  1. We are in San Juan from 3:30-11pm on celebrity Apex in a couple of weeks. I already have seen mentioned La Factoria, El Battey, Cannon Club and The Mezzanine? Any other suggestions? Particularly looking for happy hours, cool atmospheres and maybe live music! thanks
  2. Sailing on the Apex in a few weeks... we are currently in an inside cabin. I just looked and there appears to be no oceanview cabins available (only Oceanview GTY is showing). Does this mean there are no oceanview cabins left? I was wondering if it would be worth submitting a MoveUp bid for an oceanview to see if it was accepted, would we get upgraded to a balcony (of which there are lots available). Or would my bid just likely be rejected because there are actually no oceanviews available? Thanks
  3. The more I think about it, the more disappointing that compensation is. It would be different on a 7-day cruise where they could just change the ports around, or would have time to go to something worthwhile. But these people have just had their only port which was supposed to be 2 days in Bermuda, switched to basically nothing. NCL planned this cruise for February knowing that the weather could be questionable, if they plan it knowing that there would be no reasonable alternative itinerary, then they shouldn't have offered it. I think these people should get more than 20% FCC....
  4. I have friends who just boarded the Getaway in NYC for a 5-day Bermuda cruise and apparently it's being changed to Bahamas due to high winds. I can't imagine they will get very long in the Bahamas as it's a much longer distance. I wonder if they will offer any compensation due to a complete change in itinerary... I know it's beyond their control... just wondering.
  5. We will be in San Juan from 3:30 - 11pm on the Celebrity Apex in February. Any suggestions on what to do during this time period? We aren't interested in excursions. I'm also assuming we will only have a couple of hours of daylight. Can we squeeze in one of the forts? What's a good place to go for snacks and a couple of drinks? Is there anything that goes on the evening that's worth seeing?
  6. Nah I'm just a peasant who can't afford a suite, so I'm sick of reading about all these expensive cruise lines I will never be able to experience!
  7. Did some more research... Jan 26th sailing of the Eclipse is showing only desserts on the menu, LOL. So looks like something is definitely happening.
  8. Look at the Beyond Menu for the sailing this weekend... it looks like they have updated it. I assume they are concentrating on upcoming sailings and will then update future ones.
  9. Celebrity app looks to be being updated for some ships for next week and now includes prime rib, beef wellington etc. in the MDR. Hopefully this is the first sign of them backtracking on some of these changes.
  10. Still too early to tell... but it looks like the Celebrity app MDR menus are changing for some ships next week... now including beef wellington, prime rib etc. I wonder if there could be upgrades to the buffet at the same time.
  11. I'd totally agree except that at least for the Edge, the menu still has the disclaimer about the $16.99 charge for an extra lobster tail... so that would point towards it not being just an old menu....
  12. Possible breaking news?? I was looking at the Celebrity app menus for different ships and I noticed for the cruises starting this upcoming weekend for the Edge and Beyond both show significantly better menus than what is showing for the current week. Each night contains 4-5 Celebrity Signature options including PRIME RIB, BEEF WELLINGTON etc. over various nights.... So far it only looks like it's showing it for cruises starting this weekend... Apex menu hasn't been changed yet, only Edge and Beyond.
  13. Yea I guess because I have an inside cabin and am coming from NCL, hopefully Celebrity is still a bit of an improvement!
  14. Why do all of these threads about food on Celebrity end up being a place for people to recommend another cruise line? It's almost like employees of those cruise lines sit here waiting to pounce!
  15. Can we keep this topic to discussions about the Oceanview Cafe and people's experiences opinions on it? Seems like this is turning into a thread comparing and discussing other cruise lines which is very off topic.
  16. I found a recent video on YouTube (Nov 2022) with a review on Eden. It shows the whole menu. It looks like from the menu, the only way you can get the tasting menu is to get it with the wine pairing and pay an extra $100 per person. Is this correct? I thought you could get the tasting menu without the wine pairing for the usual cover charge?
  17. Ok it looks like there are still 4 entrees.... for some reason in the app the vegetarian stuff shows up below the kids menu. Lol. So there are at least 4 entrees.
  18. Can someone on the Apex currently confirm as to whether the "Celebrity Signature" menu in the MDRs has been reduced from 5 to 3 choices each night? I know it had been reported that they had removed 1 but not 2.
  19. I know there are already other threads about the cutbacks, but I thought this one warranted its own! I spent a bit of time on the Celebrity app browsing through main dining room menus for the Edge class ships. The app shows that for the Apex and Beyond, there are only 3 "Celebrity Starters" and 3 "Celebrity Entrees" each night??? Looking on the Edge, it shows 4 "Celebrity Starters" and 5 "Celebrity Entrees". These are the items that rotate each night and are the same across the 4 MDRs. One particularly enticing night has a trout dish, lemon grilled chicken and masala potatoes as the entress šŸ¤£ Can anyone on the Apex or Beyond confirm this to be correct? Why would the Edge have more selection when it has the same MDRs as the other 2? I looked at both current sailings and future ones and it appears to be consistent. If this is true, this is just as bad as reducing the buffet. It means every night each dining room will only have 3 different appetizers and 3 different entrees, the rest of the menu (Exclusive and Classic) stay the same. I was really looking forward to my first ever Celebrity cruise coming up in February, and if this is accurate I'm starting to regret it....
  20. Good call. Totally missed that. šŸ¤¦ā€ā™‚ļø
  21. Not sure if this what it has always said but this is directly from Celebrity's website. "Should feel comfortable' is not a requirement. The only dress code is what it says after "Note" where it says t-shirts, swimsuits etc. are not allowed. Even for Evening Chic it says "Should feel comfortable". Nowhere at all does it say shorts are not permitted. This has been confirmed by Celebrity employees telling people the same. So go to town and wear shorts and ignore the Dress Code Police that patrol this board! Smart Casual attire can be enjoyed every other night of your cruise. Women should feel comfortable wearing: Skirt, pants or jeans with a casual top Men should feel comfortable wearing: Pants or jeans with a short sleeve sport shirt. Note: T-shirts, swimsuits, robes, bare feet, tank tops, baseball caps and pool wear are not allowed in the main restaurant or specialty restaurant at any time. Shorts and flip-flops are not allowed in the evening hours. The dress code will be enforced at all restaurants. And guests are asked to follow the Smart Casual or Evening Chic dress code in the Celebrity Theater for all evening performances. The daily program, delivered to your stateroom and available at the Guest Relations Desk, will be your guide to the correct attire each evening.
  22. We are hoping to do the Baths when we visit on the Celebrity Apex on March 1st (a Wednesday). The best option I can find is Sensation Ferries. They have a shuttle at 8:30 from Road Town and returning from Virgin Gorda at 1:45. $40 per person including transportation from the Ferry dock to the Baths and back. Has anyone done it with Sensation Ferries? I was looking at Speedy's but the times don't really work out well. You either have way too little or way too much time in Virgin Gorda. Thanks!

  24. Just wondering, are you allowed to bring alcoholic beverages into the pool with you? When I sailed on NCL a few months ago they had this rule, which I thought was ridiculous. Iā€™m pretty sure every other cruise I have done prior to that (including NCL), did not have that rule.
  25. I'm just looking at some bar menus for various places on the Apex... some of the venues (including all 4 main dining rooms), on their menus only have wine and cocktails over $9. Is this all that is available in these places? Or is it possible to get wine etc that would be $9 or less so it's fully covered by the plan in all of these places? Thanks
