  1. I find the pricing info provided by NCL easy to figure out. I’m looking at this on on the Joy in Sept. Last month my final bill on the Prima was -65 cents. Was able to get really close to what my final out of pocket would be! The newest one I’m considering looks like this… PRICE SUMMARY Total $2,673.60 STATEROOM 2 Guests Balcony $3,676 50% Off All Cruises $1,838 FREE AT SEA Open Bar Selected Specialty Dining Selected Shore Excursions Included WiFi Included +MORE OFFERS 50% Off All Cruises Included 2-For-1 Deposits Included Subtotal $1,838 Gov. Taxes, Fees and Port Expenses $490.80 Open Bar Gratuities $305.20 Specialty Dining Gratuities $39.60 Total Due $2,673.60
  2. I’m safe….my luggage is temu and ebags!
  3. Well, if they’re looking at your address on the luggage tag, they aren’t at your home.
  4. Not trying to dissuade you, but have you compared the total out of pocket compared to the other similar cruise lines, dates and itineraries?
  5. That’s always a choice. Some don’t see the value. They correctly do not take FAS. Personally, I have a Bloody Mary, a couple of beers in the afternoon, a couple of Bourbons one before and one after dinner. and some sort of night cap. I’d easily exceed the $22/day/pp the FAS charges for tips. Plus, it’s significantly less than either Carnival or Royal’s packages! But, if you don’t drink more than 2 drinks per day, don’t do the FAS!
  6. Those are certainly other scenarios. But, I’m a big believer in most likely possibilities when it comes to these sort of situations. Most likely it was taken by someone who thought it was their bag. OP, again where does your location tag say it is located? If, as you say, you want NCL to make you feel better, well, there are other issues at play that no one here is qualified to address!
  7. @Homosassa...I had something similar at the Marseille cruise port. Only, I thought I'd be smart and carry everything in a "sling bag" thinking no one would be so brazen as to try to take it slinged (slanged?) over my shoulder. While that may be true in some areas, reboarding the ship from an excursion, typical line to have items scanned, I had to take off my pack and send it through the X-ray. Of course, sitting it on the belt, the person in front of me would not go through the body scanner, blocking me from going through while my pack did make it through. This was a coordinated effort by two older teens. Fortunately, I kept me eye on the pack and saw a teen grab it and head to the elevators. I yelled loudly that he had my pack. He didn't turn around but tried to head towards the stairs. Security was pretty quick in getting after him and grabbing both of his arms. He claimed the bag was his, until they asked him for ID. His ID did not look anything like my driver's license in the pack. This was on MSC. So, there are thieves out there. STealling random luggage out of the port area is not a likely scenario.
  8. OP...in all seriousness, it is frustrating when your bag(s) get lost or mistaken. I don't know if you're still at the port, but if you are, look at every area where there is luggage, not just your area. I've seen people take luggage, realize it's not theirs and just dropping it wherever, with not thought of putting it back where it's supposed to be. Like in the U.K., where you're from, dealing with local gov't agencies can be frustrating. There are many scenarios how your luggage was mistaken. Could be the person who mistakenly took your luggage doesn't even want to go through the hassle of sending it bak to you. And, they're having the same conversation as you are right now because they want their own luggage. I don't think NCL can help you. They want your luggage even less than whomever has it now. Take the insurance money. Buy some new clothes and/or jewelry to replace what you lost. This is the exact scenario insurance is for.
  9. There are hundreds of bags left in the port area after everyone has disembarked. Did they forget them? Anyway, it's pretty common and I don't think anyone purposely steals another's bag. Personally, I want "my stuff", not someone else's. OP...if you had your Apple /Samsung Tag in your luggage, where did it end up? I'd start there to find it. Someone, somewhere is looking in the luggage..."wait a minute, there aren't my knickers?".
  10. Generally speaking, I use my T-Mobile mobile minutes until we are out of mobile phone range. Then, I use the ship's internet plan. Seems to work better from a speed point...especially with Starlink.
  11. OK...you did all the right things. Again, what do you want NCL to say to you?
  12. I have had it happen twice. Neither time was it "stolen", per se. It was just a mix up where my bag looked like someone else's. It was always returned to me after being tracked down. I always have some form of how to contact me in and/or on my luggage. Plus, I use Apple Tags on my luggage to track where it's at. Very helpful. Compassion for mixed up, lost, stolen luggage? Ummmm...didn't really care nor expect compassion. I just wanted to find my luggage. If it was truly stolen, that's a crime that you need to file with the New Orleans Police Dept. If there was anything of value, you need to file with your insurance company to recover any losses. I don't think NCL has anything to do with the port authority facilities. Your insurance company is trying to make sure you won't "double dip" on any of your claims. That's the reason they are asking if you're getting compensation from somewhere else. Again, few if any people want to steal others' dirty clothing. My guess is someone took your luggage by mistake. If I were you, and you had some form of ID in your luggage, I'd hope someone would contact you to return it. Your cruise is over. You need NCL to do what, exactly? Do you think they know who took it? Do you want a letter from them stating they're sorry it happened?
  13. Nice try! But, knife tale still doesn’t match some of the true stories like upside down pineapples or girl scout cookies! Keep trying!
  14. You need to immediately get your wife to Park West!
  15. As best as I remember, that’s the one. I think her guitar was made of stunning natural wood!
  16. Super nice guy. This was after he retired from the sport. He was genuinely surprised anyone knew who he was. He introduced himself as Ray Mancini. I quizzed “Boom-Boom”? He got a big smile and said “yes”. He had lots of great stories…too many to relay here!
  17. Thanks for your perception. Appreciate your posts. Maybe. Maybe not! It's not like I have only cruised NCL. I've cruised all the others (save for Virgin), too. Believe me...NCL has "PO'd" me more than once. I've even gone so far as to swear I'd never cruise them again after having a "guaranteed" cruise cancelled. I was on the Escape "listing" cruise where we got hit with a blast of wind and was thrown out of bed. I saw the reactions to that cruise here on CC. People were trying to blame NCL for purposely sailing "into the wind", which was ridiculous. I've seen and heard people wanting compensation for the silliest things. I'll assume these same people would demand something from the other cruise lines for the same silly things. Yeah...they've given me some chocolate covered strawberries and some cheap wine/proseco (which holds little value to me). Since you followed the Prima live review, you heard how frustrated I was with their on board response to my slip and fall on a puddle in the Local. Yes, they reached out where they generously and apologetically sincere. I didn't demand, nor want anything from them. They did all that on their own. The discounts offered in the past weren't only offered to me, they were offered to others, too....many of whom post here. Not sure how they decide who gets what. I'm not Ambassador or Diamond. So, I'm not even their best guest. I see this in other cruise line threads, too. It's the incessant complaining. Someone here stated they reached out to NCL with their complaints and NCL didn't respond. Is it because it was nothing more than complaining? Or, did the author state their case in a professional manner? I don't know. What I do know is if you have a legitimate beef, and you let NCL know of your beef while on board, they will bend over backwards to rectify it. Further, sometimes it's not what you say, but how you say it. We've all been at Customer Service only to hear the people next to us become loud an belligerent. Does anyone really think by being out and belligerent that the crew would be more or less willing to help? Same with reading about the Concierge not going over the top to help one poster. They can do a lot, especially if they believe the guest will appreciate their extraordinary efforts. Anyway, I look at other cruise lines. Recently, none of them appeal as much as NCL. If that does not fit someone else's idea of a cruise, I get it. NCL is changing. I personally prefer them changing than to remain stagnant doing the same old same old all the time. That's a recipe for disaster. But, complaining here isn't going to make them bring back someone's favorite broadway show. It's not going to make them stop presenting game shows (which I'm not a fan of, either) because they seem pretty danged popular. I can always find something to do which I enjoy on the ship. Sometimes that "something to do" is little more than sitting outside Cavern Club or Syd's and listen to the band at the outside bar and watch the water go by. Anyway, you caught me in a stream of thought. We all have the wherewithal to cruise. That's amazing in and of itself. Don't ruin it for those of us who enjoy it because you're not allowed to smoke where you want to, or you can't find cookies (or worse, want to sell cookies), can't find hash browns, want unlimited free Lobster Tails....etc, etc, etc. Maybe Royal will allow you to do those things...maybe Carnival...maybe MSC. If so, you know which direction you need to go.
  18. Have not sailed Princess or Virgin. Anxious to try both. But, their fares and/or itineraries have never worked out for me. I keep looking, though! So, I continue with NCL with a glance at Royal, Celebrity and MSC on occasion!
  19. Amen!!!! I don't know if this is unique to NCL or it's just industry wide, people think the ship is all theirs and the other 2K-3K guests on board should kowtow to their whims. Knives (which I still think is rather bogus, given those would be near impossible to get on to the ship), cookies, "miracle" creams, etc....why does anyone think this is a good idea to hawk their wares. Any of that activity should be (and is) prohibited on a cruise ship....any cruise ship. This does remind me of the husband or boyfriend of a lady who wanted to bring her guitar on board so she could entertain people on the Atrium Stage. She didn't want to do it in the Karaoke lounge. It had to be on the Atrium Stage. I hope we dissuaded him and his SO, but from what he said, she would not go on the cruise unless she was allowed to perform in the Atrium. Not on NCL, but I "met" twins in the Celebrity Edge Retreat who claimed to be renowned porn stars (who actually showed some "action movies" of them plying their trade they recorded on their phone). And, it was clear, they thought the ship was an excellent venue for them to pull in some major dollars (and no, I did not go there). Then there was the guy on Ovation of the Seas who insisted on showing me naked pictures of his wife while I was trying to relax in the Diamond Lounge. That said, I also met Ray "Boom-Boom" Mancini on an NCL sailing. We remained friends for a while, but we lost track of each other during COVID. Great guy. Have met a wealth of wonderful people on cruise ships, many of whom post here. None of them tried to sell me cookies, knives or sex.
  20. See....this is why it's hard to take many posters seriously. NCLH is public. Their financial filings are public. The above statement flies in the face of their financials and has no basis in fact. Yes, like all cruise lines, they have a lot of debt. They're working it down, quickly I might add. There is plenty of evidence showing fares to be relatively stable for the last 5 years. I've provided some. Are their outliers? Of course. You can find large fare swings in both directions if you look hard enough. Shop a little and you'll see they MUST stay competitive with the other cruise companies. I don't care if anyone sails NCL. They've changed some itineraries. They've changed some entertainment options. They've changed some dining options (especially on Prima/Viva). They're sailing full, which seems to irk some people. Not sure why. But, as my late great Father used to tell me when I was complaining about something....."if you don't like it, why keep doing it?" If you don't like the food, if you don't like the entertainment, if you don't like the itineraries, if you don't like the ships....stop sailing them. OP...you are right. There are plenty of other itineraries on many other cruise ships, that have offerings which may suit you better. It's your money. Spend it however you want. No one is forcing you to sail any cruise ship or cruise line. Obviously, they aren't responding to your communications, and nothing you post here is going to change that.
  21. Another one of the friends I've made on cruises. We just cruised together and had a wonderful conversation. I'll assure anyone here, both @RocketMan275 and his charing wife are quite literally, Rocket and Munitions Scientists. Both a delight to talk to, also!
  22. Los Lobos...some of the best food on the ship. Onda next and then Food Republic!
  23. I vaguely remember the "floating condos" scheme a while back. Maybe the cruise lines can do the same thing, only offer super cheap fares but you're not allowed on the ship...just have a rope tied to a dinghy behind the ship. No frills! Food would be thrown to the dinghy sort of like chum. Deserts would be stale Girl Scout cookies. 😉
  24. I truly think it’s a matter of time as the cruise lines gobble up private island in the Caribbean they start going the Disney route and offering time shares on those islands! Thinking of changing my user name to “THE ELITEST”!
