  1. Thanks, I don't know how big the terminal is and if the driver that will pick us up need detailed information where to pick us up. Or if it's just one place outside the terminal? It's not a driver from the nearby area so it's possible that he hasn't the "inside" information needed... :)

  2. Hi everyone!

I havn't been able to find any information about what pier we will be at in Laem Chabang cruise terminal (Bangkok)and wonder if someone knows anything.

We are going to visit some friends and they need to know where to pick us up.

There are no information of ANY arrivals of Millennium at the official port site from this date to February 2017?

Thanks in advance for any information!

  3. We're looking at a possible Celebrity cruise next year. Have never sailed with them before (3 P&O, 1 RCCI). The drinks package deals they are offering look very attractive, but if I take up a classic alcoholic package, do I still have to pay the 18% gratuity, or is that included in the price?

    Thank you

The price on Celebrity web site do nót include gratitude, that will be added when you pay (no difference if you pay in advance or onboard). No extra gratitude will be added when you order something that is included in the package. :)

  4. Not taking cost into consideration which one do you prefer? Based on cost I would expect more people to answer AZ. I am not asking which is the best value.

Which main dining room food do you prefer?

    Which buffet do you prefer?

We have been on about a dozen X cruises, and we are considering Azamara.

Personally I prefer X in both cases! Azamara was a very nice experience but the food was quite a disappointment to us. Maybe our expectations where to high?

But it's difficult to advice, because of personal preferences/expectations combined with the quality of the head chief....

  5. Better yet, as a solo traveler, I pay for both halves of the room, which means I pay for double the embedded perks. So I get one Classic beverage package, and yet pay for two.

Makes no sense, but it is what it is.

It would be a nice gesture if a solo guest would recieve one extra "perk" on top when they pay double fare. But I don't think it would be an extra drink package...:D

And I assume (if the gratitude isn't one of the "perks") that a solo cruiser doesn't have to pay gratitude for the non existing guest?

  6. That is definitely true in Japan.

No tipping is the rule in Australia. I thought that this was the rule in Denmark and failed to tip an excellent tour guide. He seemed a bit surprised we didn't tip. Later, I learned the no tip in Denmark is not the case.

Tipping isn't expected there but they won't get offended. I suppose he had gotten used to Americans that always tip...

  7. To Bo1953 and Sollan,

The OP started this thread while cruising last December, and their issues were resolved.

I resurrected this thread yesterday (see post 60) because there still is confusion whether RS and PH passengers have complimentary access to Bistro/Sushi on 5. Someone on another thread who was on Millie last month (May) in a RS or PH was told this venue was not included in their RS/PH amenities.

    Arggh, I didn't see that....:o

Can it be so difficult for X to sort this out?

  8. The tour is 3 days, so using your guidelines $60 is right. My question is, train tickets are part of the price, so are 3 lunches and admissions, what part of the tour is the tour price.

The tour is $650 a person, we are two people.

Try these to get an idea of the train cost, not sure if they are updated...

  9. Despite the markup by Celebrity for shore excursions the guide and driver are usually paid very little. It is cheap bordering on insulting not offer a tip to both. We tip $10 PP for a full day tour and $5 PP for a half-day tour to the guide and half that to the driver. The difference between Celebrity's tour pricing and the that offered by local tour firms goes to Celebrity, not the guide or driver.

Please consider how hard these folks work to support their families.

Totally depends on where you are! Believe it or not - but there are countries where people doesn't depend on tips to survive and don't expect it.... ;) And don't feel bad about not tipping in these places! Of course you can leave some extra if you think the work done was something extraordinary. But otherwise? No....

  10. Yet, another case of where someone uses posts from CC to make a case for what is thought to be a 'perk' when in fact a call with a request for a follow up email from X would be the over-ridding way to go.

    bon voyage

Are you absolutely sure that the requested email will be show up while OP is still on the cruise?

  11. The reason I ask is that I saw that Celebrity had done reservations ***** my credit card during the cruise. For what I'm told now they might do reservations and that the information regarding that shows when you do the online check in.

And I can't remember ever seeing this...! The online check in is done on the .com site and if it would be any difference between different cardholders I suppose that the information would be clear? The rest of the information regarding my foreign card is clearly presented.

Are there anyone that have seen this information? Can't find it on .com site either...

  12. I'm SO confused... I can't remember where in the online check in procedure you can read the information about how Celebrity handles the card transactions during the cruise ? Is there a button or what is it I haven't seen?

Can't remember that I have been asked to read some "Important information" about this either where I agree to the rules....

Or am I t-o-t-a-l-l-y lost?

  13. Yes, we are always so far behind the Europeans when it comes to some technology. :( I remember when I got my British Airways Chase chip & PIN credit card about 5 yrs. ago and everyone thought it was really bizarre in the US. We ran into a few machines last August in Europe that wanted the PIN but not as many as we expected.

As a live in Europe I'm very courious where you where able to do this and what card issuer you had?

At least in Scandinavian countries and in France (probably most Europeean countries) you can't do this even if your card issuer says you don't need a PIN. In these countries the ATM would just say "Invalid card"....

  14. Who cares what the launch fares are? [unless you live outside North America, which only one poster on this thread indicates.] Book early and grab your favorite cabin, then ride the prices down and get your TA to get you the lower fare every time. If Celebrity manages to sell enough cabins that they don't need to cut fares -- either accept the deal you had or cancel before final payment. Why shouldn't Celebrity try for the best return they can get, and only bow to soft demand when necessary?

Some do actually care.... Cancelling rules and fees are not the same for all of us. Made a comparision between a TA leaving 2017 and the one we made last year - booking more than one year in advance. The price had gone up 30%... And with these kind of prices without any perks added the Celebrity TA's are not interesting anymore.

I realize that the included perks on other cruises are one reason for higher prices but there are no such things on a TA.

Don't understand how X think it's better if people book on a higher price if they don't actually pay anyway?

But I will keep an eye on RCCL and HAL

  15. Lets hope that there are no problems with your booking!

The major problem with Celebrity (and some other cruiselines) is the fact that a cruise is disappearing from the web site if it's sold out or prebooked (?)by larger groups. That raises a lot of concerns for guests with existing bookings - is it chartered or just fully booked?

And a cruise that doesn't show isn't to been seen for someone that might be interested of it... No reason to get back and check if you don't now that it exist.

Can't understand why they don't list the cruise as "sold out" - with additional info to get back and check status now and then. Should be as easy as taking it away completly....
