  1. Today, we are sailing in 1/14, but a lot can happen in 2 weeks.  Good thing is that's it's only a 3 night weekend cruise so if we need to quarantine it wouldn't be for long.  My bigger concern is being positive at the port.  We are flying and I'd hate to waste that money to fly down to be locked in a hotel the whole time.  At least if I cancel I can use the tickets another time.  That said, I would be ok we the cruise being cancelled and getting a refund too but I don't think that will happen unless they are required to.

We are concerned about the same. We are driving from Canada, about 20 hours drive, not bad split over 2 days. If we test positive at the pier, we will turn around and drive home. Will we be allowed to stop at a hotel overnight? Eat at a restaurant on the way home? Buy gas? If that's the case, who is policing this? Wouldn't we also be able to stop at a nice hotel on the beach for a few days? Not that we would, but how safe is this "quarantine" if no-one is policing it? Couldn't we also just find a nice beach side hotel and quarantine there for 14 days, its still better than being at home for those 14 days, lol.

Hypothetical questions, we're really hoping we can cruise, its been 2 years.

In your case I guess I would be most concerned with crossing the border.   As for hotels and service along the way, just do your best to limit contact.  Drive thru food, self service gas, etc

  3. I am so undecided about what to do.   I will be discussing it with my son and his gf this morning to cancel or push through.  They both work in a hospital, although not directly with patients, and my biggest concern is a positive test at the pier.  Since we are flying we would not be able to go home, although I wondered if we would be able to rent a car and drive.  Port canceling isn't as issue since it's only a weekend cruise and one port is Freeport which is no loss.

I also did a scan for similar cruises later this year and the prices are much higher, and interestingly, nothing I looked at offered a sailaway rate.  We wouldn't take that anyway, but I always see it offered.  My bet is they got rid of it to increase the prices so people would keep the "cheaper" cruise they have now.

  4. Go to the desk and ask for the Hotel Director and then ask where you can sit while you wait for him/her to come.  You need a cabin that will sleep 4 people in 3 beds.  Period.  Even a 'smaller" balcony would be better.  Once they change your cabin, the banging and the heat issue will be gone too.

No. You must have a test done by or proctored by a provider. No self tests. It would be better to schedule another rapid test before you leave.

    https://www.ncl.com/refund-and-cancellation-policy-covid-19

    • If you, your family members or travelling companions assigned to the same stateroom cancel a cruise booking due to testing positive for COVID-19 within 14 days of embarkation, you and they are entitled to a FCC for the amount paid to Norwegian. To qualify for the FCC, if your COVID-h19 test was administered by a provider other than one retained by Norwegian, you must present your verified positive test result in a form acceptable to Norwegian.

And if you sail, you can’t have any “symptoms”.

What is the criteria for denying guests boarding?

We continue to work with authorities to update the criteria below. Please keep in mind that these can change at any time.

To protect the health of our guests on board, we will be denying boarding to anyone who

    • Any guest with a temperature detected at or above 100.4F / 38C.
    • All persons who, within 30 days prior to embarkation, have had contact with, or helped care for, anyone suspected or diagnosed as having COVID-19, or who are currently subject to health monitoring for possible exposure to COVID-19
    • All persons who have reported on the Pre-Embarkation Public Health Questionnaire or who appear symptomatic, are feeling unwell, are exhibiting flu-like symptoms or exhibit difficulty breathing.

Guests who are denied boarding will be issued a refund for monies paid for their cruise- only expenditures in the form of a 100% future cruise credit.

So based on this info, if you are around anyone with covid within 30 days, like a coworker, then you can cancel and get FCC?  Or, if you claim to have symptoms on the health questionnaire then they will give you FCC?  How is this proven?  Seems like an easy claim to make

  6. I'm going to try for an upgrade on my 1/14 cruise.  final payment was 11/15, and it ticked me off because they wouldn't reprice since it was less than 61 days.  It was only a few dollars, but it's the principal and would have been good customer service.  Anyway, it has since dropped again, and I think I can get a balcony for what I paid for an inside, and I can upgrade my son's balcony to something better.  Let's see where this goes

  7. I bit the bullet and just paid the higher price.  Like I said, it was only a few dollars, but it was more the principal.  It just seems like we should be able to do anything to a reservation prior to the final payment being made and if the final payment is due 1 day after the cutoff to cancel then they should change that to make the final payment due 61 days prior.

  8. So today is the due date for my January cruise.  I now the price dropped a few dollars and asked him to reprice and he put me on hold and came back with he can't because it is within the final payment window.  I didn't agree since I still have today to make the payment   I asked about cancelling and he said I would lose the deposit which was a cruise next cert.  Does this sound right?  I thought I would be able to cancel today

No extension - they're good for 4 years from purchase.

I have 2 that I bought in 2019 that are also good through 2023, but that was their original expiration.

Mine were extended.  When I originally bought them they were only good for 2 years, then at the beginning of Covid they extended them for 1 year, and then for a 2nd year

  10. I've always wanted to do a world cruise but I don't think it's in the cards for me.  The best I think I can do it to do segments over several years to I will sail around the world, but not continuously.  The thought of multiple ships for you trips does sound more interesting.  Different people, different menu, etc

According to a very recent blog, Freedom has already cruised at 85% capacity at least once.  She seems to be leading the pack on capacity ramp up.

interesting.  Part of me hopes for more people to have the real cruising feel.  I enjoy the people and people watching, but the other part says a less crowded ships would be welcome as well.  Should be interesting

  12. So I booked a cruise using a Casino Royale promotion for a weekend Bahamas cruise.  The ship is showing sold out which surprises me because they gave me a cabin about 3 weeks ago.  the weekend before and after are also extremely expensive so they too must be well booked.  I am under the assumption that the ships are still at reduced capacity, and a friend that was on the ship recently said there were 1400 on board for his cruise.  His was the M-F cruise so I think those tend to be lighter than the weekend ones to begin with.  My question is do you think it is safe to assume that there will not be 4500 passengers on my sailing?  Probably more than his 1400 but still not to max capacity?

  13. Can someone sum this up for me?  I'm a bit confused about deposits and credits.  I'm never used this program before, but I have used NCL's and that is pretty simple.

If I book a cruise onboard, then I get the deposit charged to my room and an OBC for my current cruise or on the new cruise I'm booking?
