I did this tour a couple of years back on Allure.
I remember the ferry ride to main land very well. Not one to get motion sickness but jeez i never felt so ill as I did on that boat. It was full of Japanese passengers throwing up everywhere which didn't help haha.
But a great tour, highly recommend it it! We definitely had enough time at the beach, we had a spot of lunch there which was provided then went for a long stroll along the beach.
Really nice beach and its very quiet.
It was absolutely boiling hot there though, just as Priusprof says!

With all the money they are "throwing" at this call centre, it would of been cheaper to not have bothered and kept the UK centre!

In Blu restaurant....
"My friend told me that the food has gone downhill in Blu. She's right" (later conversation revealed it was her first Celebrity cruise)
ahhhhh hahahaaaa this one got me! :D

Wow!!! Crazy seeing a big block float out!

Well they can't send staff from the RCI UK office as they have all been 'let go'...so if they send staff from the USA office they will get really mixed guidence regarding the different policies (ie: not being able to change a Gty room allocation...). It could get worse rather than better
A few members of the UK office have moved to Guatamala! And are now employed by Xerox :eek::eek:
This should help improve the service.. hopefully...

hahaaa The ship hasn't been fully built yet - so how do you know you wont like Anthem even more than Indy?
I'm welcoming her to Southampton with open arms. A new ship is always exciting :D

I'm the same! I even go to the extent of scouring the destinations on google maps and planning walking routes on street view hahaa :D

Well I have our first Celebrity cruise booked and found out today that we have been double charged on the taxes. Same cruise now on the website has taxes half of what we've been invoiced so I can't wait to waste hours on the phone to them. They had better sort out this customer service issue pronto or this maybe the first and last Celebrity cruise.
Celebrity have IT issues too
The website is showing the wrong amount for taxes when making a new booking. If you look at the total cost of what you paid - and the total cost showing on website - should be the same??

Does anyone know how likely the toll amount will be from manhattan to the port?
I've been quoted $50 one way fare.
Just trying to figure out how much the total would be including tips and tolls

I loved the WJ on Allure, my only complaint being it felt far too small considering the size of the ship.

Don't use taxis between NY and NJ.
Book a car service like Dial7 or Carmellimo.
Thanks Carol
They're actually quite reasonably priced :)

Hiya
Sorry to ask this question as I'm sure its been answered a million times before! There is just so many pages on this thread to scroll through.
What's the best way to get to the port from times square. My initial thought was a taxi but after doing some research this is apparently not so easy?

If you pre book and select the option of 'not sharing with others"
Are you guaranteed to have a table of 2?
-
Promenade rooms only berth 2 people. But can fit 3 if the infant is in a crib.
So I'm guessing you've requested a crib for your son?
Maybe the travel agent realised there were only 2 beds (or one double) which is why they denied the booking not knowing about the crib??
-
uh oh!! I'm sure RCI will easily pay that money, no?

Could you possibly provide details of where this is documented? It is not mentioned in the T&C's as far as I can see, nor in the list of C&A benefits.
Ive never seen this documented but it is true! If you are Diamond plus or above you can transfer sailing free of charge. Celebrity also do it for Elite and above.
As littlebriatin said you get charged 75.00pp should you change sailing yet again after the first free change.

"Ah ok, sorry but you may get disconnected because we have problems when we put guests on hold to check things we haven't been trained on"
So they're making excuses for hanging up before they do it lol

I think we need a new "All Things Explorer" thread. Even that part 2 one is getting difficult to navigate.
Yes, there's far too many pages to trawl through!! 22 days to go until my first Explorer cruise

There is still a drinks package / obc promotion in the UK for Winter sailings.

Our cruise documents say we have a specific boarding time between 2-2:30 since we're on deck 2. Do people generally follow these, or are these just suggested times? They won't stop us if we get to the port around 11?
I got the same on my documents - I'm on deck 2 too.
I asked the question on another thread and apparently its fine to ignore the times included in the ticket booklet

There are still 4 family suites available
(They're hidden on website so you have to call rci / travel agent to look at these)
maybe you'll get one if those!?
