  1. Do you really think that anyone really cancelled their cruise. There was so much complaining about some of the changes Celebrity made a couple of years ago and a lot saying they were cancelling and never cruising with them again and they are all there, even the one poster who swears he doesn't cruise with them any longer. These cruise lines are a lot smarter than some think, they know most of it is all talk and no action.

Believe me, if I could cancel without losing my deposit (£450) I would. Its not the $7.95 per se, its the fact that they are advertising a free service (still showing as free on their UK website) and they are charging for it. I just don't like anyone conning me and that is how I am feeling at the moment. Also in the back of my mind is "what else are they going to charge me for that they currently say is included?" I simply don't trust them anymore.

So yes, I would cancel and book with another cruise line over this but can't afford to lose £450.

  2. Of course, this is classic way to introduce a new charge. They probably always intended to keep coffee and continental breakfast free but by making people pay for it all and then appearing to back off everyone says "Oh, that's OK then, not as bad as I thought it would be". Whereas had they decided to bring in a charge on "other" items only from the start people would moan at this erosion of their "included services".

  3.

Also as we all know the other lines are not just watching to steal away business with better pricing, more importantly they are watching NCLs "test run" of the RS model. I have no doubt that if this works for NCL you will see similar things implemented on the other lines.

I believe that it was already stated that CCL rolled out a similar RS menu(they however did a much better job with their rollout from what I have heard/read though)

Like any industry there are always changes and how consumers accept or deal with them determines the course of action a particular industry takes.

I have no issue with them charging a fee, I have an issue with them advertising it as complimentary and then charging for it. As I said in my previous post they are STILL advertising it as complimentary even though they have started charging. Even in the US this can't be legal surely (pretty sure its illegal in the UK as advertising is classed as implied terms of a contract).

  4. Taxi is a fixed price of eur 70 including a 2 hour wait

Sorry if this is a stupid question but where would you get the taxi from?

Also, does anyone know how much it costs to get in to Herculaneum?

    Thanks

  5. Ah, just read some posts on Trip Advisor about these chaps. THink best avoided. Unfortuantely our cruise didn't come with the free parking that so many seem to these days and its £102 for ABP parking for our 11 night cruise. Seems a lot. Has anyone used Cruise Parking Ltd? Thats coming in at £70 but not sure whether I would be better off paying the extra for ABP and be done with it.
