Cool Cruiser

Cool Cruiser (2/15)

  1. We are Captain's Circle elite and did not need tender tickets. We tend to leave the ship later after the rush and was able to walk on the tender without any wait. Loading and unloading takes the most time, with the actual boat ride only 5-10 minutes. Here is copy of the patter that day and some photos of the dock and tender.
  2. It's possible but it wasn't advertised in the patter. We did stumble upon the Pub Lunch on the last day of the cruise. It was in the dining room, not the Crown Grill. (Crown Grill was open for lunch with same specialty menu as dinner). Many people went to the dining room expecting a normal lunch and was disappointed with the Pub Lunch menu. The table next to us proceeded to all ordered cheeseburgers (6) and no dessert (did not want the bread pudding at all!)
  3. We just got off the Royal Princess yesterday, after an amazing Alaskan cruise, and there was no regular afternoon tea service in the dining room, let alone any Royal Afternoon Tea being offered. We were very surprised because we thought tea service was a daily standard on Princess. There were a few scones, cream, and jam available in the Horizon Bakery but not really the same experience. On a bright note, afternoon tea is available to Elite CC on request and we were able to enjoy that in our cabin.
  4. Your internal clock will be messed up regardless due to the loooong days in Alaska. I think sunrise was around 5am and sunset 10 pm, so "midnight sun" may mess with your sleep pattern. PS - On the Royal Princess, we also moved clocks BACK one hour on the first night and one hour forward on the next to last. I'm not sure what l9cal time was on port as I only cared about Ship's Time and returning to the ship on time.
  5. Oops, 2nd paragraph about the visitor map should be about Ketchikan. Typing on my phone and not able to edit.
  6. In Juneau, there is a public washroom at the base of the Mt Roberts tram. There are other facilities sprinkled throughout town that I can't exactly recall but everyone is friendly with directions. In Juneau, I found this Vistitor's map to be valuable for both washrooms locations and scenic walking paths. FYI - There were so many Bald Eagles flying around Ketchikan's Creek Street! Spectacular to see our American symbol up close and in real life.
  7. No worries mate. I recall cabin stewards this side also confiscating power strip with surge protectors. That's why we switched to multi-plugs and have not had issues. If you need a power source bedside, you might need to use a USB Power Bank that you can keep bedside. The Royal is a lovely ship, but considering it was built 2013, needs a few modern upgrades. I would have thought this would have been done during the shutdown when they added MedallionClass through the ship but obviously not. Cheers, Steve
  8. Not in the Royal's Deluxe Balcony I had on Riveria deck. I was expecting the side table lamps to have USB outlets like the modern sister ships ( i.e . Discovery) and was very disappointed. In fact no USB in the cabin at all and no outlets (easily accessible) near the beds. Luckily I brought along a multi-plug and used the outlet near the desk. 2-Pack Multi Plug Outlet Extender... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0BM4FWCZK?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share HTH, Steve
