Celebrity also do an Iceland cruise I believe. If you need any advice on Iceland let me know as I worked for an Icelandic holiday company for 2 years and have been 6 times
-
I recently stayed in lyndhurst for work and stayed at a b&b called rufus house. Decent size rooms and lovely hosts. Only a max 10 min walk to all the restaurants in town.
-
I am In my late 20's and my chosen line at the moment is celebrity. We like to relax and have a little quiet. On royal Caribbean we found this wasn't as easy also in our view the food is better on celebrity. Princess could be another option for you though.

I haven't travelled solo but even when I have gone to an activity like trivia on my own I have always been 'adopted' by a team and I always do the same for others. Take it as an opportunity to make new friends from all over the world :-)

I second a visit to the museum it's great with exhibitions on the titanic, an aquarium and a submarine

You can easily do the main sights on your own although there is a hoho bus (not frequent departures). Ships dock at least a 25-30 min walk away so a shuttle bus or taxi would be useful.
Most of the main sights are walkable with the only one that is a little further out being the Perlan. Hallgrims church is worth going to visit and if you have time on a clear day the views from the top are good

There should just be rules...
1. Nobody else is allowed in cabin.
2. Don't tell anyone cabin number.
3. If feel like you are being watched or followed go to a public place and ask for help.
If affordable then adjoining cabins would be a compromise

I think some of you are assuming the worst. As previously mentioned in a year she could be leaving to live away at college where she could be in much more danger. At what age does it stop being a risk? Is it like a switch? I know many people in their 20's who are more naive then some teenagers. A woman at any age could be attacked. Considering the number of people on cruises each day the figure of these incidents are pretty low... I bet colleges etc have much higher numbers. At 17 you don't want to share a room, you want privacy etc to get changed... It's not that she wants to sneak out just not to be treated as a child.

Which cruise line? Royal Caribbean will do if adjacent or across the hall. We did this with my partners 16 yr old brother
-
None met the ship when we were there last October. Perhaps they start in the centre of town which is a 15 min walk away
-
I think last year it was 6.30 but not sure...
-
You could get a taxi to Waterloo (15min in okay traffic) or get the train to London bridge and get a taxi from there (7min ish) to Waterloo
-
We usually get a taxi and it costs around 30 euros. We print out the name and address of our hotel to make sure there is no language issues as our Spanish is v minimal. I would get the train if my hotel was near the Sants station though.

On my last celebrity cruise of that length there were 2 formal nights. I think we are also on the same cruise in oct (19th).

I will be sailing on the Regent Seven Seas Navigator.
Then yes you will have a selection of excursions to choose from and drinks are included.
-
What ship would that be on? We're going on p&o ventura later on in the year through p&o. But Thompson cruise also send people on the same cruise. The only difference I can see is that Thompson has a little less baggage allowance. Look into it deeper before you make up your mind.

Thomson have their own ships so Thomson cruises and the cruises available to book with Thomson cruise (travel agent) are completely different.
-
Regent markets it self as all inclusive so soft drinks will be included... Has been a few years since I last sailed with them though. Depends if they sell coke or Pepsi though as to whether you will be happy...
-
I am on this cruise and they are available to book now
-
All details should be on your my celebrity page on the web site.

Great advice about the currency. Thank you we will definitely just stick with the credit card.
Will Strokkur be the geyser we visit? Sounds like it spouts water very frequently so that is good. The description of the visit talks about the geyser field.
Yes it is a field of geothermal activity with some geysers. Yes strokkur is just the famous one that explodes on a regular basis.

In my view the 2 week cruise goes to much more spectacular ports including flam and geiranger

Fantastic to have an Iceland Guru on the boards! We are doing the Golden Circle trip the day before. Am I right in thinking we will need waterproofs for the spray of the Gullfoss Waterfall?
We have lunch included at the Restaurant Geyser. Any idea what that would be and if a drink is included (or tap water available)?. How frequently does the Geyser spurt out water? Are there restrictions about how close to it you can get?
Our last stop is the Þingvellir National Park. I would be very interested to know what the highlights of the park are and what to particularly to look out for.
As we have two trips booked we are not intending to change any currency for Iceland as we have our credit card. Out of interest will places accept euros, dollars or pounds?
1. It would be very useful to take waterproofs for Gulfoss as depending which way the wind is blowing you can get VERY wet!! People are often very shocked how close you can actually get to the falls.
2. I haven't been to the restaurant at Geyser for quite a number of years and back then it was a buffet with fish, meat & vegetable dishes. Not sure about the drink, most visitors don't like to drink the tap water because of the strong smell of sulphur.
3. Strokkur the geyser that erupts frequently does so every 7 - 10minutes. There is a rope around the geyser to show the safety barrier but this is the only restriction.
4.Thingvellir is the site of the first parliament in Iceland and there is a very pretty church etc. In regards to nature it is part of the fissure zone due to it's location on the mid atlantic ridge. There is also a very pretty waterfall that you can walk to depending where the coach drops you off.
5. Icelandics don't often use cash, they pay for a cup of coffee with a credit card. Some attractions / shops will take other currencies (usually $ or euros) but the exchange rate will be poor. I would either exchange a small amount of currency in Iceland or pay for everything on your credit card.
I hope this helps, let me know if you have any further questions.

Also take note which section of lockers you put your clothes in as it can look like a maze and I saw some very confused people just wandering around to try an remember where they had left their items.

I worked for an Icelandic holiday company so on my 6 trips there I went a number Of times. From Reykjavik to blue lagoon is around 50min drive.
I just did the free silica mud and placed it on arms and face.
The ground can be rocky in some places and can get deeper suddenly. In regards to must sees it isn't a massive place, you can walk / swim round it in 10 mins. A lot of people like the 'waterfall' areas but also each area is naturally a different temperature so it may be what feels comfortable.
Any further Iceland questions let me know :-)
Is Westfield stratford City mall a stop on the HO HO?
in British Isles/Western Europe

The one on the map is the Shepherd's Bush Westfield. Why do you want to go to the shopping centre at Stratford?
