  1. That’s interesting. We were always offered Champagne in the Atlas Bar. Nicholas Feuillatte and Moët & Chandon.
  2. And when the piano player appears for his/her several sets per evening, that’s the end of conversation. I like The Den, but piano players are not really my thing. If I want music, I’ll go hear the band in The Living Room, where conversation is also impossible.
  3. That would be a shame, since The Den can’t provide what I love best about the The Atlas Bar - a venue where I don’t have to shout at my drinking companions, since there is no loud, live music or noisy disco.
  4. Very much yes to this! We always make a contribution to the Crew Fund. It is a nice thing to do for everyone who makes your cruise a great experience.
  5. Thank you, it’s nice to know that my memory didn’t let me down. 😁 I think you’re right that different cruises often have different serving hours. I know that we took a few last year where the Patio Grill was not open for dinner, which made me sad. I love the steaks there.
  6. I may be mistaken, but I think I’ve eaten more than one very late lunch at the Patio Grill, at 3.30 or 4 pm. Maybe someone on board has a daily sheet with food hours?
  7. We’ve found that the MDR is open for lunch on sea days, as well as the Windows Café and the Patio Grill. On port days it’s the Windows Café and the Patio Grill. The Patio Grill is open until late afternoon, so if you come back late from a port visit, you can still get something nice to eat. There are also light sandwiches in the Mosaic Café and the Living Room in the afternoon.
  8. There is room under the sink for at least one good-sized toiletries bag. Maybe your cabin mate can keep a lot of their stuff there?
  9. I’ve never tried a hanging shoe holder. I do remember that there are two pegs on the back of the bathroom door, fairly high up, for hanging up used bath towels. They might interfere with hanging your shoe holder, or perhaps you could hang the shoe holder from the pegs. We’ve been in a regular Verandah cabin for long periods, and been ok with the existing shelves. I keep seldom-used things like cold remedies or indigestion tablets in my carry-on, stored under the bed, which leaves the shelves clear for toothbrush, toothpaste and deodorant.
  10. No, but here are shelves above the toilet (4, I think) , and a shelf under the sink, with a sliding door.
  11. Yes, I see what you mean. I shouldn’t have quoted you, since yours is a more specific question.
  12. One thing we already know: Chioggia is a charming place on its own merit, like Ravenna. It’s a great place to eat seafood, and worth a day or part of a day as a destination in itself. If my cruise finished there, I’d plan to see Chioggia and then if possible spend a few days in Venice in a hotel. The trip back and forth will eat up a useful part of your day.
  13. There’s no app yet. Three of the ships have your account and the menu on the tv, I think. Onward definitely had our account. I believe Pursuit does not, though.
  14. And even better, you can order them with a scoop of vanilla ice cream. Make a hole in the top of the soufflé, drop in the ice cream, then top with a bit of the warm sauce that goes with the soufflé. Decadent and delicious!

Oooh, I’m envious! Have a great cruise.

I can confirm that this 'trick' also worked in my case. I had booked my first Azamara cruise, then canceled it and from that moment on my points and tier would not show up anymore on Azamara, Celebrity and RCI. Deleting the loyalty number on my profile and then re-adding it fixed the issue. I did this on my Celebrity account, but I guess it would also have worked if I had done this on either the Azamara or RCI website. Thank you! I’ve just tried that and it worked for me too.

I don’t remember how they handled that. My history shows a bunch of Celebrity cruises with 1,2 and 3 points, from way back. I’m hanging on to my most recent key card, which has Discoverer Plus printed on it. If they short us a few points, I won’t care, as long as we can keep that status . It’s such a leap from Discoverer Plus to the top of the tree that we will never make it unless we win the lottery, and if we win the lottery, we won’t care any more! 😁
  18. At the port, there really won’t be any opportunity to tip, even if you wanted to. Those guys pick up your bags and are gone in seconds!
  19. I’m not much of a risk taker, so in my mind, the worst that would happen is the OP brings a steamer, it malfunctions and causes a fire at sea! I’d say leave the steamer at home.
  20. I agree with that too, although we buy the Ultimate package mostly for the wines, but partly for the nicer booze in the Atlas Bar.
  21. @federalexpress, I’ve been enjoying your wine posts very much. They are informative and thoughtful. My fear is that if Azamara get a graven-in-stone wine list, it will all be from big producers who have a reliable but boring product and can ship large quantities all year round. I’d love to see Azamara have a small core group of (possibly boring but dependable) wines, sort of like the Always Available food menu, and then some “guest wines” picked up locally from smaller producers, or as a remainder like the Tattinger. Some of them might be less than wonderful, but there might be some real stars, too.
  22. In your shoes, I’d cancel, and book something else I’d enjoy. We were scheduled to cruise on the Black Sea, and call at Odessa in 2022, but that couldn’t happen for obvious reason. The cruise was expensive, but we thought it would be worth it. It changed to a Greece and Turkey cruise, calling at ports we’ve seen a few times. They offered no money back for the changed itinerary. We cancelled and booked something else. I’m sure the Greece and Turkey cruise was nice, and we understood the reasons for the changes, but I wasn’t interested. You could also play the long game, and see if the price drops as people who aren’t happy don’t book or cancel. You could cancel before final payment, but keep an open mind about rebooking closer to the time if the price drops, which it might. That length and itinerary won’t be as popular, and bookings could be fairly soft. On a couple of cruises with Azamara we’ve had the opposite situation, where the cruise was lengthened by a couple of days, went to more interesting ports, and we weren’t charged anything extra.
  23. I’m so pleased that their concerns have been heard and addressed. That’s the sort of response everyone hopes for when they have a problem.
  24. I think it depends on what you like and want. The last four or five Celebrity cruises we did were Aqua class, because we really liked Blu. Eventually, we just didn’t want to cope with big ships any more, and we much prefer Azamara. We have found Discoveries to be a fairly good match for Blu, and the Patio Grill to be our favourite evening dining venue on any cruise line, when weather permits. We don’t like big production shows, (we rarely go to any shows on any line, although we do always go to the Azamazing Evening) so there really isn’t anything to draw us back to Celebrity. On a comparable itinerary, Azamara would win, hands down. In fact, even on an inferior itinerary, Azamara would win!
