  1. i am tryng to purchase the e-cards and i am only able to purchase 1... it is asking for all the payment information.

i want to purchase 2 at $600 each to pay off my cruise.

So am i to assume correctly that you can only purchase 1 at a time?

That is what I found. Couldn't see any way to buy more than one at a time so I made three different purchases.

  2. Better deal is at Office Depot this week...Amex gift cards... buy $150 and get $15 off instantly. There is one time activation fee but stiil getting 'free' money. Good until 2021 anywhere Amex is taken. Bought $900 yesterday (6 transactions). You can use credit card to purchase...fyi.

How is that a better deal? You get 10% off but then pay a fee making the "bonus" less than 10%. I suppose that you could argue that the freedom to use the Amex cards for "anything you want" is a plus. But if the intent is Carnival-related I can't see how that is better.

  3. Email from Carnival informs me that if I buy a Carnival gift card I will get a bonus gift card worth 10% of the amount. I came here expecting to see a healthy debate about the merits of the offer but didn't see anything.

Happy to hear what people think!

Buy a Carnival gift card valued at $200 or more and you'll get another one for yourself, valued at 10% of the original card. (Yes, you can buy more than one!) Our gift cards can be used on almost anything: towards the purchase of a Carnival cruise, or redeemed onboard toward the Sail & Sign account for gifts, drinks and fun. Offer Valid thru June 16th...
  4. I got a really nice cable lock for mine. About $10 I think. I have wrapped it around a chaise lounge to prevent theft when I took an excursion and couldn't take it with me then.

I intend to do the same. My concerns were 1) boarding in Baltimore - it would wipe my mother out if she had to walk all that way (ramps) and stand that long; and 2) Grand Turk - because it is such a long walk to the shore. She isn't incapable of walking, she just can't go long distances or with great speed.

At GT I will lock the chair to something and she can walk around the shops. This is why the cheap chair appears to be a good idea. If we find that the chair has "disappeared" I will only be out $100 and it will have served most of it's purpose.

  5. I will have a similar issue with my mother. At 83 she is doing fairly well, but she can't walk that far. I bought a folding wheelchair at Harbor Freight for about $100. Cheaper than renting, and if someone steals it I am only out $100. Seems to be durable enough for the limited use we will need.

  6. I don't know about the experiences of others, but while I was on the Pride last summer, my mother had chest pains and was taken by ambulance to the hospital. My brother called the Carnival emergency number to let me know - the ship was on its way to Port Canaveral from which I certainly could have returned home.

The operator at the Carnival emergency number told my brother that this didn't qualify as an emergency. No matter what my brother said, the operator wouldn't budge.

Since I wasn't a party to the conversation I can't really determine what happened.

Hopefully, if you ever need it, it will work better for you than it did for me.

  7. we just bring a small package of wipes when we board and wipe the handles, remote, telephone and anything else we're going to touch. Then any germs are our own.

We do the same. However, our plan falls apart once the steward access the cabin. If they use the TV while cleaning... The remote is now suspect. And all door handles too. There is no escape!!!
