  1. I had been asking earlier about mobility scooters for my friend with Parkinson's that's cruising with us. But now my husband's knees have gotten so bad that he may need a mobility scooter as well. We will have two adults and two teenagers in the room so it's going to be a squeeze. But we just got to thinking. Might it be possible to remove one of the night stands and lamps and push the bed(s) as far as they will go towards the window. We have a french door interior on the Carnival Pride. It seems like if we could do that there might be room to park the scooter at the foot of the bed, or at least leave room for the kids to get in and out of the bunk beds. I know if someone wants twin beds, that they remove a nightstand and put one between them so I wouldn't think it would be a major deal to ask them to do that. Has anyone done this?

  2. Hi,

We are cruising on Aug 6, on the Freedom out of Galveston. I just saw about this Carnival Hub App. Has anyone used it? Do you need a Wifi package to use it? I see it has a chat feature. That would be really helpful communicating with my family while on-board. Any thoughts?

I have not used the HUB app yet, but have read a lot about it. Apparently for the basic app there is no charge, however if you want the chat feature it is $5 per phone that has the app. Whether that is the $5 wi fi package or something else, I don't know. We are looking forward to using it on our next cruise on the Pride. We are traveling with two teenagers so that will be very helpful in keeping track of them.

  3. I just booked Vista last night for April 2017! The first 2 in the cabin are 678.00 and the 3rd person is 918.00. Anyone know why I am paying more??? Shouldn't it be less??

    Thanks!

My family is booked for the Pride April 23, 2017. My husband and I are $634 each and our daughter is $179. So there doesn't seem to be any rhyme or reason to it.

  4. Hi there. I'm not sure if it's the same on all Carnival ships, but I just got off of Carnival Victory, and those arcade games don't take tokens. You pay for them by swiping your Sail & Sign card. Because of that, I think your best bet would be onboard credit. However, that would have to be credited to the account of whoever gives the kids charging privileges, and once they have those privileges, it could be easy for them to go over the allotted amount.

All you have to do is go to guest services and tell them you want to place a limit on your child's sign and sail card and they will do it. When they reach that limit they will not be able to charge any more.

  5. I was checking out the app on my iPad and I'm very unhappy that our ship (Conquest) is not yet supported by the app. I bought the kids android trac phones because everyone said use the app instead of walkee talkees and now I find out it's not even going to work. I left a message on carnivals social media page and hopefully they can give me a ETA on when the app will be effective. Hopefully before our cruise in September.

You can get the internet package that allows for Facebook Messenger and use that.

  6. You may also be able to find some cheap phones on ebay to use.

Having a phone number is not necessary, but being able to download the app from the google play store is a must.

**I've read that some prepaid phones will not work until you activate them (as in you cannot download anything from the app store)

Just switched companies to Total Wireless. While waiting for the numbers tp transfer we had wi fi on them and could download all our apps we needed. Also when my son let his plan run out, we could still talk using Facebook Messenger text or voice with just the wifi.

  7. We tried them on our first cruise on the Pride. Bought decent ones. Not the cheapest, not the most expensive. They were Motorola. Did not work at all. DS left the cabins talking to us and got about 10 doors away and we lost the signal and couldn't hear him. I ran into other people who were using them with no problem. SO it's a crap shoot whether they will work or not.

We are going to use the HUB app this next cruise. That or Facebook Messenger.

  8. I have already stated that I would be using a walker, OBVIOUSLY I am mobility challenged. I asked because of information I have been told by other passengers and because I am curious. On Disney they actually park and charge them in an alcove next to the lifts. I do not need a lecture, I asked for those who had done or saw something similar. Another person told me her steward would take it away and return it each morning. So ONCE AGAIN, those who KNOW of these instances please reply. Those who do not KNOW, don't bother. Jeez, SMH

There is a board that addresses all these things.

  9. What's a 4k cabin?

We've cruised the Pride twice and are booked for an April cruise. We usually have a balcony but this time booked the 4k which is called a French Door Interior. It is considered an interior, however the room is the same size as a balcony room. It is NOT an interior, but instead of having a balcony, it has double doors that open, but you can not go out. They are in front of the life boats. The cabins that take 4 people are in front of the lifeboats, some of the 2 person cabins are between the lifeboats and you can see the water. They are priced only slightly more than an interior. But you get light and fresh air. Don't, however leave the curtain open if you are going to change clothes or do anything else you wouldn't want strangers to see because sometimes workmen do work outside your window!

  10. Last cruise was 3 years ago. I can't remember how much the games in the arcade were. Our 17 y.o. daughter will be bringing a friend and we want to tell them so they can judge how much money to send for that plus souvenirs.

  11. We found a very nice wheelchair locally through a Rummage Sale local Facebook page for $50. We will use that for getting her onto the ship and store it in our cabin during the cruise. Who knows, DH has knee problems, I may end up pushing HIM in it some days! :)

We were able to get Faster to the Fun so will have early boarding and tendering. This way she can use the wheelchair for the tender port as well. I understand that is allowed. It is not the traveler kind, but does fold up nicely.

  12. I've searched and can't find current responses, so I apologize if this is repeated.

Is the Hub App available on Valor or will it be by July 29?

Are the new internet plans available on Valor?

If we buy the social media package, is it required for each person to be able to use the WIFI to send imessages?

On my HUB app it says the app is "coming soon" to the Valor. No date given.

I don't know if the social media package is available yet but I do know that if you buy a package, only one person can be signed in to it at a time. So the HUB would be best (and cheapest) for communicating with other people in your party. Otherwise you'd have to be signing on and off of it so the other person could answer.

  13. I don't consider myself a cheerleader, but three Carnival cruises, two on Pride, one on Valor, and the most we ever waited was 30 minutes and that was the last night and we wanted to be in the same section as the rest of the week to say goodbye to the wait staff. Had we agreed to go to another area of the dining room we would not have had a wait at all. The rest of the time we go up to the podium and are immediately seated. However we go early, that might be the difference.

  14. I can only imagine how you felt as things crumbled around you in regards to trying to take good care of your dad and being thwarted at every turn.

Through our local "rummage sale" Facebook page I have bought a nearly new wheelchair for my friend for $50. We intend on her using it to get to the cabin, then she'll have a scooter and we'll put the wheelchair in our room. We didn't get them a handicapped room as it was decided that since she doesn't need the wheelchair IN the room that the risk of falling after a shower with the water covering the entire bathroom floor was more risk than the extra room in the cabin was worth. She will also need the wheel chair for Half Moon Cay and Grand Turk as I know one is a tender port. Not sure about taking a scooter to the other.

But your information will be of great importance to anyone traveling out of Baltimore and much to keep in mind. Thank you so much for posting it! And give your dad an extra hug for me for hanging in there through all of this. (I lost my mom and dad around 9 years ago. Cherish your time with him!)

  16. We've had "Your Time Dining" on most of our sailings. We've enjoyed the flexibility it offers. If you find a team of waiters that you like, you can request to sit with them, we usually do that. We get a table for two or for our family.

The only real downside, is that, like a restaurant, sometimes there can be a wait for a table. In that case, you'll be given a pager. If that happens to us, we usually just grab a pre-dinner drink, but outside of Formal night, that's pretty rare.

This was also our experience. The only nights we got a pager was Elegant Night, and our last night but only because we wanted to be seated in a certain area to have the same waitstaff. Other than that it worked like clockwork.
