  1. I keep reading over and over many people say that The Constellation is/has been/always will be their favorite ship. Of coarse this makes me happy because we are sailing on her for the first time in March. I just wanted to hear WHY is that so? Is it just because she is older and has been well traveled by so many and you are just comfortable on her, or is there something really different about her that you like? I would love to hear your answers. Thank you.

  2. We would like a nice hotel that isn't $250 or more! We are just coming in for the night before the cruise. Don't want a run down place, but all the chains I know of are so costly in Fort Lauderdale, double what we normally pay. Anyone have a good $ saving trick there? Don't mind staying an hour or so away if we can save a lot on a nicer place. I just don't know what is around there. There are many hotels I have not heard of but hard to tell from a picture of just the front of the place. Thanks in advance.

  3. We have never eaten dinner at the buffet but may do that on one of the port days this time. May I ask for those of you who have, where do you get your drinks with dinner if you eat at the buffet? Also, a bit off topic, if you order room service for dinner and have the beverage package can you order wine with it and still be included? Thank you.

  4. Also, you can upgrade onboard but the price will be higher

I thought it was the same price to upgrade whether before cruise or while onboard? I was going to wait because my Dh will not upgrade and I will. I have heard that you can not upgrade just one before , only on board. Anyone know for sure?

  5. Besides calling and being put on hold, not to mention bugging the booking agents, HOW does one check cabin availability? I keep reading that folks are "keeping an eye on it" or checking and finding or discovering better cabins. Just how are they doing this? I do not see anywhere to find this out. Thank you in advance.

  6. I'm sorry if this has been asked already but 200 + pages is just to long to read through.

Looking for an inexpensive, CLEAN and safe ( trustworthy) hotel for our family of four to sleep pre cruise that we can leave our car while on cruise and possibly offers transportation to and from port. Thank you in advance! :)

  7. Thank you Thank you EVERYONE! I knew you all would have some great insight! And the pictures were such a BONUS! It is not a $ consideration really. Right now we have the two rooms booked but I talked with X last night and they said they could release the FV to us with 4 so that is when we went into our dilemma. We are traveling with some other folks( in other rooms) and I dreamed of little get togethers on that large balcony while the children slept at night and family time in the mornings out there, the one bathroom didn't really bother us so much as the kids are young and no time in the shower at all. HOWEVER the privacy thing was a concern for DH and I. As much as I love the idea of the big balcony I think we will stick with our original booking of two rooms mainly for the privacy issue. IF that was like I have seen the separate room with bunks for the kids I wouldn't even have to think another second and take the FV but having to tip toe around them would defeat the purpose. Maybe next time we will try the FV, after all this is our FIRST cruise ever that we are treating ourselves to a balcony, so anything will be a special treat! Also first time on X. REALLY looking forward to it! Thanks all!

  8. I am in such a dilemma, I thought you all could help in my decision making. We are a family of 4 with two kids age 9 + 11. Should we do: A- two connecting state rooms with veranda on deck 6 or B-a family veranda on deck 7. This family veranda on Constellation does NOT have a separate bunk bed room for the kids, it is just two pull out couches in separate main area, there is a door that closes but unsure of how private this would be.

With option A we will have 2 bathrooms and a bit more privacy for mom and dad. With option B we will have a HUGE veranda 242 sq ft compared to two sets of 38 sq ft connecting. Plus we save about $350 with option B.

Are there other pros or cons you can all tell me about? What would you do and why? Thank you, I love reading every ones suggestions.

  9. The main dining room is not open for lunch on sail day.

Depending on the ship......Bistro on 5, The Porch, Aqua Spa Café

and yes, the buffet are all available.

Do all of those mentioned above carry extra fee's and are they open to all guests or just aqua class?

  10. We have booked the 5 night cruise you ask about and I am wondering the same thing. We will have a small group with us that can entertain themselves but it's always nice to have some other folks who like to party on board as well. First time on Celeb with us too. I have heard it's a quieter ship, but have also heard that they are trying to attract a younger crowd, so hopefully it will liven up a little! Only time will tell :)
