  1. I want to add that I believe the person Lastdance mentioned (Ivana) is the Dining Administrator for Edge. I had thought such pre-cruise resources were only meant for suite guests, but I could be wrong. Does anyone know if these resources are available to all of us?

I would also appreciate this information since we are 5 couples who, thru the famous web site, could not link our reservations for the steak house. I called and, as usual, got the "did you put in the number of people you would sit with". No, because it was NOT "put in the number" it was we will try to accomodate a group of 10. So, now we are all booked, paid and have been told that we have to wait to board to go and make the arrangements.

I anyone knows how to get this done now I would really appreciate any help. This is crazy. I also attempted to link for the main dining room and, no, same story. Friends have been "wait listed" for 6 in the MDR and never asked for 6. They are all now trying to get a later time. This new "system" is NOT going to work, especially when many folks who are not here on CC don't have the information we do. I see problems for those first few cruises. Hope not.;);)

  2. Congrats on the 50 years! Did you call Celebrity to book the new steak place? I would not try to do that on line for a large group. Good luck!

Not yet. TEhe 3 couples have booked and received confirmation so NOW I will call Celebrity with their res. nos. and get it done. At least I will have the confirming e-mail showing the reservation. We are okay on-line with the booking but you know Celebrity!!! Have to confirm a dozen times before it's really okay.

    Thanks for the wishes.

  3. We sail Eclipse on April 1st. Ordered tags 3 times, not one came. Called Celebrity, had them in 4 days. I need to have them prior since my husband is in an electric chair and uses a walker and it makes life so much easier for me just putting them on the morning before we board. The web site sucks.

  4. It is indeed selling good even though the prices have gone up a lot. Our sailing still has availability mostly because they added the Dec 9th sailing and some moved to that sailing.

No Teerick, we disembark Edge on the 20th and head to Silhouette at the same port. We are doing Edge with 18 others to give it a shot. We will celebrate our 50th wedding anniversary on Edge and today I am going to attempt to book the steak place for that. Wish me luck!!!!

  5. Looks good but our main concern is handicapped parking. I am hoping there is sufficient parking for those who need to be closer to the buildings. We have sailed out of the old 25 and it was fine when it was in the Zenith era but NOT when we sailed a few years ago. Just horrible. Now looks like a brand new experience but, again, having so many more handicapped spaces closer to the port would be so gratifying for those who cannot do those distances with wheelchairs, electric chairs and walkers.

Looking forward to seeing what transpires before we sail next January.

  6. That I'm not sure of, but it's certainly a tweaked version of Dynamic Dining on Quantum. I actually enjoyed the concept, but apparently I was in the minority. Of course with Dynamic Dining each venue had a set menu that didn't change, and I think that is the biggest difference with what Celebrity is doing with Edge. Also as I recall, there was no traditional early and late seating option. The key to success here is not to make any one venue significantly more popular than the others. Having 75% of the menu the same in each venue should hopefully curtail that from happening. So I guess that each of the 4 venues will have a percentage dedicated to those with traditional dining, and a percentage for open seating. I wonder if we will be able to select which of the 4 venues we would like to be assigned, and if not, how will Celebrity decide?[/quote]

That is the question. I do like the idea of rotating with the same wait staff as that will give one the opportunity to experience a different ambiance and possible variety.

I believe Brian was the gentleman that was one of the major players with DD at RCI.

My husband also thought he heard the staff would follow you. How? It's really not very clear in the presentation. So if you go to Cosmopolitan one night and Tuscan the next you will have the same staff? Then you change, yet again, maybe your time? I an see if you are at set time and station but that can't work with "Select Plus". Am I just confused? I truly need to have more info since they spoke so fast and glazed over everything way to quickly.

  7. After watching this I see nothing but chaos trying to figure it out! They say you have to make reservations when you call Celebrity. You are most likely not going to get "fixed" dining. I'm guessing you have to reserve your time for every night in the same location. It's very unclear if you choose to try each one you have to make reservations for them. This is going to confuse a lot of folks. And, how will this work? You may have too many for 1 dining room and you will, yet again, be put on a waiting list? More information needs to come about how this is going to work.

As far as the specialty restaurants, not my cup of tea and the prices are going to push a lot of folks to regular dining. For a special occasion it will work but wonder how others feel about it?

They yet again held back on Mast Grill, Ocean View Cafe and a few other dining venues that they aren't "revealing" now. Waste of time as far as I can see. But we are booked in January, 2019 and now have to figure out what the heck we are going to do. They are pushing things a bit too far, but that is my opinion. This idea failed on Royal and now we try it on Celebrity?

I do not and never have liked LLP. She is ditsy. Loves herself. They spoke so quickly you didn't get all of the information. It was like they were rushing to get it over with. Then we don't get invited to things like in the past.

I remember when Celebrity invited they Captain's Club members (of course we were a smaller group and paid for it) to a viewing and luncheon when ships arrived in ports for the first time. No more.

As I say, it is my take-away from watching the entire presentation and it left me just as confused as I was when I was reading about the "reveal".

Thank goodness we have 9 months to get it figured out. And, by the way, friends of ours are on the same cruise in the Royal Suite. He called about booking all specialty restaurants and asked about main dining. The rep. was also confused and told him they were just figuring it out!!!! Not good.

  8. Call Celebrity one touch. I did ours last week then friends wanted to join us so they did theirs separately. We got the e-mail with the entire 14 nights booked but then I checked with One Touch and the agent was wonderful. She linked our reservations so now we are all set. On Eclipse they do have the 2 lines. If you do not dine there on any night just let the maitre' d' know and they appreciate it.

As a tip. We don't go on the first night. We take advantage of the specials for the first night to avoid the chaos of the MDR. People don't know what to do, and it's just confusing until around night 2 or 3. Then we have had no issues at all.

  9. We loved Silk Harvest over Sushi on Five. Tried sushi, hated it so Silk Harvest fit the bill for a different dining experience. We have eaten in some pretty bad so-called Asian restaurants, and I am born and raised in New York. Doesn't matter where you live, food is a subject that can go all over the place. What friends like you may hate.

I would try it and see. If you don't like it, don't go back. We NEVER go back to Qsine because it's just too much food and the 2 times we gave it a try, not to our liking. Some folks love it. See, subjective.

If you go, enjoy. Order the smaller plates and give them all a chance. Then, make decisions based on your own tastes.

We love Tuscan, not the current menu but the original ones. Murano is okay but wonderful for their lunch. Would go back there in a heartbeat for lunch.

So, have a great experience, no matter what you choose.

  10. We have met so many since 1992 but our "besties" have become like family and have even been to our family events over the years. In 2004 we met 2 couples and we are still wonderful friends. In 2006 we had a group of our own and met another group in Hawaii and that was it. Sailed many times with them and will do so again with one of them on April 1st.

Cruzlover, remember that 2010 cruise? Wow! Now Ryan is heading off to college in the Fall.

We have so many wonderful memories and will be making more with 20 of us on Edge next January. They will help us celebrate our 50th wedding anniversary. Now THAT'S friendship!!!!:D:hearteyes:

  11. I have had great information and help from them also. Just yesterday I e-mailed about our luggage tags since I do NOT trust the web site with ordering them. Even tho I did order them, I also wanted to confirm that they did, in fact, receive it.

In the afternoon I received a phone call and another e-mail that I could not open. BUT, this morning I did and Kim had advised to send the address directly to her and she would get them in the mail. We are not at our home address and that was my worry.

I have dealt with Sean also at Customer Service and a few others and they have been right on top of things. That will be how I deal with Celebrity from now on. I have transferred back 2 future cruises directly to them so I can now deal directly with them. Travel agent we used previously became useless and so now I deal direct.

Don't be afraid to call them. You may be very surprised.

  12. One more thing, I did NOT say anything about smoking in the designated areas. That was the point. Those who stand on their balcony and try to hide it. THAT is dangerous. Nor did I think they were trying to "break the rules". This comes up all the time on CC. Done with My rant.

  13. I don't consider that a "rant". I have experienced smoking in the inappropriate places on a ship and I to am allergic. It is my opinion, nothing wrong with what I said and, by the way, I would never "rant" at an individual. I stated my case and that's that. I know many others would say the same thing but won't. You are entitled to do whatever you want but if you get caught it's on you. I repeat, if you do not want to follow the rules, then find another cruise line. You probably won't unless they are from Europe where smoking is widely accepted. Great. That is your prerogative but, as for me, I feel that if these are the rules then obey them. It's that simple.

So, if I ranted to the person, I apologize but think about it. Everyone complains about chair hogs and quite a few other annoying situations. Reading in the cafes during peak dining hours, or in Cafe al Bacio during peak hours, or running for the elevators when you see someone in a scooter or wheelchair approaching. These things also affect some cruisers but, it will not stop. No one seems to care and that's just that.

Again, I repeat, sorry if I "offended" someone but smoking on a ship is dangerous.

    Pat C

  14. If you were smoking in the designated areas, fine. BUT, if you were on your balcony or in your suite NOT GOOD. I know I, for one, would be reporting it. Yes, you may slam me for it, but fire on a ship is the worst of catastrophies. You are given an area. I don't understand why folks want to abuse rules. ANY rules. Read the fine print, you accept the rules when you sign your ticket but in this day and age that seems to mean nothing.

    Sad.

  15. I really wish that X would reveal more about the ship and deck plans, so that we can focus on something other than the MC. I don't care what color the MC is or its name. I am sure that X is aware of the possible issues that have been expressed, so I am sure they were considered in the design. I am just looking forward to experiencing it to make my own opinion.

Celebrity, please tell us more about the ship we are booked on so we can get even more excited about our upcoming cruise. We have waited long enough to see public area floor plans to know what venues we will be able experience.

I am with you all the way on this. While orange is NOT my favorite color, who cares at this point? I want to know about the interior of the ship. We are booked next January and are really concerned that that stupid "roll-out" is just that. Who knows if they have changed some off the "interior" spaces they originally talked about? Again, don't care. Just let us know what the heck is going on. Main dining room? Specialty restaurants? Get on with it. Now THAT would excite me.

    Pat C

  16. No one is allowed on the MC while it is motion. That has been set from the beginning. Besides, don't like the "low glass sides". Anyone with a few drinks could easily fall over the side. BUT, let's see what it eventually looks like. Still, Celebrity said right from the beginning, no one will be allowed on it while it is moving.

  17. Scrounging for every dollar they can....

The show was very creative and unique,..

Any pay for glass venue will be another area we do not patronize...

    Amen.

We are also not booking anything past Edge. We usually do at least 1 cruise a year and have always sailed Celebrity. Since LLP took over we have seen way too many changes for money. We are on Eclipse this April and might have to reconsider 2020. 2019 will probably be our last with Celebrity as the prices for are one thing for the cruise but the extras are just, plain crazy. Money hungry is a nice term for LLP and RCI. But, as many say on these boards, you can always go elsewhere.

  18. i really hope half the ship is not Eden inspired. in all honesty, if they're marketing to my husband and i's age group (we're 33) I won't have much interest in Eden-inspired everything. I think the Eden concept is a little strange (but all cruise ships have their own interesting spaces that some may enjoy but I find strange) and a luxury experience is important to me. celebrity has been my favorite line since I was 16, and I sailed when cruising was still quite traditional. I know times are changing but it's dangerous to stray too far from the ideals of their larger customer base. I am hoping they revealed those spaces first in an attempt to appeal to my group (if they think that's what we want ), but then still have their usual offerings to cater to their regulars. it only makes sense, because they last thing they want to do is alienate their loyal customers.

WELL SAID. That has been the point I have tried to make. New is good, innovative is better but don't cut off the hand that fed you, so to speak. Waiting to see.
