  1. I agree Bob, it is almost funny how bad it is right now.

I was on the phone for over 50 minutes this morning making a change to a different sailing - same ship and ports. It took that long for them to correct the port fees and taxes so that the total amount matched the total amount on the website.

I was told that they have adopted a new procedure for dealing with discrepancies in the fees and they would no longer make adjustments to bookings - but would apply OBC once on board if I overpaid. I wasn't having any of that......

  2. Here is the link for Choice Air (Air2Sea) http://www.espresso.cruisingpower.com/choiceair/protected/home.do

Fill in the information required and it will bring up flights available through Air2Sea. You can do a comparison of prices by flight numbers by going directly to any of the airlines websites. Once purchased you will get a Record Locator number where you can go and select your seats.

The only draw back is that payment is due at the time of purchase and if there is a price drop, you won't be able to take advantage of that.

When we book through Air2Sea we always purchase 3rd party insurance, usually through Allianz.

I thought Cruising Power was for TA's? I do not see a standard search feature without signing in.

My cruise is too far out to see flights anyway and I always purchase 3rd party insurance. No matter though because unless I could make changes to take advantage of better flights or pricing - I doubt I will use Air2Sea.

  3. Air2Sea is very confusing to me. I booked a OW ticket home from BCN in May. Air2Sea changed my flight which then had two different carriers (original itinerary was with the same carrier). I can't get seat assignments until day of check-in for the first leg on British Airways. Air2Sea uses Amadeus for air and their online app is not kept up to date. The second leg home is not showing the correct seat assignments although I have been assured the seats requested are the seats I want. I have no way to set an alert for the flights.

This is discouraging. I was planning to use Air2Sea for my RT flights to Barcelona next year.

My only experience with cruise line air has been on Princess. You pick your flights (from a list of options) and your seats, and you're all done until final payment. Can even make changes if price drops come along.....until 45 days before departure.

Guess I better start monitoring airfare so I can purchase independently :(

  4. Booked my first cruise on a "Luxury Line":D.....normally this would never have been possible but circumstances have

given me this chance and I am taking it:D.....going on Silverseas in August from Barcelona to Rome.....itinerary is

around Spain and Italy. Now I just have to get through the summer:eek:.....LOL........should be interesting and fun:)

Lois, I thought your river cruise was "luxury"! Sounds wonderful and I can't wait to hear about your journey :D

  5. I wouldn't even consider the Vatican and the Colosseum without skip the line tickets. Then you still have 2 additional days to see the rest of the city independently. Trevi, Spanish Steps, Pantheon, and other monuments are easy to do on your own....

Are you sure that you have checked all of the tour options? Dark Rome and Walks of Italy are 2 that I have used. Others are Context, Overome , Once in Rome. Angel Tours and Whatalife. If you "google" Vatican Tours you will find many options. The Vatican also sells a guided tour option that will help you avoid the long lines.

Also, I have used http://www.tickitaly.com/ when booking the Colosseum underground tour which is also available as a skip the line.

Some companies will list tour space and issue tickets to you once they become available. At least this way you are guaranteed a quick entrance so I highly recommend booking a tour.

    Enjoy Rome!

  6. I'm also on the 7th October 2018 sailing.

Unfortunately, I switched to the September 16 sailing just yesterday.....

I have sailed the eastern Med in mid October and even though we had nice temps we also had a bit more rain that I would have liked. No guarantees of course but going by the average temps and rainfall totals I decided to go in September instead.

Sorry that we will miss each other!

  7. When are you sailing?

We've been sailing Harmony for the past 2 weeks and drove back to Palm Harbor this afternoon. It really is a beautiful day here!

October 7, 2018 to the western Med.

I have been wanting to get back again and I was able to book a studio cabin at an really great price. Lower than my last Alaska trip and the airfare won't be much more either. Not to mention that I can get to Barcelona almost as quickly as Anchorage..... So off I go :D

How did you like the Harmony?

  8. From my experience with pricing studio cabins - they are always significantly cheaper (at least initially). Later the inside cabins may be reduced enough to make upgrading worth while though and I will definitely monitor pricing.....

For the Symphony my inside studio is $500 less than a regular inside and I don't care about points either. I like the value and I can put the savings towards my RT airfare (which is usually around $700 to Barcelona through the cruise line) :D

  9. Several hotels in Barcelona have been recommended on this and other calls. But no reference to H10 Plaza Catalunya. Why not? It is so central and has good TripAdviser reviews. Booked here for three nights prior to Quest in April. Have I done right?

This hotel was also on my list and the only reason I didn't mention it is because like Lois mentioned - I tend to pick my hotel based on other CC members and because I get to know what they like.

You should enjoy your stay :)

  10. Good morning:)....I booked Hotel Pulitzer for my upcoming stay in Barcelona:D...the reviews are excellent/looks lovely and the price was right.

Lois, be sure and post about the hotel when you get back. It looks really nice and you can't beat the location.

I was considering the Hotel Jazz for the next trip based on CC member reviews. But may to have to the Hotel Pulitzer instead.

  11. Oh...WOW....I just googled that Market:D:):D..........this is my kind of stop.....and would be something I would love

to see so that would be awesome for my arrival day. I wonder if I can walk there from my hotel.

Lois, you will love the market and it is an easy walk from where you are staying.

We stayed at the Colon in the Gothic Quarter and that is a nice area to spend time in too. Enjoy your trip! I don't get to go until 2018.....:(
