A few weeks out had done some dummy bookings to see what still showed as available which was helpful. At upgrade there were 4 Neptunes available and they went fast.
wow, you are making me want a neptune now. thanks. long live king neptune!

Given how much time there is before the cruise I think we'll probably be given another opportunity. In the past we've received up to three offers before sailing.
good to know. thank you

Thanks, Mary229 enjoy your cruise, we leave in about five weeks.

We don't have much experience on upsell offers with HAL as we usually keep the room we book and ask to not be upgraded. But am just curious about your experiences in this situation. Were you offered an upsell a few weeks out? If so, did you accept it? How much was your upsell? Any recent experiences out there to share?

I was hoping to bring my hiking poles. Would they be allowed?
We took our hiking poles to Alaska as we had quite a few hiking excursions and it was worth it! If you are flying, ( glad I checked it out last minute) you will need to put them in the checked baggage. They are not allowed on the carry-on, which is what I was going to do so they would not get damaged. They collapse, so were were fine and never had one question about the rubber tips covering a spike. We took the ski baskets off as well. When we went on shore multiple times over a 14 day period, they were visible on our backpacks. We didn't have a problem.

As for ships, and the places they go. We have sailed the Rotterdam, and the Veendam both twice, some people found faults with the design changes bestowed upon them. And now retrospectively we who have sailed them (in our younger days) wish to sail the remanding sister (or like) ships. So off we go to make up to date memories on the Zaandam, and Volendam, long my they sail with HAL.

points are given for each $300 in spending. HAL is extremely generous in rounding up.
so $800 for cabana, $550 for HIA, wifi about $150, about $160I for gratuities works out to $1660 in spending already. That will give you about 5, maybe 6 points. You would need to spend another $2100 to make 4 star.
I just looked again at your post. You max out at 1 spending day for each day on the cruise, so your max is 33 points for an 11 day cruise. 11 for cruise, 11 for suite, and 11 for spending
Points are tallied by cabin and not per-person so you may just make it.

So, if I get this straight, you let a 200 dollar difference on obc ruin your cruise. What a drag. Going back and forth to guest services all week would have given me a heart attack.
this has nothing to do with the OP or your post content, other than to mention that i have noticed that your posts lately come with a lot of empty space at the end, in case you were not aware. you can edit all that extra space out... just in case you didnt notice you were leaning on the enter key or something LOL.

Oh what a great way to start and end a cruise! Lucky! Have done this on longer sailings, and love it. Cant wait to snorkel at HMC this spring!

well, if you book the cruises independently of each other, maybe, unless it is sold as a back to back. I just booked two 14 night cruises on the same ship in the same room as my own personal back to back with two different reservation numbers. I completed both check ins. but you only need one luggage tag if you are in the same room LOL. Have a great time, and dont worry about the little stuff. Last time I did this, I just went to the front desk on the last day of the first leg to make sure I didnt need to do anything. Calling HAL and linking your booking numbers, if they are different, is also always helpful.

The requirement that those visiting the roof of the Cathedral of León remove their shoes is not out of religious-based respect but because the roof (as you know) is entirely white, and the no-shoes rule is an effort to avoid damage. It was totally permissible to have one's shoes on while walking inside the Cathedral itself; the shoes only had to be removed once one got to the roof.
correct, but the no shoes policy was for both respect and damage. no argument here. I will not pretend to know what the cultural traditions were in 1747, just offering support. glad you got to visit the basilica. pretty sweet, right? But we are not talking about Nicaragua, right? I was offering support and suggestions to the original poster, not wishing to discuss our experiences.

Twice we have been to the Basilica cathedral in Leon Nicaragua, and we were required to take off our shoes while literally walking on the roof of the cathedral where all the views and domes were. Very picturesque. We were informed of this, and were glad to walk in socks in a cathedral that was constructed in 1747. Some people did not remove their shoes but most did. I agree with insidecabin and Albingirl, it is all about respect. We were allowed to walk in shoes in the alter area itself I believe. Each time I am in such awe and removing my shoes actually gets me into the cultural mood and be able to better humbly respect.
p.s. I will often pack a pair of sport pants to pull over my shorts in order to go into a church or cathedral. or you can get a pair of those zip on pant leg pants to help with the 'dress code' of the historical religious places as well. It is an easy thing to do for such a great experience. They are not so picky about the top, as long as it isn't a tank top, but shorts frowned upon and you stick out like a sore thumb.

Be sure the number of shares is evident on your paperwork, it’s now at the bottom of the proxy.
good comment. the number of shares and thereof is key. and oh boy I wish i had bought in when it was $8 a share as it is today..but that is okay, we have gotten a lot of OBC out of it over the years.

I submitted a request for shareholder credit back in October (for a March cruise). Got an auto-receipt saying received. Heard nothing. Sent another one (same cruise) 12/12/22 and again got the auto-receipt. Have gotten nothing else. Is this normal?
I havent had a problem, and like most everyone else, I get my credit within a day. How did you submit your current shareholder documents? I usually email them my proof of shareholder stock to world_cruise_reservations@hollandamerica.com along with my booking number and mariner number. I would email them again , just use the email i just gave you and resend..
oh, and in the subject text of your email, I always put something like 'Trade confirmation for OBC for booking ABCDEF please' and put the same thing in the email and then attach my shareholder proof. good luck, third time is a charm?

Which portion is first? If Mexico if your first sailing, then yes, they will test you on board. Just link your booking. If Hawaii is first, you will need to get a covid test. I hope this help. Have fun. I love sailing to Hawaii.

Vitamin Sea ... love it. BTW, Tuo Couple, how much snow have you had up there in the past few days? It's snowing here right now it's a blustery and balmy 23 degrees here in Omaha this morning. I'm about to fire up the snow blower.
We got a pretty good amount of snow here in the Sierra Nevada Mountains, a few feet over night. It was in the single digits the past few nights and is 18 ° right now. May you stay warm, and dream of warmer seas.

So I guess they get recognized by comments on survey. We also recognized them on the "let us know" feature of the navigator- hope this helped to get the recognition they deserve.
I start collecting names when I get on board in addition to mentioning them in the completed survey, I will write special notes to the department heads recognizing crew and departments. I know they appreciated it. I always get notes back acknowledging it.. and though I have always done this, honestly, I am so thankful to be back on board I think I go as above and beyond as they do to let them know how much I appreciate it. We took three cruises this year to make up for lost time during covid and have three more booked for the next two years. It feels good to be back to getting pampered and we could not do it without crew, naturally.

I have also been at the front desk for some innocuous reason and heard people requesting the same thing. I cannot imagine why and would never ever consider removing the crew appreciation. I appreciate all that they do. Did your wife find her earring?
