  1. Just curious why would the weather make you switch to the Allen Marine vs NCL.
  2. @martincath What bus is it that does the Vancouver to Victoria. I think I will stay overnight in Victoria but
  3. Weird. The latitude program has the restrictions you show.. and Also allows more flexible on restaurants. When I look in my account and latitudes rewards - it shows only certain restaurants and additional restrictions. Dinner for Two at Cagney's or Le Bistro with a Bottle of Wine6 (per stateroom) Dinner for Two at Moderno or La Cucina6 (per stateroom) Benefit is available on sailings 5 days or longer, and entitles each guest to one appetizer, one entrée and one dessert of choice. Entrée items up to $35 are covered. For items over this amount, an upcharge will be added to your onboard account. No restaurant substitutions. Names vary by ship. Restaurants not available on all ships. On Norwegian Bliss, Moderno is replaced by Los Lobos or Q. On Norwegian Joy, Moderno is replaced by Food Republic or Q. In Food Republic, the benefit entitles each guest to a total food value of $35 per guest. On Norwegian Encore, Moderno or La Cucina is replaced by Los Lobos or Q.
  4. Hi, This thread is helpful I am on the Jewel in May. For the Platinum dinners on the fine print from the Latitudes page it looks like the entree's are limited to $35 or less. Do you know if they are enforcing that limit? I may change what restaurant I reserve if there is upcharge for everything higher.
  5. The first night dinner was pretty backed up and crowded - get a reservation if doing mytime at least for at least the first night
  6. The cruise was very good. Food and service were very good. I enjoyed the variety of cuisine at the buffet. Cruise passengers primarily Asian. Not sure what you are interested in, or which stops you have... Penang/Georgetown is very nice that you can walk into town, but do recommend also going out to Lok Si Temple. I used Grab app and busses to get around to some of the further out spots. Phuket, snorkeling trip to Phi Phi islands was nice. Phuket town had some decent tourist shops. Karen beach seemed the nicest I was sorry I didn't take the opportunity to swim there. There was a bathroom and shower facility for a small fee.
  7. YVRteacher, which weeks are you on, I am on the first 2 weeks in May.
  8. Thanks for the thoughts. Originally I thought the itineraries were the same but in looking closer: Jewel shows Glacier bay and Dawes Glacier. Spirit shows Icy strait point. Jewel says inside straight and Spirit doesn't, but the route looks like they are the same to/from Vancouver. Yes, I think Spirit has more recent upgrade and some different restaurants.
  9. I am trying to decide between the NCL Spirit or NCL Jewel for a May Alaska Cruise.. Thoughts?
  10. The town is an easy walk from the port. it is a beautiful town with some nice archeological and museum sites.
  11. I am on the Westerdam Feb 3 cruise. It recently had a change in itinerary and has added 2 ports Tanjungpinang, Pulau Bintan, Indonesia and Kuantan (Tanjong Gelang), Malaysia. I haven't been able to find out much for those ports. For Kuantan, I might just go to the Teluk Chempedak beach. I would hope I could get a cab at the port. Or it looks like there is a bus going into Pekan. Any experience on taking this into town?
  12. I am on the 4 day in Feb. I think the menu looks great, some Chinese, Indian, Vietnamese mixed in with standard cruise menu options. The roll call is pretty quiet but I am looking forward to the cruise.
  13. In august I arrived at the airport 4 hours before my flight and only had about 20 minutes to spare before boarding. Just time to get some coffee.
  14. Holland America just changed the itinerary of my trip, so we are no longer going to India. The India visa I purchased for the trip was $240. I scanned my travel insurance and didn't see where this would be covered.... but has anyone had success finding any clauses that would cover costs associated with an itinerary change. I have AIG Travel Guard annual policy, and Chase Sapphire Reserve. Thanks for any hints on what clauses to look for....
  15. Based on reading some travel books, Kuantan doesn't look like a good trade for Malacca and Langkawi. Most of the books describe it as a town with not much interesting.
  16. I bought AIG Travel Guard annual policy this year. I have not made any claims yet.
  17. Neither of my cruises this year on Jewel (12 days) or Grandeur (5 days) had Lobster for free in the Main Dining Room
  18. Yes, I am glad to see they finally posted some tours. I had reached out to some agencies and didn't find anything I was interested in doing.
  19. Interesting. So the person above was correct and they are eliminating 1 day of vouchers. Last cruise I know I got drinks the first day and the last morning.
  20. From what I understand we need a paper visa. On the roll call there are some emails from HAL posted where they said that people would be able to embark the ship in Singapore without a visa, but they will not be able to get off at Port Blair. . I did an in person appointment in Houston, Texas, appointments were a month out, and it took 8 days after appointment to receive the passport and visa. Mailing would have probably been faster but I don’t like sending my passport away. If you do decide to do the visa I recommend getting the form filling assistance.
  21. Thank you for the information! I decided not to cut it so close and booked a 3pm flight.
  22. In the Tour terms it shows "The cancellation policy for EXC Overland Adventures and Overnight Tours is as follows (unless noted otherwise in the tour description): 30 – 60 days before tour date: 25%; 14-29 days before tour date: 50%; Within 14 days of tour: Non-Refundable. The 100% cancellation fee will apply here, as it does for Signature Collection tours, since transportation and services will have already been arranged with the appropriate tour operator." Are there specific EXC Overland Adventures? or does that mean all tours are now non-refundable within 14 days? I was looking at a snorkel tour in Phuket but still researching other options ...
  23. The two I did this year, there were separate lines if you had a reservation vs didnt. The lines sometimes were longer if you had a reservation than if you didnt. These were smaller ships, it didn't seem to matter much.
