  1. As others have said, since it is your first cruise, skip the dining package. Once on board, maybe try a specialty restaurant on a night that you see nothing on the “complimentary” menu that stands out.  Then you will know for future cruises what to expect. That is if you become hooked on cruising - it’s not for everyone.

So, it sounds as though you are a proponent of a woman’s right to choose...you are pro-choice?  Or, do you mean “my body, my choice....your body, also my choice”?

I’m just showing the hypocrisy - you know, similar to vaccines. The left leaning states say the minority community needs priority in receiving the jab because they are at higher risk. And what do you you need for a vaccine? Yup an ID. But yet these same left leaning states say the minority community is too stupid to get an ID to vote. So my assumption now is that once everyone in the minority community has shown their ID to get the jab, we can now require the vaccine passport as the ID to vote! Wow that was easy.

OF Course - Yup-- Your body , Your choice -- Very Smart ---

Hey, Whatya gonna tell the Police Officer when the " Bum " stops Ya and gives You a ticket --

Hey, Whatya gonna tell the tow truck driver when he/she is putting your Lexus-- Oops, your truck onto the hoist heading for the scrap yard.

I'll bet you won't take the vaccine -- it's for wimps, like us who CARE about ourselves and OTHERS.

Bonne Journee --- Have a nice day.

I drive 30-40k miles per year for the last 30+ Years and have only been stopped once for seatbelt violation and then only got a warning.

and you are right - not getting the vaccine. Been on a plain, been in restaurants, been at crowded rallys, run a retail business- haven’t worn a face diaper and haven’t been sick. Not afraid of any of this - living my life as normal as possible in this new normalcy.

If it's a choice between believing a ophthalmologist (who set up his own accrediting board to get accredited) and a renowned expert in infectious diseases, I'm going to go with the expert.

The expert who said a year ago there was no need for masks? The expert who said we may never shake hands again? That expert? Yeah I will go with the eye doctor.

While we are all probably excited at the possibility that cruising from US ports may start, here is the newest executive order from the Florida governor banning the requirement of covid 19 vaccinations as a requirement for obtaining service from any business in Florida (second page, section 2).  I am not sure how this will impact any cruise line wishing to sail from a Florida port  with fully vaccinated crew and passengers.

Let’s hope it prevents them from sailing from Florida until they drop the vaccine mandate.

  6. Did equinox aqua class 2 years ago and coral mini suite before that. Celebrity no questions asked because of the food and service.  But there will be lots of changes across all lines upon restart so all opinions and recommendations are subject to change.

  7. The vaccine is the new legal discrimination. So my question is, if I am a business owner/cruise line operator, can I refuse service to minorities who have not been vaccinated?  If I am a baker, do I still have to bake the LGBTQRWD+ cake for you if you haven’t been vaccinated?  Wake up everyone- this is a slippery slope we are going down.

So it's selfish for me to have an opinion, selfish of me not to roll up my sleeve every time the government says we need to inject a serum for a virus that is 98% survivable.

I thought it was my body my choice and you have a problem with that?

I find it interesting that almost 30-35% of health officials have refused to take the vaccine up to this point, what do they know that we don't?

You know where this headed right, vaccine passports for travel, to go to the market, to see a movie at a theatre, to go shopping at a mall........

The government was genius in the marketing of all of this - the mask/vaccine is to protect others not me, businesses enforcing masks/vaccines so government isn’t the bad guy. Genius I tell ya!

are vaccines the light at the end of the tunnel?   No they are not. People turning off MSM and getting on with their lives is the light. When we have accepted Twitter/FB/Google controlling the narrative, then we as a country and democracy are screwed.

  9. What no one here has mentioned is the longevity of the vaccine.  Depending on what source you use, the vaccine could only last 3 months to a year with most articles I'm reading saying about 8 months.  So all those who have already been vaccinated will need another shot before actually getting on a cruise, since most of us here agree that cruising will not start till the 4th quarter of this year or later - 7 to 12 months from now.

Which then brings up another question - how will cruise lines track this?  Since I haven't gotten the "jab" (shot apparently is politically incorrect), I don't know what type of proof you get.  Do you get an "official" card?  Is there a date on it?  Will cruise lines require your vaccination to have an expiration 3 months past your cruise date, similar to passport expirations?

So many questions, so few answers.   I see a lot of shortsightedness on these forums.

Unbelievably, a year later, there are STILL people who walk around in a panic that even a 60-second encounter with a person who sneezes is definitely going to lead to their death. 🙄 Despite the fact that, as you say, we know a lot more about the virus, we have declining deaths and infections, and more and more people vaccinated. And we don't even know for certain how many people had the virus and the disease and recovered, yet never got diagnosed. I feel sorry for people who are either that ignorant or in complete denial. Some people are still mindlessly parroting the now debunked claim that cruise ships are "floating petri dishes." 😕

I think a lot of those people reside right here on CC....

But I do wonder everyday how much "fun" I am missing out on by refusing to wear a mask where required - airplanes, cruise ships, Key West, movie theaters, etc.  Just read an article today concerning Texas dropping COVID restrictions, but yet Alamo Draft House said they will continue requiring masks in their theaters but the very next sentence says Alamo Draft House filing Chapter 11 bankruptcy.  Hmmm.  There is demand for normalcy more than people realize.  Since the beginning, this should have been left to we the people to make decisions regarding our own health.  But I know statements like this don't do well on cruise critic when run up the flagpole.

So back to the poll, as others have said - there was not an option for me to vote.  I want normalcy.  I think there will be options for everyone when cruising resumes.  Just like food/entertainment/ports of call, I believe different cruise lines will have different virus restrictions.  Hopefully one of those options will be pre-covid sailing policies AND on a ship that doesn't serve pb&j sandwiches.

You started a thread with the identical title last year. Rather than start a new one, you should have asked for an update using the existing thread.

Mods have been asked to merge them.

Did I miss the election of you becoming the thread police? This is the 2nd thread I’ve read in the last 20 minutes where you have said this....

The best of testing cannot determine if a person has the virus within 24-48 hours of being infected. And by the time any retesting on board finds any such people, they will have had a chance to spread it to others.

And since no vaccine is 100% effective, that spread could infect someone who has been vaccinated.

It will be very difficult to make sure nobody on a cruise ship is infected.

I don’t think you are allowed to you use common sense on this forum...

The very first example by the OP attacked people who apparently were using them quietly.

I attacked no one.  I simply had an observation about the wide use of cell phones throughout the ship, giving 3 examples to support my observation.
