  1. I'd then take a couple down at night and the bar tenders would keep them in one of their fridges behind the bar to keep them cold.

I never would have thought about asking them to do that. Thanks for the tip.

  2. It is probably better value to buy a transport pass.

The tourist office on the port sell them.

Thank you. Do they take Credit Cards?

Also, just in case we decide that its best to pay for individual journeys, can I pay by card on the actual transport? We aren't in port for long and don't intend to spend more than a couple of hours ashore (for various reasons).

    Cheers

  3. Oh right. Thanks Dave. I didn't realise there would be multiple "Happy Hours" I assumed it would be the same in all the bars on ship. Are the times advertised in the daily flier thing that most cruise lines seem to put in your cabins each night?

TBH, we can't really afford this cruise but have decided to go for it anyway. Just trying to establish the best way of keeping costs down whilst still enjoying ourselves!

  4. Absolutely. Doesn't stop people from throwing their 2 cents worth in though!

I'm more your "Live and let live" kinda guy when it comes to the more "Controversial" points of cruising. There are far more serious things in the world to worry about than whether or not someone tries to circumvent a drinks policy or fails to tip the recommended amount.

Other people tend to get a bit heated under the collar about it though.

  5. True, but you might be surprised how many ignore that rule.

Considering the small size of the bottle they sell you it's easily circumvented.

this is one of the topics, along with gratuities, that seems to stir up quite a ****storm on these forums!

Might be time to get some popcorn...

  6. Just a guess Dave but maybe the Oz one has to be priced in AUD Which are worth less than USD?

Our cruise in EU for next May is still showing "up to $10"

Actually Dave, I think I read in a different thread that Oz cruises have the tip integrated into the price of the drink. Therefore the basic drink prices will be more so the allowance needs to be higher. Just a thought.

  7. I've got 2 cruises booked with Princess. 1 in a couple of weeks on the Crown in Canada & New England. Being from the UK, the overall price is in £'s but in the wording it says drinks upto US$10. My other cruise is December 2018 on the Sun in Australia/New Zealand, again he overall price is in £'s, but this time, it says drinks upto $14.

  8. Each person 21 and over may carry on at embarkation 1 x 750ml bottle of wine without charge for use in your cabin.

Sorry, just thought of another question regarding the carry on wine.

I know that you can bring on one bottle each (over 21) passenger for consumption in your own cabin only.

Its also clear that you can bring on more wine but that they are subject to a $15 corkage fee.

I am also aware that if you want to drink any of your own wine outside of your cabin then it is also subject to a $15 corkage fee.

What I'm unclear about is if you wanted to, say, bring on 2 bottles each and have 2 in your cabin and 2 in the restaurant (or elsewhere on the ship). Will 2 of the bottles be considered your "free" allowance and the other 2 have $15 each added? Or will all 4 have the $15 added? Or would the 2 "non-free" bottles have $15 each added to bring them on board and a further $15 added to take them out of your cabin?

    I hope this makes sense!

    Cheers

  9. Thanks steelers. I was going to pre-order a couple of these packages for me and the wife but I had assumed that they were "credits" that you used at the bar. Not so good if they all arrive at once!

If they are delivered to your cabin I can always clear the fridge out but it will be a pain having to return to the cabin any time I fancy a beer.

  10. Just reading about the 5 for 4 beer package and it says this.....

"Crisp and refreshing Dos Equis is made from pure spring water and the choicest hops. Buy four Dos Equis (12 oz bottles) and get the fifth beer free. Delivered to the stateroom" (my underlining)

The other beer options say the same. Does this mean that you can't go to the bar for one of your beers and that you have to go back to your room for it?

    Thanks
