  1. I though there was a condition somewhere that states that if taxes and fees go up even after you are paid in full you may be responsible for paying the difference, in particular if gas prices go up. I'm glad they were able to make good on the original price for you!

I am very happy to hear they were able to get your booking back! I can only imagine how frustrated I would be in the same situation!

I believe this is just if you upgrade your booking. If you leave it as is then you are fine.

However, gas prices raising is a different part of that and it is stated all over carnivals site that if it goes over a certain amount then you could be charged x amount per day.

  2. The Victory is due for drydock in the spring of 2015. It is possible that it is around that week and that is why it is not showing on carnivals site.

I just went on their site and it is listed :) Nassau, Freeport & Little Stirrup Cay.

We just got back from the Victory 5 day that goes to LSC & Grand Turk and had a great time. LSC was awesome

  3. On the Victory a couple weeks back it was open on the first night, the next night which was a Sea day and then again on the final night. They were open 5-8 and on our sailing offered 2 small dishes from Cucina del Capitano, Blue Iguana Cantina, and Red Frog Pub.

I liked what we were served but everything was served with a toothpick. None of the options were "Tooth pick friendly" really, especially the small bowl of soup!

  4. Your baggage must all be the correct carry-on size in order to carry it on yourself - otherwise it must be checked.

You can only go right to your cabin if you arrive after 1:30pm; purchase FTTF; hold platinum status or have a suite booked.

We were so frazzled from the mis direction at the port a couple weeks ago that we walked in with both our carry on and other luggage piece. It is a larger I think 28" suitcase and the woman said it was no problem and went through the scanner with ease.

Maybe if they are super busy they dont allow this but it was first thing in the morning and there was hardly anyone there. We had FTTF so of course it was nice that we could take the large bag directly up to our room once we boarded.

  5. Did you pay for your gratuities in advance? When you don't pay for them in advance they automatically get added to your sign and sail card the day you disembark. Just a thought? Hope all works out for you.

Everything all worked out. They were temp holds. We always use cash and are aware of the tips. We dont pre pay them but rather put that money on in addition to the cash we want on our acct when we board. In our experience the tips come out on the second day so we always make sure they are covered.

  6. I dont understand why people are so sure about rules when they are wrong. The info is easily accessed on Carnivals site as posted above and people still say it is in correct.

My boyfriend and I took our first cruise when I was 21 and he was 23. No one cruised with us. IF you are under 21 THEN you must have someone 25 or older.

  7. For those who have done cash only for the S&S... How does it work? When you check in prior to boarding the ship, do you give cash then? I thought you always had to give a credit card? Is thre a set amount of money they want you to put down??

I'm going on my sixth cruise, but have only used credit... I would much rather pay cash....

Cash is very easy. I have given cash at the terminal before boarding but then you can add cash through out the cruise at guest services or one of the kiosks on board.

This last cruise I checked in at Miami airport and wasnt able to add cash they just accepted cards so we added money once we boarded. They do allow a bit of a grace period if you go over the cash you have added and let you know to go to GS to add money as soon as possible.

  8. Near the airport are new resorts being built. Atlantis has recently been sold and is much farther from the airport. It seems investors feel this area will boom.

Just read about this Baha Mar place on travel & leisures site. Apparently it is going to cost 1.5 Billion but will employ 8000 Bahamians and bring a lot more to their economy.

Love your review- I have been peeping NCL & RCCL reviews to see who we should sail with next. So far it seem NCL fits our interests. Love this itin as well.

  9. I thought a small quantity for personal use was allowed.

Anyways, honest mistake, and we hid nothing. We put a 12 pack of Canada Dry in my daughter's carry on, the beer in mine, and the coolers in my wife's.

They asked to inspect the Canada Dry at the X-ray machine, and when they saw it was a sealed case, had no comments.

After that we blithely lugged it on to the boat. I doubt we could have been less discrete about it - we had it in those cloth shopping bags.

We were on your cruise and we checked in security was LAX to say the least.

You can bring a certain amount of water/soda/ mixers. You got lucky:p

  10. We limited ourselves to one round of fancy drinks on deck and wine at dinner. Between the airport and cruise terminal we picked up a 12 pack of beers and another of coolers.

We left a few beers behind. Light drinkers. Next time we'll bring an inflatable ice bucket for in the room.

Even so, our bar tab came in at $30 per day. The Cheers deal would have been worth it if we had gone 6 rounds or more per day. Count on $15 per round.

interested in how you brought this on board since it is against the rules... carryon or checked luggage?
