Seems like Regent underestimated the time it would take to get everyone settled and moved over; doing it right before a holiday weekend probably didn’t help either.  Nonetheless, does not speak well to their off-ship customer service and communications.  Keeping fingers crossed you’ll have better news soon!

We were finally able to access our booking number this afternoon from our TA, a full 2 weeks after our original booking was cancelled.  No other information, however, we can now see that we are indeed booked on our December Explorer cruise.  Relieved and excited to have our cruise to look forward to once more.

I hope you post back on here that everything got sorted out.  We got our revised information this morning - it did have a different reservation number that our original itinerary, but otherwise everything transferred over including excursions already booked and OBC.

Just a brief update that we are STILL waiting.  Nothing from Regent or our TA other than a brief response to my emails asking for patience.

We got our new cabin from our TA; they’ve put us in the same category and we are ok with the location. She received the email last night. Our shore excursions were preserved in two of three stops. They must be redoing the third as no excursions show up on the website. She was told she would receive another email today with the air.

Good to know.  Thanks.  I am aware that many people have received confirmation.  We have not.  And until we do, I feel like we are in limbo - maybe we're booked on a cruise and maybe we're not.  Sure would like to be sure.  We've really been looking forward to this one to celebrate all we've overcome through the past 15 months!

  4. Anyone besides me anxious to see what cabin/category they are being transferred to (December Mariner to Explorer)?  I got really excited this morning when an email from Regent came in but it was just announcing that new bookings are open for itineraries after the transfers.  Still haven't heard a word from my TA who said she would only contact me once Regent had confirmed with her.  Should be interesting with everyone trying to book their shore excursions all at once.

No I'm not asking for money back, I'd just like to book a cruise I want in the suite I want.  It's really hard right now---like management stated demand is high and supply is low.  Regent really needs to take care of current customers, and see they have the cruise they want before booking others.  I choose a cruise I really like, but not love in a suite that I never book because of Regents policy.  So when supply finally catches up and Regent is looking for Regent Cruisers-some maybe switching to other lines.  I've cruise both "O" and Regent for many, many years.  Now I'm looking a Ritz-Carlton Cruises, my TA is looking for the right cruise for us.

Ronrick1943, I hope that you can find some satisfaction.  You obviously feel that you are being treated unfairly and that is never good (not for the business and certainly not for the consumer).  Hopefully, after the dust settles on June 2nd, you will find some clarity and be able to book the cruise you want in the suite you want.  We are all anxious to get back to pre pandemic life, which includes far less stress.  Good luck.

On the bright side though,  we received notice from our TA that Regent is transferring or 10 day Dec 8th Mariner Caribbean booking to an 11 day cruise on the Explorer that will leave on Dec 9. Needless to say we are ecstatic with the upgrade to their newest ship and an extra day at sea. I would think they would have at least offer all the canceled Asia passengers some incentive to re-book on one of the new Explorer itineraries. But in the words of that famous British musician and songwriter: ob-la-di, ob-la-da, life goes on bra!

We were also booked on the Mariner cruise and the transfer is what I understand to be happening although we haven't received actual confirmation from our TA.  My daughter thinks that we will be charged more as it is a longer cruise.  I say that won't happen.  Can you tell me who is right?

With respect to protocols, Regent has updated guidance on masks which are no longer required on voyages outside of the US.

    Are face coverings required?
Our cruises will operate with 100% vaccination of guests and crew, therefore face coverings are not required on voyages that do not depart from or call on U.S. ports.

For voyages departing from or calling on U.S. ports, face coverings are still required when outside of accommodations except when guests are eating or drinking. Face coverings are not required outdoors. We will continue to update our face coverings protocols as we receive further guidance from the CDC.

Not intending to be facetious but would this mean that, as long as I am walking around with a glass of something in my hand, I won't need to wear a mask? I am almost hoping that our December cruise scheduled out of Miami will depart from a non US port.

With each passing day it's easier to just go get the shot than to go to all the trouble of faking a passable vax card.

And yet two passengers flying into Canada were each fined thousands of dollars for fake positive test results yesterday.  People will do what they think they have to do without consideration of others' wellbeing or even consequences.

Final payment on cruises longer than 14 days is 150 days prior to sailing whilst final payment for cruises of 14 days or less is 120 days prior to sailing; they have adjusted those cruises wherein final payment is due in the next few days.

Is this only for September sailings or for all 2021 sailings?  This is the first I am reading about this.  Where would I find confirmation?

Mr. Del Rio's interview yesterday indicated there would be news soon....and the worst think you can do in a business like this is over-promise and under-deliver. Regent may not share their plans as soon as we would like...but at least they made good on all their refunds. I am excited to learn what the future holds as we have the time and the credits...we just need a ship!

I agree, especially with the "over-promise and under-deliver" part. Anxiously awaiting news.

On a bright note, one category just became available on our December Mariner sailing out of Miami.  Also, I have seen it advertized on a TA's website so I am still hopeful we will sail.

  11. Every cruise has been a great cruise, however, the Caribbean one celebrating my in-laws' 50th wedding anniversary with 39 family and friends stands out just a bit.  Hubby and I booked balcony cabin because "who knows if we'll ever do this again".  That was 13 cruises ago!  Not all have been in a balcony cabin but all have been memorable and wonderful.  Really looking forward to getting back to sea.

Within our family we have one booking on Splendor and one on Mariner in December out of Miami.  What we’ve seen is that Splendor has been waitlisted for at least a couple weeks.  Mariner was getting to only a couple categories available, and now is waitlisted as well.  I’m viewing it as genuinely full/waitlisted, and not the ‘waitlisted in preparation for cancelling” - but who knows these days?

We are on a Mariner cruise in December and have noticed the same thing.  Only one category of cabin was available yesterday.  Our cruise, in particular, is being marketed in a number of ways.  Our TA is using it as a "President's cruise" and I have seen advertizing as a specific lecture cruise although I can't recall what type of specialty lecture it was.  I'm really hoping that the cruise isn't going to be cancelled.  Looking forward to cruising is what has kept me sane many days lately.

But then many say the CDC should dictate policy on masks and vax, so private companies should be able to tell the CDC to stuff it also!  But let's go ahead and mandate unproven(and potentially risky)  vaccines.

I don't believe that anyone is mandating a vaccine.  People are free to choose whether or not they take it.  What is being mandated is to be vaccinated prior to stepping on a cruise ship.  Cruising is the choice.

Completely agree.  Are there any estimates as to when more Canadians (at least those over age 60+) will be able to get their vaccines? I checked on CTVNews this morning and it said that about 19.9% of the population (Canada-wide average) has had at least one dose of the vaccine (In the US it is 36.13% and the vast majority are senior citizens).

My understanding is that Canada (like most of Europe) has had difficulties in getting enough vaccines to administer.  In Europe, only the UK is doing "better" (47.42%) than the US at the present time (and of course, they have far fewer people than the US does).  In Australia and New Zealand, only .62% and 1.47% of the population (respectively) have been vaccinated.  It could be many more months before OZ and NZ are "open" for two-way travel to/from those countries.

Yes, Canada's biggest challenge is obtaining enough vaccine.  We currently are receiving a minimum of 1 million doses weekly.  Our prime minister has promised that anyone who wants to be vaccinated, will be by the end of the summer.  We struggle with vaccine hesitancy due to the increasing misinformation out there so herd immunity may be compromised.  All available appointments in my area are booked and there are huge lineups for pop up mobile vaccine clinics in large cities with "hot spot" areas.  My belief and hope is that most will be vaccinated by mid August.

The cruise lines will still have all employees vaccinated.  I will be vaccinated and based on comments most everyone else will be voluntarily vaccinated.  I don’t see the problem.  I will go on the cruise because I have been vaccinated.

You absolutely have the right to do what you think is right.

My thoughts are that if everyone is not required to be vaccinated (I do realize that there will be some who will have forged documentation but my hope is that these will be minimal), should an outbreak occur, one of the possible outcomes is that we will be denied entry into port after port as happened last year.  Another possible outcome is that the cruising industry will be even more damaged than it is today.

  16. It seems to me that DeSantis is accomplishing the opposite of what he is trying to do.  He is trying to bring back business to Florida and yet, signing the death warrant for cruising out of Florida.  Intelligent cruisers will not step foot on a cruise that has not been deemed safe as can be.  Assuring passengers and crew that all have been vaccinated is the safest possible action at this point in time.  I do wish that sanity would return to our crazy world!

Booked on Splendour Feb. 3 22. We will be flying from Vancouver (hopefully), to Miami. I wasn't sure whether to take the air or the credit, but it seems we did not have the option, undoubtedly due to Covid, and coming from Canada.

Checked airfares, and as I suspected, really high. We have aeroplan, and Alaska mileage plan. Aeroplan shows most flights available being overnight or requiring 5+ hours overnight in airports, but not enough time to get a hotel.

Alaska shows a fairly good itinerary-YVR-DFW and DFW- Miami getting us there by 8:15 pm. However, only the first flight is in business/first. At least that is the longer of the two.

Does anyone know if you can upgrade main cabin to premium on an award ticket? I would be fine with the 3 hrs, but DH not so much.

I realize that the likelihood of this flight itinerary being changed over and over is probably very likely, however both aeroplan, and Alaska apparently allowing changes and cancellations without penalty. If this is true, it would seem a very good idea to book something now.

Does anyone have any input or info on Alaska, or AA(which we would be flying on as Alaska,s partner) about these new rules?

We would be spending 3 nights pre cruise in Miami, and 2 post cruise- as I think a good buffer zone is a good idea in this climate.

This will just be our 2nd Regent cruise, and we have Panama Canal for Dec 22 booked as well (at least we will only have the long haul travel one way on that one.

Love to hear any input from any, and all!

I am curious as to why it seemed you didn't have the option to use Regent air.  We are using Regent to fly from Toronto to Miami in December and I don't see the issue you are seeing.

There has always been a magnetic wall in any cabin we have been in.

Thank you.  I am not the most observant person in the world so many things escape my notice until I need to know.  Good to know that my magnetic clips will come in handy again.

  19. I have another question, if I may, as I look forward to our first Regent cruise in December.  We have previously cruised on other lines, especially Celebrity.  I have many magnetic clips that I bring with me in order to keep papers, such as excursion tickets or daily planners, from cluttering the desk.  I place them on the wall where they are easily accessible and not lost.  Are Regent's walls also metal, therefore magnetic?  Are all cruise cabins built that way?
