Actually, you will fly in and out of Houston. Hobby is closer, but still far. IAH is really far. Customs was a mess in Galveston last month, and it was nearly 11 AM before we got out of the terminal. We had an 8 PM flight so no worries there.

Oh, wow.  Maybe we will consider flying back home  on Sunday instead of Saturday and hang out in Houston for the night.  That will help reduce my stress level.

You could get lucky and be one of the first called, but no guarantees. Just be glad you are not trying to get to a flight.

I will keep that in mind because we have another Carnival cruise out of Galveston in December, which we are flying in and out of.  Thank you.

Yes. But you will wait in common areas and be called off by deck number of where your cabin was.

That kind of stinks.  We usually get coffee and stand in line so we can be one of the first few off.  Sounds like it could take a while to get off after they clear ship.  We have a long drive back to Michigan from FLL during spring break and was hoping to get a jump on it.  There will be lots of snowbirds driving back from Florida that day.

  4. Going in, I like having an idea of my total vacation cost (approximately). So if the base fare is cheaper and I have to pay for the things want is of similar cost to an all inclusive deal for comparable "wants" then I have no problem with it because it's 6 of 1, half dozen of the other. I also like the fact you can prepay for almost all your "wants" and most of the time get the 10-30% discounts. It allows me to have my vacation paid for (or at least most of it) before I take it. It also helps control costs and put my money towards the things that are more valuable to me and my family - like spa treatments, better excursions.

We have paid for specialty dining on a few cruises but find that our local non-chain restaurants are comparable if not better and cheaper. I would rather spend my money at our local restaurants and keep them in business then pay for the specialty restaurants any day. We are still eating on the cruise ship and have enjoyed most of our meals. No different than back home.

I think it is the feeling of getting cheated out of something you used to get that is the irritating part. But now, I look at it as what am I willing to pay for my experience and does it fit into my budget.

  5. Last year Princess played it on the big screen and are hoping for the same thing this year on Anthem. Also, if Michigan wins tomorrow they will be playing on Saturday the 31st, which is the first day of our cruise too. Hoping they show the final 4 games on the big screen too but think that it will be less likely to be shown since it is not the final game. Then again, it may be cold the first night sailing out of NJ and would rather watch it in one of the bars.

  6. This was a great read this morning as I am frantically trying to get all my ducks in a row before we leave in one week. My coworkers are stressed out that I am leaving them "hanging" and wanted me to be on some conference calls the week I am gone. Work over the last year has been CRAZY!! I really need this cruise and am so glad I will be unreachable on this vacation - at least most of the time. My job does not involve saving lives.

    4) European power outlet adapter. Many staterooms have both a US outlet and a European outlet. If you bring your own adapter you get an extra power outlet to use.

That's a great idea. I will have to put my adapter in my luggage right now. Leaving in just over a week now.

  8. We chose to stay a small family run hotel called the Hotel Golden http://www.hotelgoldenrome.com/

It was not in the center of Rome but we liked it because it was in a quieter area near the Borghese Gardens, Villa Borghese, and a short walk to the Spanish Steps. When I was doing research, this hotel in a different neighborhood also was highly recommended http://www.hotelcampodefiori.com/

We used Ground Link for transportation to/from the airport although I believe there is also a train that goes to the airport.

We also recommend this company as we used them for a tour. http://www.romecabs.com/

We loved the Hotel Campo de Fiori. Wish we could go back again soon and would definitely stay there again.

  9. I was able to sign in, but it took a few minutes for it to get my previous cruises info right. Still no access to Cruise Planner.

I sent a note to the Royal IT Dept.

They sent back a picture of themselves in a meeting discussing the pressing issues.

If you are able to get into the website and to the dash board, there should be an "access cruise planner" link just above your next cruise. If you click on it, it takes you to the planner - don't try to sign in again with the log in button in the upper right corner. Then click on one of the menu items in the gray section near the top, click reserve now, then enter your reservation information and it will take to to the cruise planner. What a pain in the arse but it gets you to it. Now if you don't have your reservation number, I don't know how you get there at this point.

  10. I hope somebody can help with this.

We will be in Nassau for 1 day on our upcoming cruise.

If we were to book a room for 2 people at the comfortSuites, is there any chance we can get 4 wristbands?

We will not actually use the room, just a 1 min check incheck out, just to get the bands.

    Thanks

I don't think so but not 100% certain. I know they charged us extra for the 4 people in the room most likely due to the costs they incurred for the extra 2 bands. We booked it for this April and plan to do the same simultaneous check-in/check-out process.

  11. Hello!

We are going in July 2018 and we have a family of 5. Do we book the room for the 4 wristbands and then purchase the 5th through bahamasdaypass.com? If I bought all of them through bahamasdaypass.com the total would be $850 (OUCH!). The room at Comfort Suits for 4 is $418.52 including taxes and fees and then $170 for the one from the other site. We still have about $250. Had anyone done this before?

Sorry I can't help you but will know how the purchase goes through CS in a few months.

  12. I signed up for the puzzle break room on line a few months before sailing. When I got there that day people were waiting for no shows because all spots were taken. When you get on the ship go to the seaplex, that's where the escape room is. Find a staff member and try to make reservations with them. From what people told me it is a bit difficult to book once on board, they have you going from guest services and the seaplex. So, my advice just keep checking the cruise planner every day.

Do you know what tab I should be looking for the sign ups at? Entertainment, internet & More, some other place?

    Thanks. Christine.

  13. I am on the March 30, 2018 cruise and was originally by Royal told to check a couple of weeks before final payment was due, which would put it at December 15. However, Royal opened up the reservations at end of October and when I called in November after a fellow cruiser mentioned it, Royal told me all advance reservations were full. I have been checking everyday to no avail. Looks like I will have to wait in line on day 1.

  14. Don't let a few deter you from posting. Maybe they were thinking you wanted to print off the entire menus and entire excursion book. I read your request as relating to more of a confirmation of what reservations you have already made. My reservations show up in the Cruise Planner under the Order History section at the top of the page. Once you see the details, you should be able to see the date and times reserved to the right side of the dining and shore excursions sections.

It also shows the entertainment reservations as well.

  15. As I can see from all through this forum some not very helpful replies! Fairly puts me off posting again!

  16. If I book the excursion now, I can cancell up to 30 days before departure.

If it goes on sale, I can cancel and rebook.

But is it possible to first book again and then cancel? Because what if it's full? I cancel and get left with nothing

I think if you actually call and talk to someone a RC you should be fine. I had the same worry but they just did it for me with their Black Friday sales and I received the discount. If the excursion is already full, you can confirm it the the phone rep before they pull the trigger and cancel the reservation.

  17. Yep very smart of you! we were arranging an upgrade pre final but they wanted $800,3 days later they lowered the price of the mini suite to a our balcony price but would not budge on the $800 for upgrade.

One thing to consider is the cost of the cancellation penalty against the lower price. For instance, if the cancellation fee is $250 but you can get an $800 upgrade cabin for the same price of the cabin you already have, I would eat the cancellation fee and book the upgraded cabin.
