@Butterbean1000here is a photo from Saint Greg’s current sailing to show what I mean. I probably have done a poor job describing it. You’ll see platinum on the right.

Another silly question, how visible is this from the general waiting area?  We are trying to not be seen.

Neither of us are Platinum, actually the other couple have never cruised with Carnival, so I think this is available to anyone.  It does not allow you to check in any earlier, just allows you to check in the other cabins.  So you should check with your PVP if you could check them in the same time you do yours or not since you are Platinum.  Carnival might block you from checking them in earlier.  Someone else might have to log in the normal time and check the rest of the group in (but they could check everyone else in as long as they had their booking numbers and all the info to check them in such as passport numbers and stuff).

I was pretty sure I wouldn't  be able to but DS insisted I find out.

I was able to link in our friends by getting their Booking number and adding it to our information, then when I get ready to do our check in I can check in for both of our cabins.  So you might want to check on it!

We're you both platinum or just you?

  4. We're cruising with our son and his family.  I'll be doing the platinum check in two days early.  Our bookings are linked.   He asked if I can check them in, too.  I don't think so, but I told him I would check.  Is this doable?

  5. We haven't sailed out of Miami since turning platinum.  Is there a separate waiting area?  We will be sailing with my son and family and we are  surprising the grandkids, they don't know we'll be sailing with them.  We don't want them to see us before we board.

I love the short ribs, but the Beef Wellington I had on the Jubilee is definitely #1 now!

I've seen this on the menu but have never tried it.  It looks really good.   Can you tell them how you want the steak cooked? The above is just a touch rarer than I like.

  7. I usually bring my own hair dryer, but we are flying this time and I'm trying to pack light.  Does anyone know if the hairdryers on the Magic are the kind that you have to hold the button down for it to work?

We zoomed over to another area and one of the whale's that had a baby with her was repeatedly flapping her fin against the water...over and over and over.

It must have been so thrilling to be that close to these majestic animals. It almost seems like they were putting on a show for you.

Just want to comment on this:

We were on this ship Jan 2024.  DH uses a cane, so in the buffet I become his butler (he sits; I get the food).  More than once, while I was gone, a buffet staff member brought him stuff...coffee, soup etc.

I had similar experiences on the Magic.  I was pre-op on a knee scooter. The staff in the buffet were very helpful carrying my plates and drinks.

The inch of gold seemed like a decent deal, until I priced out a 20-inch paperclip chain necklace.  It was $7.99 an inch, so the whole thing was $160 which was ridiculous for a costume jewelry piece.  I can get the same thing on Amazon for $29.99.

After seeing the gold by the inch on several cruises, I broke down and bought a bracelet and charm for my granddaughter.  What a POS. I don't remember how much I paid, but what ever I paid, it was too much.

Most people don't typically buy Tanzanite or fine fragrances, specialty watches etc so folks don't have a frame of reference for if it's a good deal or not. That's a good point.

Working at a department store, I feel like I have a very good handle on what is a good deal on the ship, especially with my employee discount,  so not much.  Also, when I tell the spa folks I work at M***ys, they stop with the sales pitch.

That would be MMK not Guess. Guess has been around for decades and while not high end its not bottom of the barrel. Maybe no one buys it where you work but plenty are sold other places.

I didn't say no one buys them.  We sell lots of them.  I'm saying they are not a premium brand.  The average price of an MK is $300 to $600+.  Guess is under $100.  We don't put security tags on them.  We don't have a theft problem with them like we do with like a brand like Coach, etc.
