Thanks @downsmead and @jimzgoldfinch. I find the distribution quite interesting and wonder why some have headed south and others north. Or why some headed to the Firth of Forth as opposed to the River Clyde.

Greenock is the normal cruise port for cruises visiting Glasgow. It would seem that Greenock did not want to host cruise ships.  They were accepted in Glasgow at berths which I don’t think usually has cruise ships.

Thus the Peoples Whisky vs Irish Whisky?

Methinks both have their place (rightfully) in the pantheon of Whiskies and I, personally, would be very hard pressed to say one is better than the other.... except when I Am in the company of one or the other drinker and want to push a few buttons after consuming a few! LOL

Yet, in all seriousness, both regions offer great beverages alike... it is our individual taste buds which dictate the one We think is better or not... 😁

    Cheers and bon voyage

The big question is what is the best whisky? The answer is the one that you enjoy the most.

I am Scottish and enjoy a dram or two. I know what I like and what to avoid. I Drink single malt whiskies, most of what I drink is Scottish but I have enjoyed “Writers Tears” from Ireland and “Glenora” from Canada. I have not tried other countries single malts but I am prepared to be surprised.

One of my favourites is Bunnahabhain 12 yr old from Islay.

I'm looking for a cruise in 2021 and saw one on Equinox leaving 2-7-21. It stays 3 days in New Orleans right before the start of Mardi Gras. I can't decided if this would be a bad time to go because of all the crowds. Has anyone been there at this time of year? I like the ship and the city but don't want to be disappointed because of the timing. Thoughts on this would be appreciated.

The ship will be in port for Fat Tuesday. It will be extremely busy as it will be at the height of the Mardi Gras celebrations.

We were on the 2019 cruise and if you are interested the Mardi Gras then a visit is a must. Being on the ship, you don’t need to worry about expensive accommodation.

If that's the situation, then I would ask the TA to change the pre-cruise hotel to the Fort Lauderdale area and get a cab to the port in the morning.  You can use taxi or Uber to get to the hotel and to the port.  If possible see if they will refund the cost of the shuttle at the beginning of the trip.  I would also double check the flight time on the return to make sure there is enough time to get back to Miami in time for your return flight.

Try not to let these little speed bumps affect your trip.  Enjoy your cruise

We are happy with arrangements made. A bit late in the day anyway!! Arrive tomorrow!

The reason for not having a hotel in Fort Lauderdale was the cost of transfer to our original booked hotel. As mentioned We don’t know what the cost which was inclusive of airfare, hotel and Celeb transfer.

Have spoken to TA who told us that it would be best to go to concourse D.

  6. Thanks for all your responses.

A bit of background. Our flight was originally book to fly to Fort Lauderdale with hotel transfer from airport. The hotel provided a shuttle to cruise terminal.

BA decided to stop flying direct to FLL. (As did Norwegian air). Our only direct flight option was to Mia. We asked our TA to rebook, get a hotel close to Airport and then a transfer to cruise port. Celebrity was not involved with flight or hotel. We werehappy that Celebrity was providing transfer. The hotel is only 8 minutes from hotel.

An overall price which was ok with us, was quoted. When We received Guest booklet, We also noted that  a return transfer from cruise port to Airport was included.

Are Celebrity not organising the hotel for you? Is so they will do the transfers to the hotel and then on to the ship.

The BA flights, from memory arrive at terminal F and Virgin is at terminal G. If you are in Terminal G you are quicker going to Terminal H for Customs.

As mentioned we arrive the day before. Our TA arranged hotel but transfer was arranged with Celebrity

  8. We have not used Celebrity transfers from MIA before. We arrive the day before and stay in an Airport hotel which will transfer us back to Airport.

instructions mention the location of two places where we will be met by a Celebrity rep. The locations are carousel #24 at Lower level concourse D and South bus terminal at lower level concourse J.

For those of you that have used this service, can you let us know the best drop off location. I would suspect that the hotel transfer driver would know the best location.

    Any comments welcome.

Do UK passengers also get extra OBC for booking on board.  I have my eye on a sailing with the extra OBC that is the offer in UK now - so instead of $300 they are offering $500  booking through until march.  If I book on board can I get the UK offer and get additional credit as well.

When we booked our last two cruises on board, we got the current deal offered to U.K. cruisers plus the extra OBC that was part of booking on board deal. Also we paid reduced deposits.

We always request a kettle and tea tray set up and have never had a problem. I don’t know if they meet this request because we cruise suites or come from England and they see it as a cultural necessity!

Probably because your from U.K. !! On our west coast cruise on the Infinity we were asked without prompting if we wanted a kettle.

Although we qualify for this discount, never managed to get it as we booked package online and mostly non alcoholic.

Is discount also valid for non alcohol packages or not ?  Do you need to call the Captains Club or is there a way to apply it when booking online ?

    thanks for tips

When did elite members qualify for discounts on beverage packages. As far as I can tell, elite plus member qualify for 10% discount.

Will we be allowed to take a kettle on board or will it be conficated?

if we are not allowed to take our own is it possible to get a kettle in the room?

You can ask your cabin steward to give you a kettle. We have had kettles on our last two cruises.

On the Infinity (Pacific Coastal from San Diego) last year, our cabin steward asked us if we wanted a kettle . We were supplied with a small number of tea bags, coffee sachets, milk and sugar and cups were replaced each day

We asked for a kettle on the Reflection cruise from FLL earlier this year. We were given one but with no condiments . Not a problem as we had bought our own tea.
