Cool Cruiser (2/15)

  1. Does the card (or something else) have to be inserted to power the outlets by the bed, desk and AC? I am taking a electric clock that I want to put by the bed and I don't want to have to reset the time every time we walk out of the room. Battery backup does not work.
  2. What do you use to turn on the lights in the cabin? I'm sure I'll get..."the switch" as a reply. Do you use a old credit card, old work ID, folded piece of paper, what? Does the switch control all or just certain things or is it all power in the cabin? Does it turn off outlets on the desk or by the bed? Thanks, XRAY 3 years waiting for this cruise....FINALLY!!
  3. I know this has been discussed many times but I can't find it doing a search. Will they punch a hole in the onboard charge card when boarding so that you can attach it to a lanyard? We have the protective clear holders but prefer the other. Just starting to pack for our Odyssey of the Seas and trying not to pack anything we won't need or use. Thanks, XRAY
  4. We're going on the Odyssey of the Seas soon and this question came up when talking among friends. We've never used self disembarkation before. We self disembarking do you take a escalator at any point? What deck do you disembark from? How early do you leave your cabin? We're on deck 10 this cruise. Where do you normally wait? Thanks, XRAY
  5. CORALC...................At 70+ I'd have to PAY for someone to watch me dance!! We've had more than one cat run away after I sang in the shower. If I did dance I'd be paying the Orthopedic Surgeon big bucks for a new hip. XRAY
  6. What time would you recommend getting to the elevators for self-walkoff? We could use the stairs from Deck 10 but with us being 70+ with back packs, checked bags, and a CPAP stairs may not be the best for us. Our flight is at 10:45. From what I can tell right now there will be 5-6 cruise ships in Port Everglades that morning including our ship the Odyssey. What deck do the self-walkoffs usually wait on for clearance? What deck do you go to enter the terminal and exit to get a cab. Never have done this before which is why I asking for so many details. Tkanks, Xray
  7. We were planning to divide a number of $100 bills between us along with small bills. Staying 3 nights in Ft. Lauderdale along with cab fares, tips, and extra tips onboard may delete our small bill stash. In other words, we don't want a hold-up the TSA line over a large wad of small bills. Thanks to all that have replied. Xray
  8. Is it easy to break large bills into smaller denominations while onboard? We'll probably use almost all of our small denominations pre-cruise. Can we do this in the casino or guest services as needed? Thanks XRAY
  9. capriccio..our flight is at 11:45. We have never had such a early flight from FLL before. Usually we aim for 1:00 or later. This time Delta had other plans after we booked. Not much room for problems leaving FLL to catch a connecting flight from ATL. We may have too find a backpack my Wife can use. Thanks
  10. We are considering doing the self disembarking on the Odyssey to catch a fairly early flight out of FLL. I believe there will be six ships in port that morning. We have never done this before so any tips, do's/don'ts, would be appreciated. We do not have any kind of TSA pre-screening. We are in our early 70's but all in all fairly mobile. We will have 2 checked bags a rolling carryon and a backpack. Our stateroom is on deck 10. How crowded will the elevators be or will there be a long wait to get to the disembarkation deck? Is there a outside bag drop-off at the Delta terminal at FLL? Will there be a lot f people doing the self disembarking? What is the normal security procedure? Thanks, XRAY
  11. We prefer WJ over MDR based on the tablemates we seem to get. Mostly we get the ones we have nothing in common with which leaves no room for conversation and usually lead to politics or social issues. Also, having my wifes undivided attention and vice versa means a lot after 40 years of my working night and her working days. Yes there can be distractions in the WJ but they are brief. In the MDR we have to select foods with ingredients that are greek to us, except for the real basic staples. We have very simple tastes and eat homecooked as much as possible at home. For us buffet is a simple, quick, adequate and pleasant.
  12. I looked at the Delta connections at ATL and the worst case scenario is getting from terminal B to D. Our seats are in the Comfort+ with about 30 seats behind the exit doors. Unfortunately the other flight out leaves at 9:00PM which would mean a 6-7 hour layover which is better than a night in a hotel. Did that once and don't care to repeat. Guess We'll have to leave it up to the flight gods to get us there on time. Still 45 days from disembarking so a lot may change anyway. Thanks for the replies.
  13. What would you say is a adequate layover in Atlanta flying Delta from FLL. to Mississippi? Cruise is 37 days away and I just realized we only had a 1hr. 20 minute layover. We don't fly often and when we do we usually try for a 2 hour layover. This time Delta changed our flight and I thought it said 2 plus hrs. We're 70 years old but still walk fairly fast. This may be the wrong board to as this but I was not sure where which one> Thanks, XRAY
  14. Pacemaker kicked in when my future cruise didn't show. Note to RCCL....Don't do that to a old, fragile, at times senile old man.
  15. Be nice to me when I admit that I thought ship wifi was tied to cell data usage onboard. We have no plans of getting the internet package. Some have said they had trouble at the port accessing the ships WIFI while waiting to board to do the drill. Light..I may just take a small flashlight and place it by my cpap or buy a watch with a lighted dial. Mainly I was looking for plan B alternatives (which I failed to make clear in my original post). Thanks for the help, I appreciate all the replies.
