  1. Looking at the picture it could be an illusion. The upper decks have dividers that look straight, the lower decks looks "slanted out". I know on the M class the lower deck you go aft the longer the balcony is. That's why we loved decks 7 and 8 on that class. Look closely if you can and try to picture all of the dividers being "straight up and down". Maybe that is the illusion?????.. Just looked that way to me. The deck may be longer but not wider.

  2. Thanks for listing our cabin. It is right where I thought it would be. Not such great views on our right but with the new infinite balcony I don't think we would see much anyway. This should be an interesting cruise for all of us. We needed to be closer to the elevator with walking issues and with the location of the handicapped cabins not being our favorite this was available. We have the majority of our friends and family all on the same deck close to each other so this will be interesting.

Thanks again for having those great eyes to be able to figure this out.

  3. LLP does not want long time cruises who no longer spend money on photos or purchase mdse in the overpriced shops on board. She appears to want the torn jean crowd, the socially diverse and those with a cause. All you have to do is read her various comments. Might be time to exit.

I have said this for a long time. Loyalty means nothing to her and she has taken the true identity of Celebrity and made it RCI. Making all the ships the same is a foolish idea. Been with Celebrity since 1992 and enjoyed the differences, doing Edge in January along with Silhouette and probably no more. Sad.

She wants young folks. Just have to find another cruise line that meets our needs. Loved Celebrity but, sadly, things are changing and that's what they are looking for so, whatever. I wish them all good luck.

  4. Have to admit that that photo of the atrium reminds me of the main feature in the atrium of P&O's Britannia ! Here is the link -- you'll see what I mean re the main feature

Great catch! Look at all those lovely folks dressed up so nicely. Maybe you are correct. The openness of the Martini Bar makes it much easier to move around. On the other classes it becomes so congested from the dining room to the theater that we avoid that area during those times. Love the new look on Edge and can't wait to experience it in January.

  5. This may sound silly but the article states Silhouette will be using this building also. I don't believe that will be the case since we are disembarking Edge on 1/20 and going right to Silhouette for our b2b.

Also, if these are the "suite only" areas, how about some pictures of the places us lower level folks will have to use. Nice for those in the upper classes but the majority of us are just "regular folk". We are in E2 and only hope that the lines and boarding processes are so much better. Sailed out of the original terminal in 1992 on Zenith. Then the terminals got to be the worst part of the cruise. I remember disembarking one time from Silhouette and had to walk off the gangway on to the parking lot and stand in the sun waiting to get into the other terminal for the luggage. It was a nightmare. Then no private cars would be able to pick you up so we had to lug our luggage way over to what looks like now is the right end of the new building. What a disaster, especially on the weekends when ships were docked on all sides. Hoping this is a major improvement. Looks like a beautiful place to begin our cruises.:D:D

    :D

  6. Got a call from our friends who are also sailing with us and who booked Le Grande Bistro for the first night of January 13th. Got the call from Celebrity and I called Celebrity right back since she mentioned our names and he said he tried to reach us. Yes, we did book it for that night at 6, especially since that's a great way to try the new concept for so much less.

Cruise Critic has the best info and you know what is going on all the time. Thanks folks.

Hope everyone gets "the call" since it seems like a good deal, at least to try once. Did that with Qsine twice, did NOT like that at all. To each his own as they say!

  7. Okay, I'm confused. Is this only on certain nights at Le Grand Bistro? We booked it for the first night of our cruise in January and I'm not so sure it will suit my hubby. Can anyone here confirm if it will be every night or some nights when the full schedule begins. OR is it only for the pre-inaugural cruises of 3/4 nights?

    Just wondering.

    Thanks.

  8. But, be aware if you wait you could risk NOT getting the dining packages. Our Eclipse cruise this past April sold out of the packages the first day on board. Our January 13th cruise on Edge sold out of many of the specialty restaurants for specific times about 2 months ago. We were fortunate enough to get Fine Steak House and Le Bistro for our preferred date and time but our friends who are sailing with us waited and couldn't get them. Also, many of those who booked within the past 3/4 months were "wait listed for 6 p.m." for Select dining. We just plan on them coming with us since "select" means any time but it might require a wait.

Remember, this is a new ship so don't be discouraged. Might open up closer to sailing since some do change their minds by final payment. Our cruise has so many "seasoned" Celebrity folks sailing for the new experience so we are expecting waits and lines. Many are sailing for the experience of the new ship and class.

Be patient and look into everything you want now. I agree about the dining tho. I for one don't expect any "specials" with the specialty dining this trip. With them being sold out so very far in advance looks like they won't need to "push" these like they do on the other class ships.

Enjoy the journey and the excitement of planning and counting down the days. We all are!!!!!

  9. We are Elite Plus (almost half way to Zenith) and Diamond Plus (2/3 of the way to Pinnacle) and we don't expect to ever reach Zenith because we usually travel in an ocean view balcony, but we do have a shot at Pinnacle. As far as we know nobody has ever made Zenith and Pinnacle. Most of the Pinnacles we know have basically cruised only Royal (with possibly a small number of cruises on other lines). We don't know any Zeniths so don't know if that also is true for them.

There are now many Zenith members. We know a few and they continue to grow at a steady pace. Celebrity just doesn't tell you how many. We are Elite plus also and this is a joke. We were original Captain's Club members when it meant something. Stopped going to "events" because they are way to crowded and it means nothing any more.

We also will never reach Zenith. BUT, cruising is still great and if they want to continue to count our "points" go for it. The spread between E+ and Zenith is ridiculous. This is proven by the fact that suites are now allowed in Michaels and Luminae. BUT, that might change in the future with the number of Zeniths rising. Who knows.

Still love the Celebrity "brand" even tho it has gone down hill since our first cruise, on the Zenith by the way, in 1992.

    Oh well, time marches on!

  10. It's been down much longer than hours! I have tried a few days and it is a black screen, no message. When there were words they wouldn't take my sign-in info.

Wonder if you sent them a message that your web site was down at your bank and payment would be forthcoming when it comes back, if ever.

    This is getting so old.

  11. I will gladly post after our cruise in January. Yes, I believe Celebrity will protect us and themselves, ESPECIALLY themselves, from law suits in the future.

After reading some of the posts here I thought well, maybe, they did the location of the hot tubs to DISCOURAGE parents from allowing their young children to use them. I agree, X has never enforced the "no kids" rule but I have also seen instances where staff were trying to enforce the rules and were being yelled at by nasty folks who don't give a crap about rules! Damned if you do, damned if you don't!

I know we won't be using these hot tubs since hubby can't climb in and out with his legs. Something Celebrity may re-think on Beyond and the next 2 ships being built. I remember sailing Millenium in her maiden year and then on to the younger ships in that class. You could definitely see the differences and improvements from ship to ship.

Looking forward to being able to make our own decisions after January. Still, will be an interesting trip exploring a completely new concept. We have an Infinite balcony so that will be very different. Might send us flying back to the S class but that works. We will disembark Edge and go across the dock and board Silhouette so we'll have a real comparison in real time.

    Happy sailing all.

  12. I understand the concerns about the hot tubs being that way but remember, CHILDREN ARE NOT SUPPOSED TO BE IN THE HOT TUBS! As a grandparent I would not allow the kids in anyway. The temperatures are not good for young kids but parents seem to ignore that fact. We don't utilize the hot tubs so it's not a real concern for me but when my kids and grandkids were little they were not allowed in them. I do agree that if someone is drinking and stands up "tipsy" it might be a hazard. It looks like they took the hot tubs off the main pool deck for more room. We are on board next January so this will be a sight to see.

We love the M and S class ships but thought we'd give this one a try. Might be one and done.

When we disembark from Edge we head right over to Silhouette so it will be a real-time comparison and I'm just speculating but think the S class might win over the new "E".

Willing to give it a try just to explore and thanks Lloyd for the great pictures. Now if only we got the remaining "open spaces" on the deck plans I would really be happy. Just too long for these "reveals". Makes it way too boring.

    Just my opinion folks.

  13. We have yet another reason why we love the bed by the veranda. Electric/wheelchairs! Having the small electric chair for DH makes the bed by the veranda so much easier to maneuver. Only problem is the one we have does NOT fit thru the cabin door easily. I have to break it down and lift it in sideways. Seems on Edge, which we will be sailing in January, has indications on our cabin (E2) and other cabins that the doorways are handicapped accessible. Now THAT will be a treat. We did pick a cabin with the bed by the veranda but with this being a different ship we'll see how it works.

  14. We can't afford the spa experience. Just way too expensive. Those who do will love this one but, sorry, waiting for the rest of the ship to be revealed. We are booked in January, 2019 and are still waiting those areas we can utilize. Wonder what the theater will look like?

  15. We are in an E2 cabin and probably have the bed by the balcony. Even tho is it a tight squeeze on the S class ships, it works for us with my husband having a small electric chair. The bed by the bath makes it almost impossible for move the chair around in the cabin and with it by the balcony we can easily enter and store it and have room to move around. It does fold down so that makes it even better.

As said, who knows what we will find when we board in January! Look at what they have already done, changing some E2's to Aqua class. AND the reconfiguring of the Celebrity suite would turn me off fast! I wonder if these are also near the MC? Didn't check that one out but I understand they are not "hot sellers" yet.

Oh well, at least we will get the opportunity to investigate this new phase of Celebrity.

  16. When was Celebrity in Charleston? The current terminal has been used for cruises for only about 5 years old - was there something before that for cruise ships?

In 2010 we sailed Mercury from Charleston and that was done for a while. Celebrity then removed her from the fleet and discontinued sailing from Charleston. Yes, the port area ia horrible. Way too congested because it is in downtown near the Market. Maybe if they did complete a port/terminal further up it would be feasible. Right now, it was the most ridiculous way we have EVER had to board a ship. From dropping off luggage, being put on a BUS in the parking area, waiting to be moved 1 BLOCK to the terminal. When we disembarked we had to board a bus to be taken to a garage for our luggage. Just plain idiotic.

  17. Just got off Eclipse and Bianca from Cafe al Bacio is also going to Edge after her vacation. She is a young woman and so very, very organized and friendly. Hope she is still on in January, although I am sure she will be. Knew everyone by name and what they wanted when she saw them. Great addition to the crew.

  18. I believe many are becoming very bored since nothing is every forthcoming from Celebrity. So much "hype" at first, now nothing. We are booked for next January and now really are NOT so excited. This roll out is very, very slow for the balance of a ship sailing in November.

Thanks Lloyd. Without you there would be nothing to keep us interested.

  19. We were invited as some of the very first Captain's Club members to view her in NY when she sailed there for the first time. It was snowing on December 8, 1995. Then my son and his wife had their honeymoon in 1997 with all of us and we then sailed her 2 more times. We loved Century. We also loved Zenith and Horizon and she seemed so much bigger. We have sailed all but 1 "M" class ship, Infinity. We have sailed all "S" class ships except Reflection and now we are booked on Edge for January, 2019. Hoping Edge isn't the last one on that class since we really and truly think the concept might be weird. BUT, you have to try it and see.

At least Century isn't being scrapped!!!

  20. Actually that is incorrect. A notary can only notarize in the state they were issued their license (at least, that's what is legal.)

The simple and common solution for OP is to sign a power of attorney prior to departure. The POA should be limited to this one, single transaction. Typically, one has a relative or close friend be the POA, but an attorney can be used. The escrow agent or closing attorney can guide you and probably already has the fill in the blank documents.

It's also possible that you may be able to presign the documents. Another question for the escrow company or closing attorney.

Yes. Was a Notary for 25 years and only in the State in which you reside can you do anything legal. As suggested, give someone you trust a limited power of attorney and let them take care of this for you. Anyone could challenge the notary at sea.

  21. Notice how they have all those "skinny" folks dressed nicely???? That really stands out for me. But those chairs and loungers are not conducive to bad backs. Way too modern for us BUT we are booked and we'll see. May be "one and done" but at least we can experience the newness in January, 2019.

  22. Okay, I did get a response to my e-mail and it was nothing positive. I asked about combining reservations for 1 night and she said we would have to do it on board. Lots of "suggestions" about maybe doing set times but nothing much more.

I hope most of you have already done your "reservations" for the main dining room. Our friends are now booked as "wait listed for select" for 6 p.m. No choices. A few of us have attempted to switch some seating and can't now because they are "fully booked". Where does that leave those who are not informed by CC and have really no idea about "reservations". Yes, they tell you you can "walk up" and you will be seated as available. That could be 9 p.m.!!

Oh well, we are done. We have booked a few specialty places but that's it.

I wish you all good luck with your attempts. Just suggesting you take a look now since, here we are all these months out, and the restaurants are filling up and your hoped for time may be gone. Oh well, we'll see.
