  1. Nope. Not with the appetizer, sides, dessert, etc. Especially not if you get a lobster tail.

The steak isn't that good IMHO. I rate it as a $25 steak that would include 2 sides, figure a $6 app and a $6 desert so yeah you are right I will give it maybe $37 before tip. But since the meal includes a tip, it makes it a pretty good deal.

Its not much better than a Texas Roadhouse (which I will eat all day no problem) or similar place.

If you find it to be much better than I find it, then more power to you. That makes the Steakhouse all the more worth it for you and thats a good thing. Serious. I am glad that you find it to be top notch as you should expect no less.

My only experience with a Carnival steakhouse was good but not awesome. They did not have Porterhouse and they refused to good my Spiced Ribeye to medium rare. (serious, that blew my mind)

  2. Well honestly if carnival charged a decent price for alcohol as they did with the water no one would try smuggling it on.

    Source: http://www.cruisecritic.com/news/news.cfm?ID=6398

I don't drink much and with the prices of alcohol on ships, I have maybe 4 the whole week. If they want to increase alcohol revenues, lower the price a tad. I would gladly buy more but from what I have seen, Carnival has no shortage of heavy drinkers willing to pay for it.

  3. Ed Hardy/Affliction/Tap Out T-shirt wearing, beer guzzling, over grown highschool "bros" who make loud obnoxious scenes and try to "get the party started" everywhere they go and / or make obnoxious jokes, but as soon as they get get called out on being loud, obnoxious, or rude they say "I was just fooling around..."

Come on, we ALL know the type.

Living in one of the biggest tourist capitals in the States, I can assure you most of what you described is VERY local to you. Very similar accents as well.

Knuckleheads come from all over, not just "fly over" States. From my perception most seem to come from your geographical area but thats a result of confirmation bias and is not more logical or accurate as your observation. We see what we want to see.

  4. I know this isn't a popular question especially in the Carnival forum so please try not to take offence, but I would like to ask if there are certain ports of departure or itineraries that should be avoided to reduce the risk of encountering this type of behavior ?

Certain price points attract some less than classy folks. Depends on when you go. I go in the of season so I avoid lots of stuff apparently lol

I never really had a problem on any Carnival cruise but did see some highly inappropriate dancing in the hall in front of the club. Well I guess bending a girl over and slamming your pelvis into her butt is called dancing these days.

  5. Where do you get USDA prime steak on land for $35.00? (I'm there).

On land in the US? Nowhere.

If Carnivals steak was Prime, then I will say I have had better Choice. I was also told my Ribeye was "aged to their specification" but could not tell me if it was dry or wet aged and for how long.

Like I said, it was a good steak, but nothing brag worthy.

  6. I do agree. The location on the Breeze leaves much to be desired. It should be up top, but that is where they relocated Camp Carnival.

I also agree that I wasn't that impressed by the steakhouse. It was a good steak, but I doubt I will return in the future. If and when I sail again, I'd rather try the Italian place.

I am going to try that next time as well. Hoping to redo the Breeze again soon if all works out.

  7. The same meal at a prime steakhouse on land will often run $100.00pp.

The same cruiseship steakhouse meal can be had for about $35 on land but not include tip.

Carnival, Princess, NCL and RCCL (only ones I tried) steakhouses are not the same quality or selection that you get at $100 per plate steakhouses on land. They are good but not that good. I say they are $40 per plate at best.

  8. Hello. I hope everyone is having a great day. The DH and I will be traveling aboard Carnival Breeze on 11/1 and I personally want to know is the steakhouse really worth the 35 per person? My husband do not eat steak like I do so are there any other options he can choose from? Please give your honest opinions and your experience if you had dinner at the steakhouse. Also, is it true you get a FREE bottle of wine?

I ate at the Steakhouse on the Liberty when it was called Harrys and was $30. Was it worth it? Yes and no. It was worth it to find out for myself but to me the meal was barely worth the $30 so I skipped it on the Breeze.

I almost booked it on the Breeze and noticed it was more and depending on when you went there was a huge cluster / gaggle / crowd of people blocking the way in for the comedy club. I did get in and it looked about as appealing as a trendy Dennys.

Oh and they dont serve Porterhouse in Carnival steakhouses.

Personally I think you should give it a try, everything we say here really doesn't matter, some will rave about it, some wont.

IMHO I say give it a shot and try it.

  9. I have often wondered, do the bars in the cruise terminal make any attempt to chase out cruise passengers? Is there a last call, announcement or anything?

Don't the cruise lines control the cruise terminals? I can't imagine they would be very happy with a bar that makes a habit of creating pier runners or even worse, people missing the ship.

It may not be Carnival's fault, but you still don't want a bunch of people going home complaining about missing the ship because they were at a bar 200 feet away.

Often multiple ships in port and its really hard to not hear the ship blow its horn. Amazingly enough for such a tiny island and close proximity, folks miss it.

  10. How long after you book your cruise you can purchase trip insurance from insuremytrip??

If you want a cancellation policy, you should get one within 24 hours of booking the cruise for the better policies. Some give you longer.

Most of those on the site are secondary insurance. I prefer primary and usually use Travelex.

  11. What are the pros and cons of using PVP vs. booking online? Are there any specific benefits? They can find rooms that don't show as available online.

What method do you usually use? PVP but this time I used my TA as I always get OBC

And if you use a PVP, do you have any recommendations and extension # of someone who really knows their stuff and works for you? If you aren't allowed to post that directly, feel free to PM me. Cant PM, sorry Or even just general feedback of what I should expect from a "good" PVP.

    Thanks in advance!

  12. Wish all ships would do that

Me too. It worked really well.

I hated fighting crowds to see the shows on the Breeze. One had to stand in line for almost an hour to get in if you wanted a chair and that line pretty much blocked the Steakhouse and went right through the piano bar. Terrible layout back there.

  13. I'm sure they could pack the main show lounge every night for the comedy shows.

When I sailed the Imagination they did the Adult comedy shows in the main theater and it was still filled to capacity. Still much better than the small club in back where they did the PG shows.

  14. ..... When ever our neighbors smoked on the balcony it got pulled into our room..What somebody broke the rules and smoked on the balcony???? Repeatedly with no action taken to stop them.....

Did you notify anyone while it was happening?

edited to add, looks like you did.

  15. Getaway looks great. But I worry about all the nickel and diming NCL does.

I don't recall any more nickel and diming on NCL than I experienced on Carnival. Actually I hardly heard any of the near constant sales pitches over the PA system like I hear on Carnvial.

  16. Ok, so we are Carnival people but we saw the Getaway (NCL) on our cruise and wow it looks awesome. We were booking that but then I saw the Glory would cost us a lot less and has ports we like better...but it is seriously lacking in the waterslide area...my kids are spoiled by the breeze.

What do you guys think? Better ship or better ports. My mom has never cruised before and we are taking her so I want to make it good!

I have sailed the Liberty which is very similar to the Glory and I have sailed the NCL Getaway. I have also sailed the Breeze as well.

Getaway for sure, especially if you have kids.

  17. Where did the 250 rating come from?

The same place as the final six month of a passport, permission letters for minors and sky hooks.

    It came from Carnival actually.

According to their FAQ when typing in "weight limit. Its in the information about upper births and pulldowns.

Upper berths are beds or upper pullman are single beds that into the wall or into the ceiling; when open, they are much like a bunk bed.

Note: There is a weight limit of 250lbs on upper berths.
