  1. Thanks for the suggestions. I am not a fan of the short cruise, especially THIS short, however this cruise was simply a way to get the whole family in one place to celebrate my wife's 60th birthday. The kids couldn't be away for 7 days and this was the only cruise sailing on the correct day. Was thinking the ship might be quiet and we could be all together on board and still have a beach day the last day on the private island. Really appreciate comments from those of you who have cruised Disney short cruises before!!!

  2. First Disney cruise AND first short cruise! We will be a party of 10 including a 5, 4, 3 and 2 year-old. Since the cruise is so short and most of our party have never even been on a ship I'm wondering if we should stay on the ship in the Bahamas and let the kids enjoy and explore it and have a beach day at the private island. Any thoughts?

  3. That is correct, I have been looking for Eclipse or Equinox to Venice next year And nothing doing, constellation is going there though

For what it is worth I would not miss Venice, Florence is lovely but the with Naples you get the beauty of the Almalfi and the history if you wish to visit pompei or Herculaneum

Well now I am really upset!!! The Equinox itinerary DOESN'T go to Venice now. I swear when I looked a few weeks ago it did...I KNOW IT DID!!!

  4. Help, going crazy trying to decide between two different itineraries. What if I never get to return...

We are booked on the Refection eastern Med 8/21/15 out of Rome. We have been to Rome but none of the other ports. I have just found another eastern Med on the the Equinox that is out of Barcelona on 8/26/15 if we take it we gain Venice Nice Amalfi coast an Florence but lose Mykonos, Sicily and Naples. My brain HURTS from flip flopping back and forth...

Mykonos has always been top on my list but then so has Venice

Any advice would be sooo helpful!!!

  5. We are looking at a river cruise late August 2015. Trying to decide between the Rhine from Basel to Amsterdam vs the Seine. Charlie wants the Normandy Beaches so I am thinking that it is #1 HOWEVER it is a birthday cruise for me so in the end I get to decide :D Our TA has recommended Avalon over Viking. It looks to me as if Avalon ships are newer which is very important to us. I am having difficulty locating any cruise reviews…any help? Any thoughts??

  6. No limes on the 3/22 Connie sailing. When I arrived home and went to the supermarket, limes were $1 each. Now I understand. Let's not over-react. The missing limes had no ill effects on our cruise. Plenty of other citrus to ward off scurvy. Try a half grapefruit at breakfast.

You're right! Oh, why didn't I think of that...grapefruit in my margarita, YUMMY!

  7. So sorry to ask a tipping question but I must admit after searching for the answer I am still confused  The information that I have found has told me that the pre paid gratuities and ship's card charged gratuities has done away with the "awkward" envelope night. So does this mean that if we don't do pre paid gratuities our account will just be charged and that will take care of our tips. It has been years since we have had anything other than select and we spend most of our evenings in specialty dining...are the envelopes a thing of the past?

  8. Neither limes nor any other food time appear on the list of prohibited items to take on board. As has been noted on many other threads, it is ill advised to try to smuggle any food items OFF the ship at any of the ports due to food import restrictions in those ports.

    So that settles it...

I will bring my own :-)

  9. If there are no limes you should ask for a refund. And 50% off a future sailing. And an onboard credit. And a personal apology on lime green stationery.

    I agree!!!

  10. All I can say is come on Celebrity PLEASE bite the bullet for me and buy the expensive limes. Caribbean vacation with no limes is no bueno! How about a lime surcharge

  11. Psssttt... Tell him I figured out the secret to a tie a LONG time ago! If your shirts are too tight in the neck, then a tie is very uncomfortable. If your shirts are the correct neck size (have to tell myself, be honest - TRUE measurement, not what I think it SHOULD be!) then a tie is not uncomfortable in the least! Its not the tie, its buttoning that top button if the neck is too tight! If he can't slip a couple fingers between the collar and his neck after its buttoned, its too small! Maybe you just need to buy him a new dress shirt! :)

IMHO, a sport coat without a tie is fine, a suit without a tie just looks dorky!

Hahaha, I think you hit the nail on the head! He has been saying that gravity is making his neck disappear into his shoulders :D

  12. We leave in just over two weeks and I have been in negotiations with my husband over the formal night attire. On all of our previous cruises he has always worn a dark suit and tie but suddenly he is saying, "NO MORE!" He is not a fan of suits or tuxes on vacation. In his opinion a tie is kin to a straight jacket and doesn't belong on vacation  As of right now he has agreed to the suit sans tie... I will pack the tie in hopes that with a cocktail or two in him I can persuade him to put it on :D

  13. this thread is AMAZING! I have spent hours reading it and based on the information here I just spent $100 extra $$ on the second half of our B2B on the Silhouette to switch from cabin 1598 to cabin 1650 to avoid pool noise and (I hope) less of a overhang. I really hope that I did the right thing  The overhang bothers me as I love the sun but 1650 was the best I could do. I never could find cabin 1249 our cabin for our first leg. Any reassurance out there :o

  14. I am hoping someone might answer for me. We had planned to use luggage valet and self disembark since our flight is earlier than recommended (10am). We have since been advised that we probably will not be able to use luggage valet because of the early flight. I am a terrible over packer so my poor husband is used to lugging heavy luggage BUT I fear unless we self disembark we may miss the flight

  15. Forgive me for asking a question that I am sure has been asked before but searching here and on Celebrity has not given me my answer. I know that gratuities are $12.50 pp on CC but can someone tell me how that is divided up among stewards and wait staff. We would like to add something extra for good service but we don't know what to base this on.
