  1. Any recommendations for a private tour company that can pick us up at port, tour some sites then bring to Central London hotel at end of the day. I use Rome in Limo when in Italy and am looking for a comparable company in London as this will be our first visit.
  2. We are both traveling solo, flights booked but arriving within 30 minutes of each other. Is there a cafe or waiting area in the baggage claim area that I can wait until my friend gets to baggage as I do not want to leave the baggage claim area with out her? I thought there was but cannot find any info to confirm that. Thank you
  3. We are staying at Hotel Smeraldo for two nights post cruise in the main hotel. Now, I am a little concerned. Do hope it was a fluke couple of days as have many other positive reports.
  4. Thinking of doing this tour post cruise as we have 2 days in Rome. It is a four hour food golf cart tour with some sights Anyone ever do this tour? Last time in Rome we did Eating Italy food walking tour in Travestere which was great but want to try something different. Thanks
  5. Thank you for such a detailed response. Much appreciated !
  6. I will be flying solo to Rome. I have never departed from FCO before only have arrived there and have flown out elsewhere. This will be my first trip flying solo and I am a tad anxious about departing from FCO airport. How difficult is it to navigate entry to airport and on to gate. Flying Delta. Just would like to ease my mind a bit. Thank you in advance for any responses.
  7. So glad to hear. I read all the reviews and thought they were all too good to be true. Can’t wait to stay there!! Thank you
  8. Anyone ever stay at Singer Palace Hotel in Rome? Looking for comments. Thinking of splurging for two nights and staying post cruise next year …..
  9. Planning a new cruise for next year and usually use cruise transportation and hotels when cruising from ports within the US. My thoughts for our next cruise out of Rome next June is to book hotel and transportation to port ourselves. Is it difficult navigating arrival with luggage to the port terminal to the ship? Need to decide what to do as am traveling with extended family and want to make it as easy as possible for them but I am spoiled from our trips to Rome and staying at the boutique type hotels near Piazza Navona. The cruise hotels, although beautiful, are never in a convenient location. Just would love to hear people’s thoughts on embarkation day from Civitavecchia and what you all do. Thanks
  10. Flying in on Delta, leaving June 3 scheduled to arrive at FCO June 4 at 10:20am. Anyone with Italy airport strike experience…. how does this affect flights? Are all flights cancelled, delayed or is it certain airlines? Looked at switching days but flights totally booked days before and after as a busy travel season. Just trying to sort this information out in my head. My total excitement now has turned into some anxiety!
  11. If you had to pick a restaurant for your first day arrival in Rome, basically for appetizers and pizza, which would it be: Da Francesca Trattoria Polese Emma Pizza Balestrari Campo d’Fiori All are close by to our hotel and all seem to have received positive reviews so just need to pick one so I can make a reservation. Thanks
  12. I thank this post for all the great dining recommendations for Rome. All reservations made pending one. Still need some recommendations for Florence so please recommend!! Thanks
  13. We specifically would like to go to Murano and Burano while in Venice. Looking for recommendations for a good tour company for that. Thank you
  14. We are staying at the Hotel Damaso in June for all of the reasons cruisemom42 has mentioned. I booked directly with the hotel and have e-mailed them a few times with questions and they have been just wonderful. They were accommodating with questions I had about the rooms and booked the junior suite. We do look forward to staying there.
  15. We are using Rome in limo for three days prior to our cruise just for a party of two. We have a six, 10 and 12 hour day tours. Two days we are paying additional for a tour guide. What is the standard amount/percent to tip the Rome in limo driver each day? Thank you
  16. When I had to cancel last year for June 2022, I reached out to hotel by email and asked when I could rebook. It was March 2022 and they allowed me to book at that time for June 2023. Was easy to work with them on the types of rooms as I wanted a junior suite and was able to book them. I went with Hotel Damaso, which is their sister hotel with same owners, from what I understand, so hopefully they will let you book early.
  17. We are spending 5 days in Rome prior to our cruise . I have booked two day trips from Rome. One to Pompeii and Sorrento and the other day from Rome to Siena and SanGimignano. Areas we will not get to on this trip and will love to see as will probably not be back to Italy. My question is for those that have used Rome in Limo, or have been before, I know it’s long days with long drives so is it too much or doable? I have heard fantastic things about this company and are using them for other tours in Rome as well during our time in Rome but just want to make sure we are not stretching ourselves with two long days. Thank you in advance for all your opinions.
  18. Looking for recommendations for a evening food tour in Rome. I keep hearing that we should do one but would love to get recommendations. Thank you
