  1. My question was why all the Vision sails post August had disappeared as I was hoping to go to Dubai in Winter 2017-18. I really hope that both Legend and Vision don't transferr to other lines but I was told by a waiter on Serenade last October that Vision was the next on the list to go to Pullmantur.

We have such a short cruise window here in Europe i hope that we don't lose any further sailings in 2017.

Has there been any update on the Vision sailings? The September/October 2017 are still listed as sold out:confused:

  2. I bought a Lug Puddle Jumper from QVC and I love it! It is the best carryon I have ever owned. It doesn't have wheels but it has the strap to attach it to my roller bag.

It has fit under all of the seats on planes so far but I mostly fly Delta. I will be watching for the TSV in case it is something that I want to add :)

  3. I had an unbelievable experience at the adult pool on Regal. I like to take a dip in the pool and just need a place to dry off after- so that I'm not dripping through the ship.

So my two friends and I went to the adult pool and were able to find two loungers. I said- you take the chairs and when I get out of the pool if no one is sitting next to you- I'll dry off there. Well- the chairs were "taken" next to them- but no one had been there on my arrival and no one was there now- 30 minutes later. So I sat on the lounger. No sooner did I sit down when two older ladies came over and stared at me. I said to the more menacing one "Is this your chair" and she said it was- so I scooted over to the end of my friend's lounger. She put another towel down on "her chair" and promptly walked away with her friend. The woman never came back in the next 30 minutes and was not in the pool. So when I got up- I took the two towels she had left on "her chair" and put them in the bin. The nerve of some people- you don't own the chair for the day. Sit your butt in it or get in the pool. Otherwise- it's up for grabs as far as I'm concerned.

Great job! I have cleared many chairs in my days up on deck. Don't sit up there much anymore since I no longer cruise the Caribbean. Not really an issue in Alaska or the Med but I won't hesitate to do it again ;)

  4. I've been looking at going back to Europe for a couple of years and the air has been hovering around $1,200 or more. :( A couple of weeks ago I found RT air from Cincinnati with only one connection,(within the US and NS flights to Copenhagen), for $860. What a deal!!!! That plus I was able to get a great price on the cabin I wanted along with free gratuities that RCI was offering, made me jump. Oh, and my favorite hotel in Copenhagen was available with my Marriott points. It's going to be a great trip!

Enjoy! It is so nice to have a great deal come to you :)

I booked airfare for my last Med trip (October 2015) in May and the price was $736 RT from Tampa to Rome with one stop each way in Phily. American and US Air were merging their websites and I think I caught a "glitch". The 9 night cruise on the Serenade was only $754 pp including all (booked on New Years Day on the Con website) so that trip turned out to be my great deal :D

  5. Well hello to you also!

We love the Radiance, plus all of her three sisters also. Not too big, not too small, lots

of windows. We think they are the "elegant" series of the fleet. :)

I like the Radiance class ships too!

Loved the Serenade in the Med and my cruises on the Briliance and Jewel in the Caribbean were also very nice :D

  6. Our RCL Radiance cruise in the exact same cabin and the exact same time of the year

as last time, is twice the price we paid for it previously. Alaska is really getting

    expensive, but still highly popular.

Agree, it may be easier to travel to a U.S. destination with that dramatic

scenery versus what is going on with international travel now. I like being able

to use my cell phone (plus the internet it offers) as a local call also. :)

Hi Island Lady! I think I will be skipping Alaska this year but just booked the 9 night NB cruise on the Radiance for May 2017. A great itinerary and the price is reasonable - plus I can book my FF flights as soon as they open.

I haven't sailed RCI in Alaska but the Radiance sure gets good reviews :)

  7. I just got back from Barcelona on Friday and there were multiple rock bottom cabins available on cruises coming up. I got there on a $301 fare- total+ daily service, ($250 savings with 2 cruise deposits on NCL) on the NCL Spirit- 14 days. It seems, they lost money with me.

I may take a look again in August with picking up some late booked Barcelona cruises as I do very much enjoy the Med.

It is amazing isn't it? The prices for some of the cruises are so low! I also love the Med but hope to find a deal for Alaska eventually :)

If only I had more vacation time and frequent flyer miles!

  8. I booked my August 2015 cruise in May last year at a very low price.

Not seeing the same deals this year - at least not yet. Wondering if Alaska is booking better this year and people are opting for this destination over Europe?

  9. we are on the Pearl tied up at new dock. Will post photos Sunday evening. Gorgeous sunny day so going ashore to explore. We've seen whales from balcony and now from Spinnaker Lounge.

Glacier Bay was spectacular yesterday. We saw more of it than on previous cruises because Pearl had extended hours there. It was sunny and cold.

Webcam says it is 49 degrees there

    Have a great time ashore!

  10. in June I am planning to stay at a hotel near Piazza Navona for several days -- I got a good personal recommendation from a friend: Hotel Navona. It's more basic than the Albergo Cesari, but pricing in June is not bad, and I like trying different hotels.... :D

Please come back and let us know how you liked Hotel Navona.

I am planning to stay at the Albergo Cesari again next year but as you say it is nice to try different hotels and I will be checking the Albergo Senato too they were sold out last time.....

  11. Yes good advise about visiting your roll call and doing a tour with others on the same ship. Someone may have a private tour booked already and you can join them.

Or there are tour operators that have shared tours. They allow you to book into a group and the per person price would be better than trying to do it on your own. Try Rome In Limo and Italy Tour Sharing.

  12. We are staying at the Albergo Cesari this summer for 4 nights. Looking forward to it. Chose it because of the great reviews that I found, the location, and the price. We booked it last fall and the price was <100E per night.

I enjoyed a 2 night stay last year and the location couldn't be better. Nice clean room, great service and a wonderful breakfast on the terrace :D

    Enjoy Rome!

  13. I just checked out the Piraeus Express Bus website and it looks good and there are very good reviews on TripAdvisor :)

Do you know if the price includes entrance to the Acropolis and Parthenon? We bought our Athens City Pass there last time and it covered entrance to the sites in town that we would be visiting. I think it was 12 euros per person.

The price for this tour is low so I'm guessing that you pay upon arrival at each site? If so, those prices need to be added to the price of the tour.

This looks like a nice option for our day in Athens next year but not sure about the total price?

  14. I booked a private group tour for 14 of us from the ship through Private Greece Tours. It wasn't $35 each but it was well worth the price. I know others that have used PK Travel and had a great tour too.

You may want to check out TripAdvisor - these companies are rated #1 and #3and you can read some reviews to help you make a choice. Post to your roll call thread and get others to join you to make it more reasonable :)

  15. Wine reviews) some of the best producers on the island are : Argyros, D. kourtakis, Domaine Sigalas, Gaia, Gavakas, H. Halzidakis and Koutsyiannopoulis.

Taking notes for my next visit since I want to try some additional wines. Thanks!

  16. First of all from what I can tell many of the ship tours go to Santo. You should know that Santo is a large cooperative and they are overrun by group tours. If you just want to say you have tasted Greek wine and want to enjoy the nice view by all means go there.

Just want to share my experience....for those who haven't been.

We were there as part of the private tour that included Oia, Akrotiri, and a stop at Santo before returning to Thira. It was mid October 2014 so the time of year probably makes a lot of difference. We were on the Serenade of the Seas and there was one other ship in port with us.

Our small group of 14 stayed about 2 hours. There were others (maybe locals) that came and went in the store but we sat on the covered deck almost by ourselves. I also walked all around the grounds taking pictures of the ship in the harbor and the lovely scenery - never passing anyone.

I wouldn't eliminate Santo Winery as an option. We thoroughly enjoyed our time there. Great views - great wine tasting - great time :D

  17. A few that did wineries did wineries in Santorini had nothing great to say. Those that did them in Crete including us really enjoyed them

Sent from my iPhone using Forums mobile app

Just have to say that we were on a island tour that included Oia and Akrotiri with a stop at Santo Winery. Great views and great wine.....

  18. I guess they didn't expect the storm to be so bad or they would have stayed in Barcelona overnight and left the next day.....

I have only had smooth seas in the Med and it must have been very frightening for those on board :(

Weather hasn't been good to RCI this year!
