  1. "I can live without."

I've read it so many time in this thread.

Does anyone stop to think what the cruise experience would be for new cruisers if they could experience what we did when we first crossed a HAL gangway so many years ago?

The response should be: Enough already.

If the line has grown that you can't provide the same level of service or amenities, time to rethink the plan.

new perspective -- you can't miss what you don't have --we are fairly new cruisers and I think the experience is wonderful -- can't imagine a first time cruiser going home and saying -- sure wish they would have had mats with the day on them.

  2. Just an opinion from someone who has only cruised a few times but loves it.

Everything has gone up in price -- The don't 'push' formal night so why pay to cover chairs for people who might come in casual clothes.

I won't be in a neptune lounge so.... doesn't effect me.

I'm not snooty or picky about what kind of wine or meet I eat, so if its yummy and cooked for me a served to me and cleaned up by someone else - I'm pretty happy.

I love a vacation, travel flexible and don't over expect.

I don't care what day of the week it is so I don't need a mat to tell me.

I want great service - a nice room and pleasant staff.

Like I said -- just my opinion

  3. lots of you live and drink way differently than we do - I've seen the 'drink menu' and most of what I'd be interested in is on that list. A glass of wine at dinner is nice and we drink '3 buck chuck' at home so wouldn't buy the expensive stuff. If my drinks are prepaid I will probably have a few -- if I have to pay at the end of the cruise will have a lot less.

The TA says our price (Alaska 4/14) was not effect by the promo so I'm good with the whole idea --

will be interesting to see what HAL does with this

  4. Will the 6.95 or 5.95 priced drinks meet the 7.00 limit for the Explore4 promotion when you add the 15%?

good question -- I would think gratuity doesn't count but.... I don't know

I do have to wonder what all the complaining about explore 4 drinks is -- everything is under 7 almost
