Cool Cruiser

Cool Cruiser (2/15)

  1. Does anyone have recent pictures of pictures of menus with prices for playmakers, Johnny Rockets (including beverages), the juice/smoothie bar, and coffee bar? I am kicking myself for not booking the refreshment package and UDP before XMAS but I wanted to get XMAS paid off before any other larger purchases. Now the prices on both for our March cruise have gone up significantly where I am trying to decide the value on the cruise. I did book the 3 night dining package b/c that price had not risen much so I wanted something booked.
  2. I will be on the 3/3 sailing on Oasis. I just booked and was looking at the different packages. It has been several years since we have cruised Royal. I am thinking about the UDP package but cannot decide if it is worth it. It seems to have sky rocketed. We have 1 free dinner with our booking. Has anyone had issues getting into the restaurants after purchasing a UDP? What did you like or not like about it? I am not new to Oasis we have just cruised on NCL several times since our last RCCL cruise. We have gotten used to having more restaurants to choose from with the package. NCL is far from perfect but just want to hear recent cruisers experience with the package. I am looking at the refreshment package...It includes bottled water and specialty coffee (but not Starbucks). What other specialty coffee is there on Oasis? Does Oasis still have the smoothie bar by the gym?
  3. I am looking at airfare prices and hotels and they are pricier than we normally pay however everything seems to have gone up in price and the other weeks I have looked at are even higher. I know there will be kids on the cruise, I am just hoping that we avoid the worst of the crowds. I even checked Feb and prices are high then as well. If I could cruise later into May I would, but that just does not seem like an option for us this year. We recently returned from an all-inclusive that were were extremely disappointed with so are really looking for something more "familiar."
  4. My husband and I (mid 40's) are considering Oasis again for the 3/3/24 sailing. Normally we cruise in the fall or late spring (May) but due to work obligations that will not work this year. When are peak spring break weeks? From what I can tell it generally starts around 3/10-4/8 this year, does that sound right? We do not have kids and while we don't mind them we would prefer it not to be 3/1 kids vs adults. For some background we have sailed on 20+ cruises going back and forth between RCCL and NCL. We have not cruised RCCL since pre-covid but have cruised NCL since. We cruised Oasis of the Seas within the first 3-4 years it came into service. Normally we do purchase a dining package. How has their dining packages changed in the last several years? We used to pay a set price per person for 3 or 5 meals at the speciality restaurants and that included pretty much whatever you wanted with the exception of a few upcharge items. Do they limit you to $$ per restaurant or limit you 1 appetizer/salad? For those who have cruised on Oasis multiple times (especially recently), what changes have you loved?
  5. I wanted to see if anyone has done a Hawaii repositioning cruise and if you would do it again? I am looking at quantum’s repositioning in Apr 24 from Honolulu to Vancouver. How would you say the weather at sea is (cold/indoor weather or pool weather)…I know this can vary…just looking for perspective. I tried looking on the Hawaii boards but didn’t see what I was looking for. Thank you!!!
  6. I think I know the answer but can you change the name on a reservation to replace someone who can no longer make the cruise?
  7. The movies shown on Joy (or any NCL ship) do not compare to princesses movies under the stars. At least pre-Covid Princess had a really nice set-up for movies and played newer releases. With NCL it is more of an afterthought.
  8. I have been on carnival, RCCL, NCL, and one Princess. We gravitate back and forth between NCL and RCCL. We were not impressed with the Carnival cruise we went on after cruising for so long with NCL and RCCL. Our favorite ship overall was the NCL Escape. Princess was my first cruise 18+ years ago (time flies) and I had a good time and would cruise them again. You can’t go wrong with any of the major lines. You will find what you like about each of them and will make future decisions from there.
  9. Do you know when this changed? Friends of ours received an email with their exemption letter stating that in order to get off the ship you need to be on tours with Princess. They tried talking to their rep but they told me their rep was clueless.
  10. My husband and I have not cruised since Covid and have mainly cruised RCCL and NCL (10 cruises total). It has probably been close to 15 years since I last cruised Princess. What I loved at that time was MUTS and the pizza poolside grill. We are looking at the Mexican Riviera on the Discovery. What do you love about Princess and the Royal class in general? If anyone has some recent sample Patters for that class of ship (I know things change and are different by ship) that would be great! We are trying to decide between a cruise and an all-inclusive.
