it's simple, sail with Carnival.

I also understand that not everyone wants to have a healthy diet on vacation, but many passengers do want it or need it...

As for "adult" comedy... would I go see one? Maybe. I saw one on one of my Carnival cruises and didn't think it was particularly funny...
I hardly think that having a dedicated burger bar will turn Princess into Carnival. HAL has a burger place, the "Dive In" that serves up some very nice burgers. Lots of people love it and I am sure there are others who have no desire to try it. The nice thing is, it's there for people as an option. No one is forcing it upon you. Freedom of choice.
  13. Sorry, I beg to differ... my husband is diabetic, I am pre-diabetic... no way would I wolf down several hamburgers... maybe once every 3 months? I understand that every one is different... and likes different things... When I go on a cruise, I go for the salmon, medallions, etc. Hamburgers, I can find anywhere, anytime...

So you may not want the things the OP suggests, but other's might. It's nice if there are choices so we can all have what we want. You can abstain.
