  1. My wife and I have been on the Navigator 5 times. The first time was in 2010 and was our first Regent cruise. We booked an aft suite on Deck 7 (not being aware of the vibration issue). The vibration was definitely there, although I would categorize it as "annoying" rather than being truly disruptive. Obviously it couldn't have been too bad as we have only sailed on Regent since then. That being said, we always book a foreward cabin on the Navigator now :-).

  2. My wife and I will be on the Aug 27 - Sep 6, 2015 Mariner cruise from Rome to Istanbul. This is the first time we have had the transfer from the cruise port to the airport included upon disembarkation (in Istanbul). I'm just wondering if we should stick with Regent's included transfer (our flight leaves at 10:55am), or if we would be better off making our own arrangements for a private transfer? I have visions of sitting on a bus waiting for it to fill up while the time is ticking away...

  3. If the weather is good outside seating is usually available both at sea or in port.

Thanks, JMARINER. Hopefully that will be the case on our upcoming cruise. Since we are from Canada (and it is a tad chilly at this time of year), we are constantly amazed at how few people want to eat outside. Sometimes I think everyone else must think we are those "crazy Canadians" eating outside. I guess our judgement about the weather is not in line with the majority. I remember being in Bermuda in early April (on a previous Navigator cruise) - my wife and I were wearing t-shirts and shorts and many of the locals were wearing what appeared to be down-filled winter coats!

  4. My wife and I will be taking our 5th cruise on the Navigator in February, 2015, and we have come to love the ship. It seems to be the perfect size for us. In August 2015 we will take our first cruise on a Regent ship other than the Navigator (the Mariner - Rome to Istanbul). My wife is a little concerned about the size of the Mariner, and I was just wondering if anyone had any comments regarding comparing the two ships?

  5. Thanks, everyone for your advice. We have been on the Circumvesuviana before, so we are acquainted with the comforts on that particular train (or lack thereof!). I think we are leaning towards taking the included tour, and then see what we think of the tour when we get to Pompeii. If it is a good tour then we will probably stay with it, but if not we'll let the tour guides know that we'll just do it on our own and make our own way back. Thanks again for all of the information.

  6. I'm seeking advice from all of you Regent veterans out there. My wife and have have sailed on the Navigator 4 times, and next summer will be our first European Regent cruise on the Mariner. One of the ports is Sorrento, and we would like to go to Pompeii on our own (we prefer doing our own thing at most Eurpoean ports). However, since this is a tendered port I believe guests taking excursions get priority for leaving the ship, and we would like to leave as soon as possible to catch the train to Pompeii. Are we just out of luck, or is there some way to become part of the early groups leaving the ship. I can fully understand if Regent doesn't allow this, but it never hurts to ask!

Thanks for any advice that can be provided.

  7. I'm just planning our upcoming Navigator cruise on Feb 26, 2015, and was wondering if anyone out there knew what hotels are being used for the "free" pre-cruise hotel the night before the cruise. In the past we have been put up at the Biltmore.

    Thanks in advance!
